  • Anyone know what the GPS is like on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime Special Edition?

    • +2

Bought one several weeks ago and I've used the GPS several times and it's been fine. I have the one with the global ROM and I'm assuming this is the same with b28. Etc etc

      • Thanks. If I manage to get my hands on one, I will be using it when I'm jogging and want to track my routes and distance so if the GPS sucked it wouldn't be worth it for me

  • +1

Are we sure it's the 32GB/3GB Note 3 Pro that's going to be US$116.99? It seems like it would be the 16GB/2GB which is also select-able on the same page. MC-MART's store home page also features the 3GB as US$149.99 for 11/11.

    • I have this same question. Any confirmation?

  • absolutely insane price…..

  • -1

I'm just wondering how big the sale was when it's in year 2011 , 11/11/11

This is usually a YUuge day for chinese online shopping. They said the Total purchase made for the 1st minute is around $1 billion Dollar

  • +2

said before and i'll say it again.
    No xiaomi service
    No replacement parts available.
    No cases fit. (2mm taller)

Choose wisely. If I were to get another one I'd get the normal version.

    • Your saying pro versions are different sizing to normal version and to avoid getting Pro?

      • Yes, pretty much

      • +4

He's referring to the special edition

      • +4

no, the "special edition" that has B28, marketed as the "international version" as well is 2mm taller. 152mm.

There are no cases that fit it properly, majority of the parts do not have a replacement.

Also, Xiaomi don't really care if youre from australia, they will tell you to physically go to taiwan and get it fixed.

        • lol that's hilarious :D

        • +1

So in other words get the normal "non special" version - that doesn't have B28 - or be prepared for illfitting or non fitting cases and a lack of replacement parts?

All this china service/repair talk problems makes me want to just pay abit more and go someone regular like sony, so that any problems can be dealt with locally/more efficiently.

the pricing of the XIaomi's are dead cheap though.

        • @SaberX:

yeah don't get the special edition.

the normal eidiot is fine. replacement parts cheap on ebay. got lots and lots of nice accessories. Just don';t amke the same mistake I did

    • So basically, all the people who bang on about band 28 are making a big deal about nothing? I think so.

      • Well for this price if you really needed Band 28 you could just go out and buy another phone. However I would prefer to purchase a device with B28 since its the frequency both Telstra and Optus invest the most in and has great building penetration for signal in metro areas. I find B3 only phones to be quite limiting in signal strength and coverage.

      • +1

So basically you don't live in the bush and have no idea what you are on about? I think so. Pretty much the only reception here is band 28 on both Optus and Telstra particularly inside and even then you need to be near the right window. So yes band 28 or the phone is useless to some of us. Before Optus got band 28 there was zero Optus reception here and Telstra 850Mhz was it nothing else available.

        • Funny you say that.. I live in Darwin and travel regularly inland to the "bush".. Ive carried my note 5 and redmi note 3 and reception was about on par. So before you open your mouth perhaps ask first?

It seems like a lot of people who bang on about band 28 just want it but don't even know exactly what it means. That's what's annoying. I've never said band 28 isn't useful..

        • I didn't ask because I didn't care, was objecting to "people who bang on about band 28 are making a big deal about nothing? I think so", maybe it makes little difference for some but it makes all the difference for me. Sure I could have a smart phone and no data connection but seems not that useful to me.

Don't know anything about the phones from Xiaomi - does anyone have a quick guide or hierachy of where all the different models sit int he grand scheme of things? i.e. Redmi Note 3 Pro alot older model - hence so cheap, given the OP also lists the Redmi Note 4???

ANd where does mi5 and the rest fit in terms of release dates and the processor,, technology etc?

It seems most seem to laugh at the camera quality compared to the likes of iphones and our common sony xperia's, samsungs etc - is it really that much sub par to these competition? Does the battery life at least stack up?

More importantly - as an user of samsungs, sony xperia z3 currently etc. I have never flashed or loaded these ROMs. Just wondering if buying a chinese phone like xiaomi is quite pointless if I were to use the built in operating system??

Is this Miu that everyone is talking about a ROM that needs to be loaded ? Ideally I just wanted android out of the box, without bloatware. and more importantly spyware or malware - can these chinese brands and alixpress phones be trusted? Sorry I don't know much about the safety in buying one, but my xperia z3 is starting to get old (battery wise).

The phones seem so cheap though that it almost feels like the quality must be alot different to buying another xperia, say the z5 which is close to $650+….

    • +1

Don't worry about the quality, it's on par with big brands like Sony or Samsung.
I suggest you read about flashing the particular model before you order, as it may not be straightforward. (Or order the phone with Multi-language ROM)
When I got my Xiaomi Redmi 3 it was full of chinese bloatware and I had to wait about a week to get my bootloader unlocked before I could flash a different ROM.

    • The Note is one range
The Mi series is the 'premium' range, and .5" smaller

Camera quality is not iPhone quality. Think 1-2 gen old Samsung.
-have not used the Mi5 though.

MiUi is fine for an OS. Other than nexus few run stock android anyway.
Changing to the international rom is quite easy if required.

Quality is good. I am still using my Note 4G (now 2.5yrs) and have only recently had issues. It does not like travelling down stairs by its self. Screen as unmarked until then. Replacement screen is only ~60.

Battery on Note series is quite large. Still decent on the Mi series. Double the life of an iphone.

$45 extra for a ride on Bandwagon 28? I dunno mate… and no accessories either? Choice is easy it seems.

    • If you live in the city I guess it is.

  • Which phones work with Vodafone band 5? Except the Mi note 3 special edition, I just want to know more options. Thanks.

  • Just wondering, has anyone succeed flashing xiaomi with original Google firmware?

    • Check out xda. Signs point to yes for AOSP type ROMs http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development

    • There are cyanogen roms for most models. Check the progress before you buy. I had one on my Note 4G, but reverted to stock as I use my phone for work and the apps I use require non rooted

      • there is ways to hide root from apps using xposed and root cloak.

  • +2

Is warranty real with these, or is it more realistic to assume that there's no real warranty?

  • +1

You can buy cases that fit the international band 28 model known as Kate , plenty of examples on the whirlpool thread.

  • Can anyone confirm the note 3 pro international proximity sensor should work like a iPhone or anything else for that matter… ie screen goes off/black when making a call against your head then back on when away ??

My recently purchased one from Ali goes black and then will not recover during a call - making it impossible to type digits for phone banking or even hang up sometimes.

    • My wife's Note 3 did this. It eventually came fine once I update it. (She hates updating her phones so it was a good surprise to have it fixed)

    • Case or screen protector messing with the sensor? THat seemed to happen on my Huawei

  • Based on past experience what are your chances of getting what you want in this sale? Nothing like COTD I hope, which is a joke.

  • +1

    [Xiaomi Redmi 3S 32GB/3GB(aliexpress.com): US $114.99/~AU $169]

showing to me US $127.99 on the 11/11

  • Why are all the links in Portugese?

Scatch that. For some reason my laptop decided this morning that I'm going to the Portugese Aliexpress.

  • Are the cases and tempered film options in this deal for the Prime SE the ones that don't fit perfectly? So don't get them with the phone but order separately with Whirlpool recommendations?

    • +1

The "soft tpu" clear cases for regular redmi note 3 work fine, they basically fit as is, maybe a little bit of hair dryer (hot air to soften) and then gently pull at each end, combined with minimal hole enlargements on the top/bottom sides with a small pair of scissors or hobby knife..
      Easy done….

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime

is this 32/3 or 16/2 ? title says 32/3 but page of the phone says 16/2?

    • Yeah, the post should be changed.
Sale price $116.99 is definitely for the cheapest version which is 16/2

  • God damn $154, can't believe how far the price of this has dropped, fall of 50% in this time span seems insane

  • If you buy from Aliexpress, how how long is delivery?

    • 60 days. It is funny that in 2016 it takes 60 days for an item to arrive. Do they drop them in a boat and a guy starts rowing from China to Australia?

      • Cheap labour that might be possible

  • +2

Are those prices for the Note 3 Pro correct? Once you add it to cart, the 32GB and 16GB have different 11/11 sale prices listed.

Only the gold 16GB is $116.99 USD, the rest are more expensive.

  • Wow. So now anyone can have quite a descent phone for $154

  • these can be upgraded to the latest android N ROM right?

    • I'm running CM13 on mine. Some are already running CM14 though

  • Note 4 pro or Mi5?

  • I think the price for 3G/32GB Note 3 Pro on first store which named as MC-Mart will be 202.18 on 11.11.
So, I suggest you to watch the B28 one.

  • +4

For those who are intending to buy the Redmi Note 3 Special Edition the cases are hard to find, however this case fits it well

    • Yes that would be fine…. as per my reply to someone also above, if any discrepancy at all the extra 2mm length on any of these soft tpu cases is achieved by gently manipulation/stretching and possibly very minor enlargement of holes that are misaligned slightly (with a small knife or scissors this is very easy)….

  • if we use 2 dollar coupon by aliexpress, cant we use cashback at the same time?

    • +5

      Too expensive…

  • Any Xiaomi phones with Android 6, band 28 and NFC?

    • +2

There is a new model: Xiaomi Note 2 Prime Global Version - recently released though and pricey.

      • +1

        Thanks, link?

      • Damn, will have to watch that one. Looks close to perfect.

  • Is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Prime Special Edition the better buy seeing as it has 3GB/32GB and 28 band for an extra $44?

    • I totally agree, everyone seems to have missed that

  • No deal in Mi Note 2? Boy, im sad :(

  • no android pay on note 3, only a few top line xiaomi phones have it like the Mi5 and if you have an unofficial rom you'll probably struggle to flash official rom. MIUI is very easy to use and much better than samsung android

  • 16gb/2gb ram redmi 3s is $131 @ geekbuying for next 8hrs

  • Any other Note 3 owners have problems with the battery, besides the one poster who said they are on their third battery?

And if you have had problems what did you do, seeing as it is designed to be non-replaceable? Throw phone away or go through tiresome battery replacement procedure shown on YouTube?

  • Among all the models listed in post, which one has smaller screen? I am not looking for a very large screen/ phone size.

    • +1

The 3S is 5". Look at moneybaby's post on p1.

  • What time does the sale officially start? Midnight AEST or American?

    • +1

      7pm AEST

      • Thanks heaps

      • 7PM 11/11, right?

  • Will Redmi 3S work with 3G and 4G in India?

  • How much does this usually cost in other stores? I can't seem to find other places selling this phone, are the pro and pro prime the same thing? I don't really follow mobiles so i don't know how much i'm actually saving if i buy this.

    • They are not sold here currently. You will not find them in stores.

Probably best to search the model you are looking at on here or whirlpool.net.au to get an idea what you are looking at and what other prices they have been.

  • Can you use Cashrewards for a 7% and a coupon? aliexpress showed a $2something coupon.
Also starts on 11/11 US AU or china time?

  • +1

    So it's the 2/16 GB version that's $154?
    That's not so amazing.
Still probably ~$15 lower than any previous low price. Good bargain assuming they have reasonable stock levels.
Makes the Special edition much more attractive. $44 extra for B28 + 3/32 GB

  • so at exactly what time is the deal available? since we are 3 hours ahead, im thinking 3am on the 11th?

  • +2

If anyone gets Kate, do we want to put in a bulk order for legit Xiaomi cases from TW?

  • Anyone know if the Note 4 Pro will allow dual sim 4g/3g after Telstra cuts off 2g in a month? I know the Mi5 will, but a little out of my price range.
This Whirlpool thread suggests the Note 4 would, but not sure about the Note 4 Pro. Can anyone confirm?:
    http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/dual_sim_4g3g_phones

  • Any chance of a 128GB version of the MI5?

  • isn't it just a note 4? google tells me the pro version hasn't come out yet

    • Yeah i dont think it's the pro version either. The pro version is supposed to have a snapdragon processor

  • They have Original Lenovo K3 Note K50-T5 Android Mobile Phone MTK6752 Octa Core 4G FDD LTE 5.5"FHD 2G RAM 16GB ROM 13MP Camera

for US $108.79 on 11/11 as well.

Great phone I'm using with Android 6.0

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Lenovo-K3-Note-K50-…

  • Is there any place to get the Int'l version/32GB that WON'T take "up to 40 days" but still at a fairly decent price?

I mean, a seller that you'd recommend as consistent & speedy?

    Ta

(ps- looking as a gift for someone but need it by 1 Dec.)

    • The best thing is to pay the extra ~$16 for DHL shipping

      • Where do you see ~$16? I see US $50.78 for DHL

        • I was referring to the post before mine (@Geekomatic) who I thought was after the 32GB/3GB Redmi Note 3 Special Edition express posted.

    • I ordered from (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Official-Global-Version-Xiao…) on the 27th and recieved it on the 9th.

      • Which postage option did you choose?

        • Just the free one. It came with tracking, but tracking still says it's "arrived at airport", even though I have it.
