  • .. What is the cost of porting from Exetel when the 6 months is up

    • Zero

  • Never had issues with Exetel….well that's a small lie.
I should say any issue I have had has been dealt with promptly by the first person I spoke to.
    Very impressed.

2 x mobile numbers coming your way Exetel :D

    • Thanks birnie! Welcome to the Exetel family!

  • Hi OP,

Current fibre to home customer and interested in the IP phone plan which I believe now comes free to new customers.

Considering I am an existing customer and passed the obligatory 12 month lock in period am I able to obtain the IP service free of charge?

I would like to tie the IP phone and SIM card deal together as you've previously mentioned that calls between the two are unlimited?

    • Hi cristobaljames, as soon as you have your ExeSim Saver mobile on the same master home account as your Exetel Broadband and VoIP phone service ExeChat, all calls from your ExeSim Saver service to your Exetel ExeChat VoIP phone number are Free, Unlimited and Un-timed! Great way to stay in touch with your immediate family - get everyone a service. :-)

And this also works (on-account free calls to landline) for our customers who have the traditional Exetel POTS/PSTN phone service bundled with their Exetel Broadband service.

      • +1

So does that mean Exetel to Exetel calls which are not on the same account (eg to a family member's number) would not be free unless it was on the same account? If that is the case then the new number would have to be set up under the existing account?

Also, does the the Saver plan have to be paid for via direct debit, or is there an option to pay manually every month?

    • $600 Included Value

More idiotic bullshit using made up numbers to manipulate consumers by de-linking what's being sold from what's being paid. (profanity) Exetel and every other telco that does it (that's all of them).

The practise is banned for being outright manipulative in various coutries such as New Zealand.

    • Agree with this. They also do not make it very obvious the rate it is charged at. The Charges section says "$1.10/min for excess usage". Can only presume this is the same rate used to calculate how many minutes you get in the "included value".
Aldi mobile has a plan that has $75 of included value. Some may dismiss them, thinking that Exetel's $600 value is way more. However, Aldi's charge rate is only 10c/min, so you get more minutes included in Aldi's plan, and don't forget that you will be much worse off with Exetel not long after you exceed the allowance.
Exetel "Spend Control" function is mentioned, but it isn't really a solution - more a ransom. "Pay $1.10/minute, or limit your spend" - but at least the option is there.

  • Hi OP,
From what I read, it sounds like Exetel employs calendar days billing i.e. Resets on 1st of month.
Then what happens when one signs up on the 15th? Would the first bill be $0? Since $20/2 -$10 = 0 OR $5? ($20-$10)/2?

Also, can you suspend the service if you are going overseas?

    Thanks in advance!

    • I signed up on 14/10. My bill for part of october and all of november came to 14.79

      • Okay so it's pro-rata, makes sense.
        Thanks for replying LJackson!

My worry with Exetel is that it may be incredibly difficult to port out from them later… Does anyone know/have tried porting out from them?

  • Note for fee-free direct debits:
"A minimum of 14 days notice is required to defer, suspend or alter the drawing schedule."

That makes the final pro-rata'd month even harder to plan out.

Hopefully the SIM arrives ASAP because my Telstra $30 is out of data. Paid $1 for it with a Woolies deal about two years ago.

  • Rep, I just put my order for porting from amaysim. Did not receive any confirmation email. Could you check if my order will be progressed?

  • Can I use this only for two months? And will I incur any fees if I don't port out but just cancel the service? Thanks.

  • Anyone still waiting for their sim card? Taking forever to receive mine.

    • Just share my experience: I use direct debit as the payment method. Initial debit made on the 5th, as of today (9th) they said they don't even have the money on their account yet after four full business days!

How long did it take for you to get the sim car delivered?

      • Around a week and it was mailed with priority.

  • Offer extended to December 31
