Title doesn't mention eBay. You must be new here. 😉

    • +26

Yes it's my first day of OzKinder. Sometimes I get too excited by the price.

  • +1

Looks like mobieciti has too much stock, and are not moving well.

    • +6

Or perhaps they want a killer deal for Black Friday? Taking advantage of big sale events is a great way of making money. The phone has always been popular here at least. :)

Taking advantage of big sale events is a great way of making money

Most businesses love this one simple trick.

        • Evidently some people don't know this simple trick 🤣🤣 Something I learned in my first day of OzKinder.

  • Dimensity 7300?

    • +2

It's a chip used in mobile phones.

      • -4

        Really?

          • @hippo2s: It's this particular chip a high end or low end one? Or what would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon equivalent?

            • +1

@Trishool: If you are looking at a $350 phone as your budget, you have to decline you own questioning on the issue if the CPU is high end. It is good enough for making fast phone calls and is also super fast in sending text messages. Also good for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.Hell even a $150 Android phone will do all of the above well enough.

              • @Dollar Dreamer: Great point. Relative to what the usage scenarios are, I feel the SOC meets all requirements for 99% of users.

The performance of this SOC is more than good enough to be competitive. If in doubt, head into a local store ask for a phone with this chip and test it out.

I have not seen or experienced any slow down, although I am still installing apps and migrating over. And I have been a long time Snapdragon user. I am very happy with the price and the only thing I lose is 3.5mm jack (hard to come by nowadays) but that's not a SOC issue.

              • @Dollar Dreamer: My bad, I thought this phone was on half price sale from $700 hence the question, I didn't see it was down from $400.

                • @Trishool: It is super fast at making phone calls and sending text messages and also in Facebook / Social Media sites. That's all you need from a phone for $350.

                • @Trishool: Yes, $350 is half price.

  • +1

    that battery though….

    • +3

Battery has been good for me. Currently on 60%. Used it to play my podcast during my hour commute both ways and used it on and off during the day. 45 min lunch break and Spotify since I got home at 4

    • +1

Should be fine given the processor. Efficiency is pretty good on Mediatek these days.

      Bigger is always better though.

    • HEAVY-users: beware 4300mAh battery…can be forgiven considering many features @ $350.

Android14 & APPs are power hungry than ever.
Imo, GSMarena's battery review don't pass the smell-test.
Go to the link below, 'Battery life' & 'Add an additional device', add ALL Edge-50 model & compare, https://www.notebookcheck.net/Motorola-Edge-50-Neo-smartphon…

  • wooh bloody good deal this. Wish the phone had a bigger battery and two physical sim slots.

    • +2

e-sims are way better, especially for travel.

      • Why's that?

        • +1

No needing to find stores or fiddle about with those tiny suckers.
You can have more than one and swap with a couple of taps. If one fails, go to the next.
Lots of cheap e-sims and free trials etc.

  • +2

Dammit I bought this last week :(

Decent phone so far for the price!

    • +1

Where did you buy it? If you get from JB, you can get a refund with 14 days.

      • Only if still sealed.

        • +1

Sorry, I should say Refund. I meant Refund of the differences!

        • He should have kept it sealed…

      • Mobiciti! Only an extra 50 bucks or so but still

        • +1

Oh, you won't get the money back as the $50 discount is provided by eBay.

      • Yep, I've used the price guarantee years ago when the TV I bought went down in price by $50. It was just outside the 14 days but they gave me $50 cash anyway. That wasn't credit, I was given an actual pineapple.

  • Great price!
Does this phone support ReadyFor (desktop mode) via usb-c hub? Anyone know?

    • +1

Based off Motorola's comparability checker it only supports it wirelessly. I've really enjoyed using it with my Motorola thinkphone and am considering getting a neo (bought a US thinkphone model and it struggles rurally without band 28 unfortunately).

  • Will the samsung a55 5g come on sale similar to this?

They are similar spec but i think i would prefer the a55.

    • In the same boat, it might go to 450 but not any lower. You're also missing out on wireless charging and potentially the e-sim as most of the cheaper a55 deals are for the international model (without E Sim)

I'm probably going pull the trigger on this

      • I went for this and I'm happy. I've been waiting for A55 to come down for 6 months and it hasn't yet.

  • +1

does diag port get removed upon root?

  • +11

This is a LOT of phone for $350. If Motorola/Lenovo can prove their new 5yr update promise with this phone, I'll make the jump from Samsung. Stock-ish Android is a drawcard for me.

    • +5

More accurately at $699 RRP 5 OS updates sounds more believable than the on sale price of $359.

      • True. Hopefully this spurs Nothing to up their game. Their devices are also super compelling to me.

        • +2

They would have to make a smaller, thinner and lighter phone by removing all the frills.

      • 5 update what!

        • Yeah, more than their current 'flagships' XD

  • +2
  • +1

Love that the bezels are even. It's one of the small things that many budget phones can't get right.

    • The bottom bezel is a little thicker than sides and top

      • Oh lol. I couldn't even tell. So a good thing then ;)

        • +1

Yeah it's not noticeable during normal use, they are much smaller than on Nothing phone which people shouldn't be comparing to (but they will anyway).

  • +2

I bought two from Mobileciti's last deal ($397 ea) for my parents, due to the 3G shutdown rendering our Poco and Xiaomi phones (both VoLTE capable) useless.

Very impressed with this phone. The auto-brightness can be a bit twitchy at times, but otherwise the hardware and software both seem very nice. Highly recommend if you're looking for a decent mid-range phone.

    • +1

My Poco F5 working fine on Boost Mobile (Telstra).

      • Yeah I heard Telstra is mostly fine. Unfortunately we're on Coles Mobile (Optus)…

    • Do you see an issue with Camera laggy?

      • I noticed there is AI post processing which does result in delay about a second after taking the shot
but it does improve the photos alot. And that's a software thing. I actually don't mind it because it forces you to slow down and consider photo taking (kinda like old school film camera) instead of taking multiple shots of crap, and the results from post processing is very good.

    • My poco F3 is working fine. I did have to change it to ALDI mobile (Telstra) but that took me like 10min

      • Yup and your F3 is still faster than this phone

        • I am not sure about that. We don't use phones maxed out at full throttle for long enough period to notice unless you are a very dedicated hardcore mobile gamer.

I am on a F5 but I feel the experience is same between downloading, opening apps, switching between apps etc.

So technically, yes, but in reality, not so much.

          • @hippo2s: Yeah you're right, that's why flagships most of the time are a complete rip off unless you need a really good camera

    • Poco X3 works on all networks except Optus

    • Have you found any good screen protectors for them? Started looking on Aliexpress, and the offer seems limited. I haven't found one with good reviews and there's a few without any reviews on Aussie websites.

  • Do Motorolas have any obvious cons? I remember I read something about that in the past in another deal but not the details

    • +1

The Camera's are not that great. Apart from that they are pretty damn good.

      • +1

Fortunately there's a few GCAM Configs around that make it better.

        • Do you know of any gcam Configs for the Moto g85?

          • +1

@Never pay retail: I hear BSG ports are good, i.e. BSG 7.1 or 9.1. Otherwise LMC 8.4.

This comment has a few more links too.

            • @Clear: What to do with BSG? Just install the apk or do I need to root the device as well?

          • @Never pay retail: I have used a gcam mod for my g85 but ended up going back to the phone app. I thought the phone app did a better job than the gcam port.

            • @sunday9987: same here, when you zoom in and try to capture a distant TEXT in the image, OG cam does it right and Gcam won't even read. So yeah I deleted Gcam, not what I expected it to be,

        • Was looking for gcam, couldn't find a non buggy one. The one I got kept crashing.
Which ones you know of? (For neo)

      • It had a big issue with Camera laggy?

    • +2

Samsung dude here, bought the Motorola razr when it came out the big difference is the Samsung software is polished easy to use out of the box when transferring media etc to PC where as motorola you have to install Motorola rescue assistant just to grab a photo of your phone…..Pissed me off so much sold it and bought Samsung flip4…..Now caveat Motorola Razr flip never has any screen issues like my Samsung flip4 I have to replace the screen cover for the second time , this time not under warranty.

    • +1

I wouldn't say Motorola in general, but this phone in particular has Gorilla Glass 3, which is not that fantastic. It will not scratch very easily, but it will shatter at very short drops. Not for clumsy people like me

  • -2

350 to 400 is a normal price in Asian countries. Just checked price in Philippines and India.

    • +8

Welcome to Australia. First time visiting?

      • Thanks, First time buying a non apple/samsung phone online 😅

      • In some cases its reverse. For example PS5 digital is 550 here and 900 in India. This is due to companies expecting more ongoing revenue from an Australian consumer than an Indian consumer.

  • Camera is meh.

  • +1

Is 4300mah battery okay for a day's use? Seems a bit low for 2024 phones

  • +1

Does it work on all networks? can it call 000?

    • +2

      Yes. It's not an import.

  • Assuming this craps all over the TCL posted yesterday at $397?

    • -1

Different use case, that one has NXTPaper technology. More like a ebook reader.
