The colour scheme for this phone is atrocious. No Succulent Green no deal.

    125W fast charging ++

    • Doesn't that reduce battery life though?

      • These budget Android phones are not kept in circulation for 8-10 years like most iPhones. The software support dies well before the battery does.

        • iPhone 8-10yrs …. ?! I don't think so buddy

        • The software support dies well before the battery does

Feel free to provide a source that support 1 hr charging won't kill your battery.

My source is in this link, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16381829/redir

          Charging via 125W wall-charger: claimed ~ 22m, depending on the paid/bias sites.

I have the phone for about some months bought from previous deal . It's been pretty solid except for a few flaws.

The charging is a main star it fills up in 15 min . I mostly just charge for 7 or 8 min to fill it to 80% .

Performance is good no issue or anything unless you try to play something like infinity Nikki you won't have any issues playing most games on medium setting .

Fingerprint scanner is vastly better coming from Samsung A series phone

Some drawback for people who are potentially looking to buy.

If you are someone who likes shooting photo , the camera app does lag and focus sometimss issue it's been a known issue since launch hasn't been fixed . The photos are solid just inconsistent with focus and can't open and shoot sometimes

The front screen is an unknown gorilla Glass I dropped it from bed directly onto the corner without the case ( mostly my own fault ) it has a small crack there so something to keep in mind

Other minor issues accessories is somewhat rare even on AliExpress. I got and stockpile a bunch of tpu case and screen protector.

The android 15 has new issue where if you set the colour white to material U system and notification theme it turns yellow with no way to make it white as of now .

Motorola said they won't be bringing ai features to the 50 pro but you still get Gemini and magic eraser in Google photos.

If you have any questions feel free to ask

I have this phone also and agree with all you have stated. What I love best is the finger scanner actually works, I had a Pixel 7, finger scanner was rubbish. Find the phone is responsive and fast charge works well. I use a desktop 50W Xiaomi wireless dock, works well with charging. I purchased several cases for between $15-$25 also and settled on a AIORIA black leather look case from Ali for $5 which works well and gives protection without bulk. Camera is as good as I have had on other phones, works well for me.

    • Is the quality of the selfie/front camera good in your opinion?

I'm basically forcing myself to stream and video chat as exposure therapy, I had thought about going a G75 but missed the $75 coupon and then this popped up.

I will be honest , I don't really take photo of myself but from what I have tested it seems to take solid photo but there's about 5 to 6 seconds of processing time for each shot . It boosts the hdr a bit after processing but Photo looks solid from my experience

If you want this for an even cheaper price, it's $498 at Harvey Norman

        • Just checked and yes it is cheaper at HN $498, good price!

        • thanks for pointing that out, im lucky I didnt pay my first order's invoice. This is cheaper AND i can pick it up today.
I let the mods know that this post is already out of date and they asked if I could make a new post.

Your formatting on the recent Moto deals was great though, would you be willing to do the new post for the Edge 50 pro?

      • I'm a Pro Photographer so tend to use real cameras, but when you just need a quick photo or video I find it more than adequate. Check the https://www.dxomark.com/smartphones/Motorola/Edge-50-Ultra not the same phone but would think its close.

Are you sure you've got the edge 50 pro? Coming from pixels too, I've found the lag on the Motorola awful to the point where I carried two phones around Europe for a couple of months recently - a pixel 8 (which gives me migraines after extended use) for photos and the edge 50 pro for everything else.

If you've got a kid they're basically out of frame by the time the Motorola decides to actually take the shot.

          • +1

@whatboutbob: I have pro, and rely on it as phone more than camera, agree there is lag and for what you say, kids sure I can see your point. I am guessing the lag is a sharpening process and only happens in some situations that I have experienced. The finger scanner works on the edge 50 pro, never worked on my Pixel 7, was really frustrating. Photos maybe superior on the Pixel, but I am very happy with my 50pro for my use.

            • @MMM: Agree 50pro fingerprint scanner vastly superior to pixels. It just works.

        • I think the selfie camera is the only camera in common with the Pro and the Ultra.
The Pro camera has a faster F1.4 lens though, the ultra has F1.6 on its main camera.

      • The selfie camera has autofocus, it is a good one.

    • @MMM @LimeAlz

Any reason why do charge to 100% & do you think that this practice will kill your battery ?

      Pls share your battery-health, thanks

      • I try to not charge it 100% but there's no hard 80% limit on Motorola there's overcharge safe which slow down at 80% .

My battery life is ,96% on accubattery

        • Using AccuBattery: charging test, 5W vs 125W…feel free to share your findings with room-temp. info during the test, thanks.

AccuBattery: can set it to charm-alarm only.

  • Not sure why they call these a pro when the Geekbench scores are only slightly higher than a Moto G75.

  • Price matched Hardly Normal. Had a gift card from work too. Got it for mum to replace an old motorola phone (6 years old).

  • I purchased two of these phones on the last deal, unfortunately my one fell from less than 1m onto a tiled floor and cracked the screen only after a few days.
Apart from that the aspects I really liked about the Edge 50 Pro were:

    1. Slightly more compact but similar form factor than what I was coming from (S20 FE), so more ergonomic to use.
    2. Lighter weight and water resistant
    3. Clear and bright screen
    4. Main (F1.4) and selfie cameras seem to be quite good when held still, focused and metered on your subject.
    5. Processor is adequately responsive
    6. Plenty of RAM and storage
    7. The fast charging is jaw droppingly quick. Fast wireless charging also. Outstanding.
    8. 125W USB-C charger included. I use this on everything.

Drawbacks were the fragility of the screen (it could have just been an unlucky drop), PWM was irritating (fixed by an app for me), battery runs out faster than I would have liked (although mitigated by the ultra fast charging), and the camera does seem to lag its capture - particularly if you use the flash.

Anyhow I really liked many aspects of the phone, but when my one broke I decided to purchase the Edge 50 Ultra as a replacement, it also lags the camera at times but has better cameras (although main lens is not as fast as pro, I think the overall camera package is better), better case options, and I found the PWM on this screen to be much better for my eyes (although on paper the screens seem quite similar, there are improvements to brightness, durability and for me their flicker free dimming approach is superior) even though it cost twice the price I am happier with the ultra (although the Ultra was not a bargain unfortunately).
