Amicroe Bluetooth Keyboard & Trackpad Folio Case for Surface Pro 3 & Others $10 @ HN (Normally $129.99) & More Clearance Items

280

After jumping on the awesome Surface Pro 3 deal, I've been looking around for decent accessories.

I noticed quite a few on the HN site and decided to pop into the stores to get them and check stock before making an OZB post. I got an Incipio sleeve case for $15 and the keyboard/trackpad folio case for $10. I would have got the screen protector too if I didn't already have a few different kinds on the way from eBay already, including a tempered glass once which I will most likely settle on.

The folio case is a much better keyboard than the type cover, however it's also much larger, thicker and has it's own battery that needs to be charged - the trackpad is also very poor. It's still incredible for $10 and offers another option for typing on the go. I think if I was sitting down at a desk in front of the Surface with the intention of working on it, that using this folio case and my MX master mouse is the way to go. I was going to use an Apple bluetooth keyboard, but this folio case appears to be a copy of it, including in tactile feedback which is awesome.

Strange, it was $8 before. I wonder why they raised the price.

After jumping on the awesome Surface Pro 3 deal deal

You flew to Singapore to buy a Surface Pro 3? :)

    • How did I screw that up lol?

      Fixing now… and fixed :)

Now we all know you're looking to fly to singapore!

Also might be worth noting the keyboard is magnetically attached to the folio case, so you can detach it and use it elsewhere, e.g. as a media center keyboard for the living room TV.

        • Oh yeah, it almost has enough strength to stick to my fridge.

It's actually a very decent keyboard for the money, the case is just a bonus!

Here's a comparison pic I just took with the Apple bluetooth keyboard, they are very similar in layout and tactile feedback:

I had no idea how I got that link tbh, maybe it was subconscious as I have been eating Singapore Noodles very often over the last few months..

  • Word of warning. Make sure you check the product before you leave the store. The One I was given was missing keys on the keyboard!!!

  • So can you use as wireless keyboard for a laptop connected to tv?

    • +1

Yup, as long as the laptop has bluetooth.

  • HN (Normally $129.99) is this exageration?
I thought Amicroe range was bottom level stuff I saw at MSY a year or two ago. Very possibly wrong.
Happy to remove comment if I'm wrong.

It is bottom level stuff, but that didn't stop HN from putting a $129.00 sticker on the box. I did get that wrong in the title after looking at the box, the RRP is $0.99c less than the title.

But for bottom level stuff, it's actually a nice piece of kit. The folio case itself is the usual PU leather wrapped and stitched around thick cardboard and doesn't particularly inspire, but the keyboard is surprisingly good. The trackpad however is very poor.

  • Can it be used on with a galaxy note 10.1 2014 device by any chance?

    • Yes, it can be used on all devices that allow bluetooth keyboards. I can't comment on if it would fit nicely in the case though, but the keyboard separates and will work. Maybe you could compare the dimensions of your tablet against the Surface Pro 3 to see if it may fit?

This uses bluetooth 3.0, but I believe it is backwards compatible (not that most people would be using devices that are older than bluetooth 3.0). I could be wrong about backwards compatibility, but I can't think of any device I own besides a Nokia 6110 navigator in storage that would have bluetooth older than 3.0

      • AFAIK BT is always backwards compatible, as long as the device supports BT keyboard profile it will work. I remember my Lumia 920 didn't, I assume MS sorted that out by now

  • this will fit my incoming Chuwi HI12 nicely.. thanks

  • I use it with a Chuwi Hi12 successfully. I wanted the magnetic Chuwi Hi12 keyboard but have grown to prefer having the keyboard remote from the tablet in the folio stand with a few cut outs for ports. The touch pad is small but works reliably. The fake leather started to detach around the keyboard surround and I glued it back. Battery lasts a long time. I paid $20 plus.

    • How responsive are the keys?

  • Another short review. I picked it up this morning and am using it with a Samsung Slate 7 running W10 (Note: It doesn't fit my tablet properly but I guess that would be the case and might be able to work around that). The keyboard is well spaced and feels full size, however while you can understand that travel is not going to be amazing, it's a bit firm. This might loosen up over time I guess, but for now if I don't hit each key true then it may drop a character.

The touch pad is tiny, but it's useful considering you are bound to be using this with touch screen device (if using as expected). Between the two, you will get by. I usually prefer the touch screen, however from time to time you need a mouse/touchpad and this will do. The only issue (apart from size) is that if you are a two finger scroller then you may find that it is zooming in and out while you scroll if you aren't careful.

The real issue with this device is will it pass the use for work test? I think if I gave it to someone who had to work all day on it, they'd be frustrated. Having said that for 10 bucks it's worth it for anyone who's a two finger typer, or mainly wants a case and he keyboard is a bonus, or isn't typing a lot. People paying $1150 and up for Surfaces (I know the 3 can be had for less) aren't even going to be considering this.

Just noticed as I type this it won't allow some keyboard shortcuts, eg. if you hold shift and hit a cursor key to highlight a letter it works, but if you try to highlight the word it doesn't (only allows 1 combination and subsequent click kills the holding for the shift (not sure if this is the case for other BT keyboards but I've never experienced this).

  • I appreciate this post is for the SP3 but would these bags/sleeves also fit my SP4? I think the dimension is almost the same?
