  • According to the DeLonghi website this model has been discontinued. Seems to have mostly decent reviews though.

  • Anyone with experience with this machine? Looks like a decent price for a fully automatic

    • I picked up a similar model last year, and I have no complaints.

However, I'd rather one of the versions with a built in cappuccino system.

    • I have one and it's great. Using beans is a lot cheaper than pods too.

My only complaint is that it doesn't warn you when the water level is low, only when it's empty. It means you end up with a few half full cups along the way if you don't check it regularly.

    • I have had the same model for few years now and it is going strong. Previously I had 2 other similar fully automatic coffee machines (Saeco and Sunbeam) and this is one is better in terms of build quality, design, durability, easier to clean.

    • Not this particular model but very close, love it paired with the breville milk frother.

I'd suggest using filtered water if you can

    • I've had mine for about 18 months and paid a similar price. I do wish the water container was larger, but have no regrets with my purchase.

  • A good machine IMHO. I got mine refurbished from Delonghi in last sales for $333 :)

  • This is a pretty good price for a quality coffee machine and will last you years. I have the Magnifica ESAM3500 (I think that's the model number) for more than 8 years now I think, and it is still working like a beast. It is a higher model with the milk jug but this one is fine if you're happy with making your own froth. Had to replace a few consumables over the years, mostly for the frothing part, such as the plastic tube, the milk jug cracked after daily use, but the prices for most accessories were reasonable. Only took the machine in for service once, probably after about 6 years of use, and even then the technician said the machine is still in fine working order. I know it's not exactly the same model but I think all the machines from the Magnifica range should be of similar quality.

These brand name machines are so expensive
I got this one for around $450 in December and it's already made over 2,000 coffees without incident yet (yes it's 'commercial use')

Even if it only lasts a year, I am pretty happy considering how many coffees it's made

    • How did you get it that cheap? Is the milk troth any good and is the coffee hot enough?

    • Wow, negging. Not surprised. Cognitive dissonance is a powerful psychological mechanism…..

        It's a fair neg.

You complained that the brand name product was too expensive - then suggested an off-brand product that's the SAME price.

You linked to a review site that rated the brand product 3.7 / 5.
Not mentioning the off-brand you suggested only has one product on that same review site - 2.9 / 5.

          Nowhere near the same features
          DeLonghi equivalent is over $1000

If you don't mind getting it from Amazon Germany and having an EU power plug it costs 323.66 EUR (incl shipping), roughly 476.83 in AUD. And this is their everyday price.

    • wow, nice find! comes to $494.82 when I use Amazon's currency converter.

    • It might be worth paying more though, to get 2 years local warranty.

      • Yes - coffee machines are pretty peculiar- you'll never know if they'll fail at some point.

  • Hav ean older delogi i got from 2nds world for $400 earlier this year. Makes a decent coffee. love the manna beans jamocha.

the water jug is a bit small, but i'm in the habbit of having a quick check on the side so rarely run out mid coffee anymore.

overall have been quite happy with the machine. top it up with filtered water so don't descale it as often as it wants to be.

  • For a dollar or two more, probably better off adding some descaler (this or this), since you won't need pods with your shiny new machine..
