  • Good find!

Have you guys noticed that the screen is actually just a square one covered with a piece of round cover?

    • +15

Have you noticed that, even on square faced watches, that the hands still go around in a circle :-)

      • +2

        Mind = Blown

    • +1

Really? Guess that explains the ugly massive bezel.

      • -1

what? the ad says "Pebble Time Round
The world’s lightest and thinnest smartwatch."

The World’s Lightest and Thinnest Smartwatch
So thin and light, it’s pretty easy to mistake Pebble Time Round for a normal watch. Sure, it’s great at telling time, with an always-on screen that’s super easy to read, even in bright daylight. It just also happens to do lots of other awesome things you’ll love.

        • +4

          What's your point?

Despite the marketing BS, it still has the largest bezel on any smartwatch I've seen. I don't think you know what bezel is.

        • @PainToad: When you mention that it has an bezel, that means the watch stashes money away for you, right? Neat!

        • The one with the bezel

          @lukerips:

Chris Rock reference from a Kanye track..!?

Octagon! Sarah and duck will love it! ;-)

        • Hahahahaha, just looked it up. It seems that way.

        • Found the OzBargainer with kid(s). ;)

Actually, you're dead wrong. That was purely speculation, and was proven wrong.

      • -1

Who in god's name downvoted me? What I was is 100% correct..

    • Ummm nope, the panel is actually round

  • +2

Bah bought one like 3 weeks ago. Good looking watch but I'm struggling to find interesting stuff to do with it that doesn't require a huge amount of tinkering.

    • people says you can integrated with automation software like tasker etc

    • +7

If you don't like tinkering, you bought the wrong watch.

      • Yeah fair enough. Was hoping the community was big enough now that there would be a lot more ready-made stuff.

        • Can I ask what you want to do with it that you don't think you can?

    • pm me, if you would like to sell it, thanks.

    • Tinkering gets old anyway. It's still super useful for multiple alarms throughout the week, notifications, stopwatch, music control, health, and of course telling the time - all of which is built in

  • +2

Shame about the battery life- reviews say about 2 days between charges. 15 min quick charge is not bad I guess.

Comparatively fine compared to the mainstream smart watches (Samsung, Apple, etc.) But Pebble watches have been known for their longer battery, so it's an annoying trade-off for a thinner watch.

    • +1

It's so thin though. I personally think it's the only smartwatch that you can mistake for a real watch from side.

    • +2

Own one as a christmas gift. Barely 1.5 days if you have notifications and bluetooth enabled.

    • Yeah i believe this model is more aesthetic orientated. I held this side by side with other smart watches and its well over half the thickness! Makes sense for the battery to take a hit.

      • And a massive bezel (sorry, I had to say that). When my girlfriend was looking for a smartwatch, she specifically wanted a round smartwatch. We had a few candidates, Pebble Round was out because of the bezel (she had a mixed opinion, that said I personally didn't like the white model from seeing it IRL so I kinda veto'ed).

  • How does it compare with other smart watches out there, for example, the Huawei one?

  • New one coming out soon???

    • It does say this one is being discontinued.

    • Yep Pebble 2 just finished its fundraising campaign on KickStarter.

      • Pebble 2 doesnt extend to pebble round at this stage.

  • Temporarily out of stock

  • Damn I currently have the silver one and would really like to get the black one, too bad it isnt on sale too

  • +1

The Mrs wants to get a Apple Watch but at the price of almost $500 for a basic one and then $800-1k for the middle one, this is great value with a better battery

Pity rose gold isn't on sale

    • She can get 1 Pebble watch or 2 plastic Apple bands (leather or metal costs more than this).

  • My original Pebble is giving me the shits. The screen scrambles unless I scroll through the menu and back out.

    • +2

It's called screen tearing, a known fault.

Used to be if you reported it they sent you a new watch, it might be money towards a Time now.

And you can fix it if you want.

      • Hi. I have the original pebble and LOVE it,but yes screen tearing very much a known issue. They replaced it no problem - great customer service there. and I still have the original HOW do you fix the screen tearing???

    • -1

Known issue, contact support for some money towards a Time, or if you're lucky, a Time for free :)

  • +1

Love my pebble time and pebble round. The changes to the round pebble take two arent that different. Just colour to stainless silver and gold if i recall correctly?

  • +1

Bought a Huawei Watch after using a pebble time steel thinking it would be an upgrade. Ended up hating android wear and the watch itself and bought the Pebble Time Round. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

    • Can I ask why?

    • +1

Once you go Pebble, you simply can't go back.

      • I went Pebble to Android Wear. Won't be going back.

        • Fair enough, what made you switch, out of curiosity?

  • Nice now time for Apple to do the same for their watches, drop the dam prices!!

  • Is this thing still using e-ink?

    • Yep

    • The colour-display Pebbles use e-paper, which is actually completely different. Still reflective though, so looks gorgeous in sunlight :)

      • Does the display remain on at all times?

        • Yes.

        • +1

Yep, but there has to be a light source, as the display is reflective and relies on external light (think back to the Game Boy). At night, or in a dark room, you have to flick your wrist or press a button to activate the watches backlight for a few seconds.

        • @deanylev: I thought the gameboy was dark because it didn't have a backlight. I have the first gen GBA, and it is utterly unplayable. Complete waste of $150.

  • They literally closed the deal as I was in cart :(

  • What OS does it use, and what's the app support like?

    • I wanted to add that, I think the white screen bezel which shows minutes (00, 05, 10, 15, etc) is a waste of real estate. Who doesn't know what the minutes are? It's pretty thick at that. I'd rather the clock face be expanded all the way to the edge of the glass.

I also see some inconsistency with the roman numerals on XII, III, VI, and IX. Why is the III tilted to the side, and the VI upside down? You're probably thinking, well because if you're being consistent then the III should be 90 degrees tilted, and the VI should be upside down. If you were rotating the watch they'd appear the right way up when viewed at the 12:00 position. But then the IX is the right way up… shouldn't it be tilted sideways also like the III?

If they're going to make the IX right way up, why not make VI and III right way up also? Makes it easier to read. Either IX should be sideways, or III and VI should not.

      • They didn't build those in in addition to the bezel, the display module itself has a thick internal bezel, so they had to make the glass have a thick bezel too, those markings are purely decorative. The Pebble Time 2 solves this, hopefully the Round 2 does too (there was a cancelled Round prototype the Pebble CEO had on with nice small bezels, here's a photo http://imgur.com/tkF69I8)

        • Ugh, in that case, I don't think it's a good design. Let me know when they can get it without a thick bezel. I know these things take time, so I'll wait.

But what's with the IX not being slanted like the III?

        • @lostn: Maybe 三 is not III but actually Chinese character for 3 (which is 三). Eh, it's just the watch face, you can change to other things if you want anyways.

    • Pebble OS 3.0, and there's thousands and thousands of awesome apps.

  • I added this to cart yesterday and then ran away. Not a bad looking watch and I've enjoyed the original pebble but the two-day battery life is a deal beaker on a watch - even at this price. Next model will do better on this measure.

    • 2 day battery life is the best you can expect currently, except for the monochrome Pebble which lasts a week.

      • No, all the square ones last at least "a week" (in quotation, because it's what the manufacturer claims, Pebble Round's "2 days" is also a claim by the manufacturer). It's not the colour display (technically round body would've reduced the battery they've included as well, but that aside) that is the problem, but rather, it's the battery they've taken out for the thickness (for "design").
