Samsung Galaxy S7 32GB on 24mth Plan with 8GB Data Per Month for $70/Month + "Free" Gear VR @ Virgin Mobile

860

My first deal, and I never expected it to be for a mobile phone plan but there you go.

Seems quite a decent deal, Galaxy S7 with 8gig of data per month for 70 bucks a month over 24 months on virgin mobile (Optus MVNO).

So that's $1,680 over the term. The phone is worth about $800, meaning your paying $880 for the service, or $37/month with 8GB of data. Plus you get a free Gear VR.
Seems like a good deal to me!

For those who missed out on a gear because they bought it in March, i emailed samsung promotions, and they were happy to send me one. So just email them :)

  • Yes!! Was just waiting for this!! Almost signed up a couple of weeks ago but decided to wait for EOFY… time to pull the trigger me thinks

  • How about a 3GB deal for say $50 per month. Then I'd be very tempted.

  • Just wondering if Virgin Mobile is the best value plans for international calls ?

  • Does anyone know if this is a Virgin Mobile branded phone, which will make the owner wait forever for Android updates?

    • I am sure that there is no "Virgin mobile" firmware (I was going to check on Sammobile for firmware to double check, but it seems to be not working). That said, I can definitely say that there were only 4 firmware brands that applied to Australia which were Voda, Optus, Telstra and Unlocked for S6, and I think it was the case for S7 as well.

Even if there is a firmware specifically for Virgin, since there is only one model for Australia, G930F, you can use Odin to flash Unlocked Australian firmware. Since it's just flashing the official firmware, it wouldn't trip the KNOX counter as well.

      • Dude, I've rooted many phones before and I've come to a point that if I can choose not to have to bother about it, I would choose it (in this case, an unbranded phone), besides the warranty implications involved. I will try to talk to the Virgin chat and see what they tell me.

        • It's just flashing the official firmware so there would be no implications to warranty. Doesn't knock the KNOX trigger.

That said you do need to download the entire firmware which goes up to 2gb. So I guess you'd be better off talking to Virgin.

  • I still have 6 months on contract with my S5 otherwise I'd be all over this.
