Designed as a server, not as a workstation. Doesn't like discrete graphics, this particular CPU isn't all that good either.

I'd prefer buying a 2nd hand laptop and a bunch of usb3 hard disks over this for home use. That would be quieter, faster, more flexible, with battery (ups) and wifi ready.
You're not much of an IT Veteran if you're suggesting using a laptop with USB drives and wifi as a server over, well, a server.
The laptop would use a lot more power, the laptop would die long before this unit as laptops are not designed as always on device.
Also with USB drives what kind of redundancy or you going to have? These units smoke laptops in what they are designed at doing. Just as laptops smoke these units for a portable device. They are built and designed for two completely different things.
Just reporting that I got mine REALLY quickly - ordered one day, received the next! Great machine, was a pain in the bum to get the latest SPP (ended up having to get it from a torrent…), it's really worth getting the Advanced ILO licence (there are some floating around…) - top little server!
The short answer is no. The long answer ends up there too.
