  • My $10 for 3 month plan finishes 30th Feb, and this groupon expires 25th Feb, what's a good day to port out and port back in, so I don't miss out on many days.

    • I your porting out to telstra, do it on a Monday. Usually takes a few hours. Then Port back in right away

      Make sure your name and DOB is the same as the amaysim sim

  • Since this is for new customers only and I'm currently on the 3 months for $10, will I have to sign up to a new amaysim account to activate the sim, or am I able to port out and back in and use same amaysim account.

  • I bought one of the Groupon deals looking to activate in 2 weeks once my existing $10 for 3 months plan expires. Just noted a revision by OP which added a $10 referral bonus which I thought would be nice if I could make that work. Will I be able to use the "NOW50" referral code alongside Groupon's redemption code? Wouldn't the referral bonus require a new payment of 50% for the first 2 months? Any advice appreciated.

    • You can only enter one promotion code on the Amaysim website . So would be either the Groupon code or NOW50 code

      • Thanks @easternculture, that makes sense. So for those who have bought the Groupon deals under this thread will not be able to get the $10 referral bonus/credit. Perhaps this needs to be updated?

          Sorry [@easternculture] I think I am confused here. Please be patient with a newbie here and feel free to correct where my understanding is wrong? :P

          Here's what I understand: I have paid Groupon $39.90 for a 3 months deal of UNL5GB. To redeem this deal when activating with Amaysim and in order that I don't pay anymore to Amaysim, I must use the Groupon voucher code provided to me where it asks for promo code. Sure I can use the referral code but why would I as by doing so will allow Amaysim to charge me 50% for the next 2 months of my selected plan?

          Therefore, for a new UNL5GB deal is effectively:
          $14.95 per month after the $10 bonus credit using NOW50 code; or
          $13.30 per month per the Groupon deal using the Groupon provided voucher code

          So as I have already bought a Groupon deal and wants to just activate the deal, I should not use NOW50. Not sure if I missed/misunderstood the steps for the Groupon redemption and using the referral code NOW50?

          I believe in clarifying this will also help other OzBargainers who have not yet purchased any of the Groupon deals to understand the relevance of the Amaysim referral link?

          • Click on an amaysim referral link
          • Choose Unlimited 5GB and proceed to checkout
          • At last page of checkout, enter the promo code groupon send you in the promotional field box on the amaysim website

        • @easternculture: Thanks EC, I now see I got confused by the Amaysim NOW50 code given on the referral link. So I just click the referral link but don't use the code. My referrer and I will still get $10 each. Very nice. Thanks! ;-)

  • Anyone having problems with the voucher code? I contacted groupon they said the code still works fine. I ported to lyca mobile and am now trying to port back in to amaysim. Help.

    • No problems with mine which I redeemed last Friday via a referral link. Am still waiting for the SIM to arrive but I chose a new number though. Did you select the correct plan which you paid Groupon for? Mine was UNL5GB. Once I put in Groupon's code, it recognised it as being for 3 months and the total came down to $nil to pay.

      • yea ive tried all that, I even tried putting voucher with no plan to see if it would work. ive tried security code and ive also tried placing it in voucher and promo section.

          It should be the 6 alphanumeric digits voucher code, not the security code. Although the code appeared in CAPS but it worked when entered in lowercase. Try that as well if you haven't already? I entered the code where it asked for "promotional code (optional)". The other things which I did which may or may not have helped:
          - registered the number in my mother's name, so "new" customer.
          - Selected prepaid instead of postpaid

          If it still doesn't work for you, you may wish to try taking it up with Amaysim as I expect they would now if the code is valid at their end and ruling out the possibility of unauthorised redemption unknown to you?

        • I just finished up with amaysim live chat, Ive resolved the problem. I had purchased a sim card instore and tried to activate it through online, thinking it was being done 'online'. Thanks for all your help Mcz, much appreciated!

  • Trying to port from amaysim -> lycamobile. How do I know once the port is complete.

    • Put both sims in your phone (one at a time if you don't have a dual sim phone). When you have no reception on Amaysim and full reception on Lyca then the port is complete.

    1) buy groupon
    2) use code on amaysim website
    3) commence port once current offer ends

    would this be fair to assume?

    • Your #2 must happen before 25 Feb 2016. Then #3 will begin immediately - not at date of your choosing.

      • I am still yet to use the last $10 offer. Amaysim advised the sim is not active until i port over. Was hoipng to bank this for 4 months

        • Oh yes sorry, I misread your comment. You are right, activation & porting happens when you initiate the process. Sorry for the confusion (I didn't read that you were porting over, thought it was a fresh number).

          I have no idea how long amaysim sims can remain dormant without expiring.

  • Did anyone else just receive an SMS from Amaysim that they are reducing a recharge from 30 days to 28 days? They also said that they'd increase the data from 1.0 to 1.5 GB, however I'm not entirely certain they should be able to change the plans? We've already paid…

      It's applicable for recharges of prepaid services after 31st March but you're not recharging for 2/3 months. Interesting situation. Best contact Amaysim customer service. Please report back here what you find out as there will no doubt be other OzBargainers in the same boat.
