365 Days Prepaid SIMs - 140GB $109, 300GB $159, 500GB $189 @ Kogan

1630

Black friday sales on Kogan plans. The 140GB is one of the cheapest 365 day plans available. The 500GB is a lot of data for only $189.

The Vodafone network is expanding significantly by sharing Optus' regional towers. This will improve coverage in those areas.

Catch Connect 360GB $170 if the Optus network is preferred.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2024

  • this or Catch Connect 365-Day Prepaid Plan 120GB $109 (New Customers Only) Delivered @ Catch Connect ?

    • +3

There’s the Optus deal 280GB for $120 after cashback. If you don’t mind signing with them

      • +2

wow, thank you. Found it :
        Optus Pre-Paid SIM 12-Month Expiry 280GB $220 ($320 Thereafter, 200GB from 4th Year) + $100 Cashback via Cashrewards @ Optus

      • Nice deal

      • What's the cheapest way I can get an Optus sim just to test the speed at my home/work?

      • Any ideas which, if any of the deals allow for the sim to be activated in Feb (when my Boost expires)?

        • +1

Optus, I received one last week and the expiry date stated on the package is October 12, 2026.

          • @jimojr: Cheers. How long is that Optus deal for? Tower here used to be terrible (Optus actually sent me to Telstra).

But away from home it was great. Might try the test sim above.

How long is the Optus Deal on for?

    • +1

That Catch Connect one had quite a few complaints about people randomly not being able to call numbers in the comments. No thanks.

      • +7

I’ve used it for years and never had any issues like that.

      • -1

        User error.
Catch Connect uses superior Optus network and it definitely works and better option than being on Vodafone network (Kogan)

  • +11

4G only on the voda network btw - might get congested easily as they're refarming b1 15 to NR in Sydney and Melbourne

    • They've been running 5G trials, presumably to see if they can navigate how to minimise the price increase. If most of the network is getting flipped over that means 5G access will get cheaper, and Kogan will assuredly go with that.

      • I was running a temp Kogan SIM earlier in the year and was getting good 5G speeds in inner Melb (5G connection at 4G speeds more accurately)

Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers or promotional offers. For information about how to use Kogan Mobile vouchers, click here.

    • Came here to ask if anyone knows when the voucher expires. Thanks @kig.

    • Thanks. This is the type of details we need for the optus deal lol

    • +2

Last year's same deal was: Voucher expires at 11:59PM AEDT on 31/12/2023, after buying that they updated expiry to 20 or so January 2024. I had to call them and extent it so. Probably they will do the same this year.
Anyone has good communication with Kogan to ask for it (e.g. 'Clear' even negotiates with AE)?
To activate it in 2025 is important for some reason.

  • Not bad!! When does the deal end?

    • +1

      4th December

  • +1

Nice one, have been waiting for this yearly deal to extend the kids plans. Large is a good price, but not as good as the old buy 1 get 1 free deals.

    • Large one has been $150. I have used that for last 2 renewals

      • That deal is in the EoFY sales….not black Friday…..

  • Hoping Amaysim, comes with something similar….lot of data banking on my existing Amaysim plan so it would be easier

  • Can this be used to recharge an existing Kogan service?

The page says that "Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges" but I think this only means that you can't use the same voucher twice.

    • +4

historically the answer has been yes, but you forfeit any remaining time on your current plan, ie it does not add on to existing

      • +5

Thanks. That should be fine. I only recharge from Black Friday to Black Friday anyway. 😉

      • I have had success in being refunded the balance of remaining year and immediately adding new voucher

        • How do you get the refund from kogan mobile? My plan expires next Feb, thinking of buying the small 365 plan to recharge.

          • @totoro: Literally just call them and ask. I just did it again as I have a Telstra plan for a month. I will port back to Kogan with this deal end of month

  • sh$t I paid like 173 for 170gb Boost yearly.

you can get 300gb the data with this for 159!!

    • Hey mate ,where did you get the boost deal ,can you share the link please .Thanks

      • it was an ebay deal that is no longer around a few weeks ago.

        • No worries .Thanks

  • +1

Was waiting for this and hoping. D3 plan expires next week. So good that now you can just use this to recharge - a few years ago you had to port out and back in again.

  • So they increased it to $150 and then reduced it "27%"?

    • This. Yeah, the plan used to be $99 on sale.

  • 500 GB or the OPTUS DEAL - Currently on Boost with 5GB data remaining…

    • +1

Hit up boost chat. They might give you some free data. Done it twice for me.

      • OMG great, thank you!

  • I've been on the Vodafone network for many years and are very happy with it. My work phone is with Telstra and I often get better reception on V than T in many areas.

  • -4

    Kogan no more
Bad coverage, even worse service, 4g only

  • My Kogan expires in May next year - anyone know any BF deals going around that can be activated around then?

    • +1

I know this is late, but Kogan have refunded a percentage of the plan for me so I could add a new voucher

      • Thanks mate, I'll have a chat to their reps and see if they can do the same for me.

  • +1

Can i buy now and activate later?

  • +1

Bought the Extra Large 500GB for $166.5 by using TCN Shop Gift card with 15% at Coles ($100 + $50 TCN Shop gift card)

    • That’s genius, thanks for the heads up! Just confirming that you bought a $100 and a $50 TCN Shop gift card and had no problems using both together?

      • Sorry for the late reply, that's correct and paid an extra $39 from savings.

    • Can I ask how could we separate payment?
      Thankd!

      • I used only $100 and $50.

  • 4g only?

  • Anyone know how long these Sims will last before needing activation? Our amaysims end around June, is grab a couple of these and sit on them for 7 months if I can

    • +1

      1 month

    • I wouldn't worry too much as around Jun you'll get EOFY sale.

  • When do you need to activate? Can you activate while overseas?

    • You can't, I tried and got burnt.
Paid roaming also before leaving, they wouldn't do it if you are not in the country for some technical reasons that they explained at the time. That's when I was switching from another network.

      • Thanks for the heads up, luckily I'll be back before the plan expires. I'll just renew when I get back to Oz.

      • Hi mate, I am thinking of switching to Kogan, hows Kogan reception in metro and suburbs if you can help answer and also international roaming?
How much did you pay for international roaming. If you dont, can you still receive incoming calls and SMS (I am not interested in roaming data), Thanks a bunch

        • Didn't work at all for me while roaming, that was the whole reason to switch to them, got very upset.
Not a fan of kogan to be honest, their support was pretty useless when we needed help overseas, wasted money on them and they didn't even bother refunding.
Their roaming pricing is all online, probably still misleading or maybe they've fixed it. Phone virtually dies without roaming.

  • Hey, does anybody know if this can be use to renew the current plan for another 365 days?

    • +1

I am an existing customer and bought it today and got an separate email with Voucher code to activate it.. Will do it in couple of days. Spoke to rep on the phone and they confirmed it should be fine.

      • Thank you

      • Hi there, just came across this deal and wondering if you have used this to recharge?

I’m existing kogan prepaid from last Black Friday and want to recharge for another year too.

        • +2

Yup, I have and it worked fine..

  • Are these the plans that are increasing in price? I.e. Small 365 to $179.90?

    • +2

All of the specials have gone up by 5% over the year…$180> $189 @500GB….. The EoFY deals are normally cheaper assuming your SIM renewal cycle accommodates it……..

  • Is this only for new customers or can I use the voucher code for a recharge on existing Kogan plan?

    • +1

Same as above: I am an existing customer and bought it today and got an separate email with Voucher code to activate it.. Will do it in couple of days. Spoke to rep on the phone and they confirmed it should be fine.

  • Voucher expires and need to activate by 31 Dec 2024

    • +1

Last year I bought the 300Gb plan when my previous account expired. 2 days later they offered 500Gb for the same price. I called them and once they figured out what I wanted, cancelled the 300Gb and activated a 500Gb account.I had no phone for 15 minutes or so during the changeover.

I have just checked, and I have only used 149Gb ytd

  • is this for only new customer or also for existing customer? I am currently with Kogan prepaid Sim plans (will exp on 31/12/2024), am I eligible for this deal?

    • +2

  • Hey anyone know how I can switch two plans.

Eg port over one number to here, and another number (my partners) to my previous boost plan?

    • Carriers generally can't / don't allow you to port a number onto an existing service, and any remaining credit is normally forfeited when porting out.

You'd have to call Boost and see if they'll transfer your remaining credit onto your partner's service if they were to port in.

      • Thank you

  • I got a 120Gb for $120 earlier this year and after 8 weeks of crappy coverage at home (had to go outside to make a call), I was hugely impressed with Kogan giving me a refund of the WHOLE amount. Best customer service outcome I've seen.

  • If this is used to recharge an annual plan, will the remaining data in that annual plan be rolled over into the new plan period?

So in my case 49GB remaining added to 140GB = 189GB

Or will it just reset to 140GB?

    • +2

      It will reset

  • +2

Very bad data access and network reception in Toowoomba as of Nov 2024

  • Too bad my amaysim expires in 3 months…

  • I have LycaMobile from a previous deal running Vodafone. It is advertised as a 4g plan the one I signed up to but I get full 5g.

Is this one really just 4g 4g? :D

I actually get better speeds up in NE Melbs than full Optus and Telstra lol.

  • I am currently with boost and recharge looks expensive atm. With kogan do we get text messages while in overseas? Boost I can confirm that we receive text.

    • +1
      • Thank you, looks like hit and miss with the comments.

        • Yeah IKR. Maybe resetting the phone helps

    • +1

Some say that when you enable WiFi calling you basically get roaming for free, whenever you are connected to a WiFi network. I haven't personally tested this, but it makes sense.

  • Hi can anyone confirm will Kogan mobile refund difference or would be able extend expiry as my current Kogan mobile prepaid expires early Feb, understand this promo needs activate at end of Dec

    • Based on prior deals they could have another sale on Boxing Day which would have a longer date for activation

  • +2

Thanks, bought the 140Gb for $94 (Kogan new customer $5 off, CBA Yello spend at Kogan $10 rebate).

  • Has anyone else had any issues activating their recharge?

I keep getting to the step where it asks for a card authorisation for renewal after this 365 day plan expires (stupid requirement in itself), and I just keep getting a "unable to process this request" error message with every card I've tried using. Spent 30 minutes on hold with them just to be told they cant do anything and just try again later. This is driving me nuts!
