  • Does sim slutting involve credit checks when i sign up for a new deal each month?

    • +3

      Not for Prepaid service.

Think it like this: Prepaid is like using a debit card(your own cash) while postpaid is like using a credit card(borrowed money).

  • Offer valid for esim also?

    • From Optus site:

Black Friday Deal: $35 SIM for $12 offer ends 4/12/24, new services only. Excludes eSIM. Recharges revert to standard price.

    • Black Friday Deal: Discount applies to $35 SIM purchase only. Ongoing recharges revert to standard price. Discount for first recharge may not be available on eSIM unless you have the latest version of My Optus app. New services only. T&Cs apply

    Is anyone still using Optus?

    • +1

Nope. Absolutely no one. That's why they're no longer in business.

    • Danny ric might still be using Optus

  • Great deal to get an additional number, needed something for all my food subscriptions, perks etc.

  • +1

Thanks, need one more Optus number to unlock the prepaid phone.

    • could you explain what this is? thanks

  • Nice one. Let's see if TopCashback step up as we move towards the end of the month.

  • -1

Maybe 'FIRST ever sign up' via ID-check & hence money-back claims are @ risk-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/843556

  • Does anyone know what "new sign ups" mean? Per order, cashreward account, Optus account etc?

Also I don't see any terms to activate within a specific time

    • +1

Unofficial answer: new service = new sign up, sign ups means multiple services with first recharge, not limited to one; no activation required (as you lose $4) so that good for emergency use later.

      • @Neoika if I have 2 existing boost sims, and sign up a new Optus sim (x2, separate times) via this deal, and then port boost to Optus when activating sim after I get it, does this = “new sign up” do you think?

I know unofficial guess but just curious what you think ?

        • +2

New Optus service = new sign up

New means new number or existing number from other Telco.

  • +1

I purchased 2 which both tracked quickly. Third and fourth attempts I got an 'unexpected error' message on the final step.

  • +2

Do you need to activate this within a specific period of time?

    • +1

I am keen to know as well, my current plan still has a few months to go

    • +1

Doesn't seem to be mentioned like Boost/amaysim that required activation within 20-30 days.
I assume they don't care. will use it when I need that.

  • +2

For an extra $1 you can get $12 Cashback on $17 80GB 28-Day Prepaid.

    • $45 SP product tag hasn't been created on OZB, which shows how unpopular Optus is.

Delivery was annoying for this sim. Requires ID to be sighted. If you're not home, the sim will go to the post office. Unlike boost which usually the postie will leave in your mailbox.

    • Thanks for the heads up on that, I just tracked mine and found it says attempted delivery but didn't even leave a card or email. So bad.

    • Ah, that's annoying. I was just about to buy, cbf going to the post office and queuing up for a $4 SIM card. Thanks for the info.

  • How long does the number stay active if I stop the plan?
Heading overseas for half a year soon, looking for a cheap way to keep my number.
