Is this to test your ability to set a calendar reminder to turn it off the day before auto-recharge kicks in?

Title doesn’t match text. It’s NOT any plan. Long expiry and old plans (that didn’t already have it?) don’t have it (source: I was looking at long expiry the other day)

Buy it from Woolworths for $12 plus bonus 600 EDR pts by 15 Oct.

  • who uses optus anymore?

    • +3

No one at all. Didn't you hear they're shutting up shop next week?

Optus are generous with user data🤔

Unlimited data every weekend - Unlimited optus customer data everyday, LOL

    • Unlimited access to the API?

  • +1

I thought Optus already offered unlimited data …

  • -2

Unlimited data, but 1.5 Mbps speed—lol.

    • Where does it say that?

  • -2

Unlimited data limited only by reception being available

    • +4

Well of course. Optus is actually better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

Not bad. I was buying the $5 Unlimited data day packs on weekends and sharing my phone (unthrottled and unlimited) but with this it saves me $40 a month. Not bad. Is this the only prepaid telco doing unlimited 5G?

  • Optus could be $1 a month - but I would not even remotely consider it. Constantly asked for help regarding reception, data, voice quality, voicemail by family/acquaintances. I make it clear to them, leave Optus and your problems will be solved. They do and I no longer have to help them!

Consider the most recent test done on iPhone 15 Pro Max
    - 730 down with Telstra
    - 560 down with Vodafone
    - 110 down with Optus

    • Was the optus test done on prepaid or post paid? I've seen tests on wp where it's the opposite to what you posted.

  • Felix Mobile has $40/month unlimited data capped at 20Mbps. I'm on it now and it works perfectly for 1080p YouTube and very little latency on FPS games like COD mobile. 50% off for 3 months with code FELIX50. Highly recommended!

    • It works well even when used by 3 people simultaneously and has a decent upload speed.

The $45 80GB SIM will also be $17 at Woolworths starting 16th October.

$35 SK is for $12 with bonus 600 EDR pts by 15 Oct, the best deal ever in the supermarket.

      • 40GB only though for that deal

        • +2

These SKs get the current promotion even if you bought them months ago. In other words, you could get a poorer promotion upon activation as well.

Just tried put the sim card into my 5G modem, it didn't work, got error msg "SIM cards can only be used in the device type for which they were intended and can’t be swapped between different device types. Please only use the SIM card that came with a suitable device"

    • It may be the time to stop getting Optus SIMs for Internet purpose. Optus takes the 3G network shutdown as an opportunity to oversell its products and limit the use of its service.

      • It's not only Optus, the whole Australian 3G network will be shutdown. But, I'll stop using Optus anyway.

        • I am currently using Boost mobile plan SIM on Telstra network in a modem with no issue. If what you said is correct, it doesn't work with an Optus mobile SIM any more. It must to be an Optus data SIM in a modem now.

          • +2

@Neoika: Optus SIMs work in modems, just like Boost (3G shutdown comment is totally irrelevant).

It’s just whenever an unlimited data add-on is added (ie, Unlimited Data Day or Unlimited Data Weekends) data flow will be completely restricted. Limited to mobiles and tablets in the T&Cs.

  • Do you get the unlimited weekend data BEFORE you've recharged (in the first 28 days)? You'd have to leave auto recharge on.

  • Stack this with cashrewards $8 cashback, making it even better good value!
