I'm currently overseas and am using TravelKon esim for mobile data. Kogan physical Sim is turned of most of the time and if I need a text message from Visa for payment, I turned the Kogan Sim back on. It took a few minutes for texts to show up, but better than nothing. The last 5 days I just did this once. I wonder if I will ever get a separate bill to pay for roamings?
Also a good idea to use banks that have an authenticator app and don't rely on SMS OTPs.
Macquarie Bank debit card is my go to debit card for travel.
Hi yes I do have it and it does use it's own authenticator. Have already gone travel, and only bring Ubank and Wise - I'll use it Macquarie next time. I'll try to use more of Wise for the rest of my travel. It can verify with WhatsApp
Word of warning. I have Macquarie and on my recent o/s trip, despite selecting the Macquarie authenticator app as preferred method AND notifying of travel, transactions for macq kept wanting to send an SMS instead… Ended up using latitude 28deg, which successfully used their app authentication.
I've not called them yet to enquire if they can confirm why.

Do you normally get SMSes from Macquarie? I can't remember the last time I got an SMS from them. Nor the last time Dad got one from them (and he's abroad every second month).

you are on prepaid!. unless you yourself by the roaming pack (Starts from $10), there will be no bill to pay for roamings. Lucky your bank does not ask you to reply SMS. Then and only then you will be have buy the .. $10 one day roaming fee?
I'm on the 365 plan and currently in Indonesia. I waited for a few minutes and didn't receive any 2FA codes (pressed retry multiple times) apart from the initial welcome SMS from Kogan itself ;(
Roaming set to all network not just local network.
Update: it works today, I was able to receive SMS codes from airbnb and uber to my Kogan sim while in Bali. I don't know why it didn't work yesterday, must've been a glitch.
Turn off data roaming on the kogan sim and leave the kogan sim on.
