      • Do you mean porting to a different spare prepaid, or in and out of different Amaysim numbers?

        • +6

          Different network

      • Is there any free spare prepaid sims to port-out (in the Ozbargain way)? :D

        • +1

@PBG: and Lyca mobile allows you to call any Lyca number for free. Suites a family and friends

        • @PBG:
          Good to know this
So how many times you can order this free sim? cuz OzB way says:
Port Out, Port back in …. Port Out , Port back in …
          ;)

        • @PBG: sorry, can I just confirm this: I request a free sim, wait a few days until I get the new sim, then go back and get the pack from amaysim and wait a few more days until I get the new amaysim sim?

        • +9

          @victinini: 100% correct. I've done it myself.

There is an even quicker way (for a cost/credit of $2) if you can't wait the 2-3 days: Let's assume that you're signed up to Amaysim and your current number that you want to keep is 0411111111. Here are the steps:

          1) order the free Lyca sim, it takes 2-3 days to arrive in the mail.
          2) go to your local Coles/Woolworths/Big W etc and purchase an Amaysim $2 blank sim.
          3) when the Lyca sim arrives go to lycamobile.com.au and activate/register your new sim and ask to port your number 04111111 to the lyca sim (if you do this online then Lyca give you $5 credit on your account to make calls/texts with; if you do it via Lyca customer service then you don't get the free $5 Lyca credit).
          4) Lyca will take 3-4 hours to port your number across to them
          5) When you are ported to Lyca then immediately go to amaysim.com.au and order a new sim card using the deal coupon code. When signing up for the deal choose "I want to port my own number" and put in 0411111111. They will post a sim out to you as part of the process but you won't use the sim that arrives in the mail.
          6) Immediately start a live chat with Amaysim and tell the CSR that you have a $2 blank Amaysim sim that you want to use instead because you can't wait for the one in the post. They will start the porting process for the number 0411111111 to your $2 Amaysim sim card instead. Porting process begins immediately and takes anywhere between 30 seconds and 2 hours (well that's the range of times I have taken to go from Lyca > Amaysim). Ask the Amaysim CSR to credit your account for $2 to cover the cost of the bought sim.
          7) When the Amaysim sim card arrives in the post throw it in the bin, it is of no use (I've confirmed with Amaysim that you can't use it in the future like a blank $2 sim because it is attached to that order only)

          Hope this helps :)

        • Coles express free ATM voucher gets you a $2 Coles SIM for free

        • +1

@CandyMan: I think Coles runs on the Optus network, and porting between Optus MVNOs is not instant (usually 2-3 days).

        • @onlyme: how about aldi?

        • @compound:

Aldi runs on the Telstra network. I'm not sure of the porting times between Aldi to Amaysim, but I expect it to be faster than Coles -> Amaysim.

        • @PBG: Porting out from Lyca is free of charges?

        • +1

          @elfa: Yes

        • +1

          @PBG: thanks

      • it's weird, I can't port my amaysim number, tried with vodafone & optus, both don't work, any idea?

        • try lyca mobile..order a free sim port out of amaysim and port back in

      • +1

For those who have never done this how would you go about it? What about people like me who already have an existing account? Will I need to delete my account and start again?

      • +9

        You port your number in
        You port your number out
        You port your number in
And you shake it all about
        Post it on ozbargain
        and share it all around
        That's what it's all about

      • you could also earn $10 credit every time you open up new groupon account and refer your self.. save $$$$

      • Touch on, touch off, touch on and slap!

  • +19

Still enjoying the 3 months of unlimited 5gb for a total outlay of $10……

Every thing from here on in will seem over price.

    • Yeah I got onto that too, supposedly, except they cut it off after the first month.

      • +3

That happened to me too, it was caused from disabling Auto-Renew. The $10 deal needs Auto-Renew ON to work (just cancel it in the 3rd month)

        HOW TO FIX:

Login, > My Plan & Data > Change Plan > UNLIMITED 5GB (making sure you don't pick 5GB PLUS)** > Next > Next**

It doesn't charge you anything despite suggesting it will. And your additional months will start from today, not the original roll-over date.

I think you have 21 days to correct this using the above method or you'll lose it for good. I was at 18 days so lucky I got onto it.

        • +1

          Beauty, thanks.

    • bring back this deal or no deal :)

      • Cheers, but the hyperlink doesn't work…

        • +1

its a bug in the ozbargain source code. Pretty sure moocher or scotty is on to it

        • @easternculture:

I meant the hyperlink within the post, just before the expiry date that you added…

        • +1

          @KaptnKaos:

Thats what i was referring to . Bug is also present on the Cheapies NZ website and CheapCheapLa Singapore Website

    • Anyone know if they would enforce this? Got my 3 month plan to use from the last deal which i will activate this week….

  • -2

    Minimum is $20 so it isn't $10/month.
    ie. 1 month is $20, 2 months also $20.
so if someone only need 1 months maybe cheaper elsewhere…

    • It's "2 or 3 months" at "$10/month"…exactly as per title. Title doesn't say "1, 2 or 3 months at $10/month".

(Actually, if you want to correct something, it's actually "from $9.97/month", because one is $29.90 for three months!) :P

      • -4

        shouldnt included $10/month!

    • No $20 for 2 months.

  • I purchased four sim packs ($44.95 unlimited) from a Dick Smith that was closing down. But when I called up Amaysim they tell they can only be redeemed for new customers. Despite nothing on the packaging telling me they are limited to new customers. Are they allowed to sell sims inside supermarkets without alerting customers they are for new customers only?

    • +1

Yeah, just port out and port back in

  • Thanks OP! Just got 1 for the 1 GB unlimited for 3 months. Now in the amaysim dashboard I can't find the Transfer button to transfer my old number (as stated in their help page). Will have to contact them tomorrow as their online chat is offline now..

  • Yeah I purchased the 3 months of 5gig unlimited calls for $10 and it looks like they cut me off a couple of days ago after only one month. Been doing nightshift so I haven't been able to contact them yet. Just looked at the invoice and it clearly states "$10 for 3 months of unlimited 5gig". I began using the sim on the 6/12 and on the 6/1 I got an email saying:

    "Hey COR80,

Something went wrong and we were unable to process your recent transaction.

We ask you please try again or you use our LiveChat online to chat with us."

The only relevant transaction had already been done when I paid the $10 back in Nov to get the sim, so it seems like they had tried to help themselves to another $10 on 6/1 but there was no money in that account.

    This happen to anyone else?

    I've uploaded the invoice here:

I was cut off because I removed my CC billing. They need it to bill you $0 for the next month. Weird I know but a phone call sorted it out.

      • Thanks guys/gals got it sorted

    • +2

Just chat with them and they will fix it for you. I had similar issues and they were helpful

      • Thanks guys/gals got it sorted

  • They may refuse it if you prviously on their books
I was an amasym user 3 years back and they did not recognise me as a new customer for that ebay voucher offer.
So porting out and in may not work.

    • Well they recognized me. I even added a sim to my existing account and still got the $25 ebay voucher

  • Thanks EC, port out - port in time.

    • Have you actually tried this before? I thought that you still wouldn't be considered a new customer if you've ever been with Amaysim.

      • +1

I haven't, but EC has, that's good enough for me. :)

  • +1

Just confirmed with amaysim support and confirmed that it will only work with new customers so if you do port out & port in it will not work with this deal. Here is the chat history of the same.
"That won't work as the number will still be listed in our system. as previously having been with us. so the promotion won't work

    • +3

      That's what they tell you.

Trust me, heaps have tried and it works. No one has ever complained

      • going to check it in two months time, as I'm going to run out of my "$45" woolies vouchers…

  • +1

Perfect timing for me - I was just about to port 2 Vodafone numbers across to Amaysim today and this will save me heaps!

  • Slowly porting all friend/family numbers across.

    Cheap, simple, great inc products.

Optus has been behind Voda in my areas, same spots for 15+ years… So while its a joke to have call issues in 2016, it's better in every other way.

    VERY happy customers here!

OnePlusX mobile + Amaysim. Best bang for buck we've ever had! Saving ~40%/mth.

$988.83 over 2 years ($41.20/mth) for 2 GB offer, no fuss. Inclusions get better as time goes on, and not locked to original deal. And that's not even inc any port in/out deals!

  • damn I was hoping for another eBay voucher….

  • Can you use a $2 sim from Coles? Or do you have to order an online sim during signup?

    • Order online

      • Yup.
Got free ones, with free postage, last week. Used site to transfer number, live in <10min.

        1st class!

Didn't have nanos, and didn't trust my butchered micro-nano (contacts had to be cut too) to keep working.

    • I'm still awaiting delivery of my sim ordered on the 15th

  • Well I'm in this is better than that rubbish Dodo is giving me. $10/month and barely anything. Thank you E.C.
Do I need to activate the sim by certain date ? Will the data rollover? Can I stay with the same plan after 3months?

    • Must redeem voucher by 25/2
      SIM comes preactivated
      DATA doesn't roll over
You can stay on the plan after 3 Months but you would pay full price.

However by then, you never know, maybe amaysim will have another deal

      • My data did roll over.

        • Are you sure ?

          My data never rolls over

        • @easternculture:

That's what the account shows. So, yes I am sure. Maybe a fluke but right now I have about 7.6Gb left and have used 2.4Gb since activation. Am on 5GB plan.

  • +1

We need 15% off code for Groupon, whether includes this deal or not:)

  • it's weird, I can't port my amaysim number, tried with vodafone & optus, both don't work, any idea?

    • When you port, you Name, Number and DOB must match between the 2 carriers. If they don't match, porting is unsuccessful

  • I'm currently with Amaysim. Do I port out before redeeming the voucher? If yes, after porting out and redeeming the voucher, can I still use the other network sim until I receive the new Amaysim sim?

    • You basically port out to another network. Then port back in as a new customer using the groupon promo code

      • Thanks EC. Do I have to buy and wait for the new SIM sent from Amaysim, or can I activate one of the $2 Amaysim SIM using the groupon promo code?

        • You would have to wait for the SIM to be delivered from amaysim

          Cheers

  • Redeem online link does not work for me. Does anyone having the same issue?

  • Purchased 7 hours ago and 'still processing' on groupon. It's coming up as two purchases which isn't right either… Anyone have any ideas?

    • check under vouchers. Does the PDF voucher have a promo code

  • How many days do I need to port out for before porting back in? I assume they will ask for a final invoice once I port out? I'm on amaysim PAYG

    • Do it at the start of the week. Usually takes a few hrs.

If you do it on Friday , it will drag till Monday

      Cheers

  • +1

    Great one, easternculture.
Any idea whether it does by activate-by date? Read through the Groupon voucher. No mention of a activate-by date as there was for an earlier Lebara deal.
Thought of buying a couple - 3 months amaysim, port out, again 3 months amaysim.

  • correct me if i am wrong but so i buy the thing from groupon, get a sim. when i activate it i put in the reference code to get myself/referrer 10 dollars?

    • +1

Buy from Groupon. They send you a promo code. Then click on a referral link. Choose the plan corresponding to the one you bought on Groupon. Checkout. At last page of checkout, enter the Groupon promo code in the promotional code field. Apply the code. Checkout.

That's it. After you receive your sim from amaysim and make a call/sms, you will get $10 applied to your account automatically.

      CHeers

  • What a wonderful coincidence, I just got a "we miss you" $10 voucher from groupon for min spend of $39. I'm already on amaysim, but the wifey isn't :D

  • Can I use cashrewards with this code?

  • Need to wait for another month as I have to activate my telstra sim first I got from the earlier Coles deal to take advantage of the extra data offer. But i will be overseas at that time. Can I redeem while I'm overseas?

  • Why are the referral links linked to amaysim instead of groupon?

    • resolved. Thanks mods

  • Thanks OP

  • @easternculture : So that means if I will do port out to vodafone and port back in to amaysim this voucher will work, right??

    • yes. port put to voda (I would recommend telstra) and back into amaysim and use the promo code that groupon sent you at the last page of checkout in the promotional field tab

  • I will try and see how it goes….thanks
