    • ooh thanks! Good tip.

    • This doesn't seem to work with Catch Connect Carts. Maybe, it's just products on Catch.com.au.

I ported from Boost to this plan last month and since porting my wife has been unable to call me. I can call her fine and we and send and receive texts as well as call other numbers without any issues.

I've contacted the live chat multiple times and it is by far the worst live chat experience I have had. While waiting to be connected to an agent, every 3 minutes a request to confirm you are still there waiting is sent. If you don't respond with yes within a minute, you are disconnected from the chat. If you respond within the time, you are still there waiting until an agent is available

If I can't get this issue resolved in the next few days, I will just port out to another service provider and forget about Catch altogether

Mate they are no better or worse than optus direct. Welcome to the club. Only reason they still exist is to compete with telstra on price. No other reason for optus to exist otherwise

      • +5

Good, we don't want a bloody monopoly

Wife unable to call? I’m going to have to sign up, thanks for the endorsement.

      • Make sure you get this deal not her

      • +2

Hope you built a coozy dog house

For the wife to live in?…

    • My daughter is having exactly the same problem but with all numbers except it’s random. Sometimes it works and then it stops working.

      • Welcome to the optus experience

I have a similar issue previously with amaysim same Optus network. Amaysim is helpful in replying email, but take sometime as they need to get support from Optus. Resolve after a few days.

    • I had the same experience. Catch connect has really bad reception. Using it will make you become anti social, lol

    • +6

My mum had same issue. This is how I fixed it.

It's similar to blocking a number but there's also a setting called, send to voicemail. This setting you can text back and forth but when you call it won't ring and goes directly to voicemail.

On Android, click on your wifes number profile, then in call settings in her profile look for “send to voicemail”. Untick it.

When my mum ported it automatically activated that stupid fckn setting. Took a couple weeks to figure it out. Maybe that's not what's wrong in your situation but hopefully that works for you.

      • Thanks for your help! I've tried to find the settings you mentioned and I wasn't successful, could you provide me a little more guidance on where to find these settings?

        • +1

          What phone do you have?

If you're using the Google phone dialler app or the Google contacts app, just find the person by searching their name, clock on their profile picture/circle then scroll to the bottom to see the option labelled "Send to voicemail".

          • @Trishool: I have a Samsung galaxy s23

            • +1

@sssboi: Ok sorry don't know what the prices would be for a Samsung but am sure they'd have a similar option available somewhere in their contacts app. Alternatively you should be able to download Google's contact or phone dialler app and use it to select that option.

      • Instructions unclear, my wife's calls still gone through to my phone. :(

    • +2

Yes, it's a know issue (not acknowledge by them though)

Everytime you make a complain, the old tactics is to change the sim, then change the phone, then change the suburb, then change the state, thankfully haven't been asked to change the country.

Only state part is exaggerated, not falling for these deals again

    • if on iphone reset network settings and you will be all good, this is due to a temporary number being assigned during a port.

      • We have reset network settings on both phones and still unable for her to call me

    • I assume your wife is on a different network? Sounds like a common routing issue which is easy for them to fix.

      • Yeah, she is on Boost

        • +2

In that case, it'll impact all Boost customers attempting to call you.
Optus (Catch) needs to resend the routing table to all providers for your number, and it'll hit the Boosts network to update your number's status.
In essence, Boost doesn't recognise your number because the routing that was sent out when porting, failed to make it to their network, which happens from time to time.

  • eSim?

    • Not sure, but the page on Catch doesn't mention any eSim option, so I am guessing physical SIM only.

I got my wife this and so far it's been poor. Like it feels like a "you get what you pay for" kind of deal. Calls are fine. Data/reception was consistently below average.

    • Mate optus exist cause its cheap. Theres more poor than rich people in this world

      • Something can be cheap, but not also poor. This is one of those cases where it's both.

  • my voicemail was setup but didn't work for months. Called up and they rest it and it seems to be working, but very annoying.

    • We had a similar issue, but I'm not sure why it didn't work for you for months. We literally just called them and they fixed it instantly.

I would choose this Optus deal over Catch Connect any time

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/878377

  • 3 weeks and still no delivery, I requested a refund cuz that's unacceptable. At least the refund was relatively fast.

    • i ordered mine on monday, had a sim delivered on thursday (4days). others have longer delivery times probly aus post. vic to syd tho got activated straight away and you get an old optus number like 0403 XXX XXX

  • +4

Optus are pretty prominent in my area so I went with Catch and have had no issues.

  • Can you port to this if my dad is currently with Coles Mobile?

    • Yep, that's who I ported from, all done online; pretty simple.

      • Right, I might ask him and see what he says. Thanks

  • +1

Avoiding catch connect for all cost. Otherwise, it will make you become anti social 🤣. I got really bad experience with it but luckily, it was a $5 monthly sim. I quited after 1 month.

  • I've been with CC for almost 3 years (as has my wife) and we have not experienced any problems. A few weeks before renewal they send a message offering a 25% discount ($112.50) on renewal.

  • I have encountered a few issues with connection but I can live with them for now

  • +1

A few years back when I ported to CC for the first time, I had an issue too with making calls. It was such a hassle because I couldn't use the new sim to call them that I couldn't make calls. LOL. I am shocked they still have this problem.

  • Catch works just fine on an old iPhone.. No forwarding to voicemail on it and can’t say it’s a factor

  • What happens if I activate after 30 days of purchase?

  • My porting from boost to Catchconnect failed as well. My number was in limbo state for 10 days almost seemed like they lost my number.

  • +1

Better off going with Kogan, 140gb small plan for $109

  • What happens if you don't activate before 3/12, do you just get the promo that is on at that time or is it money down drain?

  • Might be a good second SIM card backup on the Optus network

  • +1

Getting the message "Sorry, this coupon code has expired."

    • Code finally worked. Ordered the sim and activated only to realise a week later that Catch doesn’t have 5G. Should have picked this earlier. Now stuck for a year with it :(

  • 3 Dec 2024 - Just tried "BONUS10" code on CatchConnect.com.au. It says "Invalid Promo Code".

    • Ah, I just saw the link is to Catch.com.au, not CatchConnect.com.au
