Tightarse your the man, nice price shit battery

    • Is the battery really that bad, even with the latest version of Android? I was hoping to buy this to replace my dying Nexus 5.

        • Thanks T.A! I'm a bit starstruck, have never had a reply from you before. Love your work, congrats on getting the job with OzBargain, etc, :-)

      • I'm exactly in the same boat. Sometimes battery lasts 7 hours on standby, sometimes the power button gets stuck and I can't get it out of the infinite loop!

Did you consider getting the Nexus 5X grey import? I'm currently stuck between the 2 since the price is almost the same.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-Google-Nexus-5X-16GB-4G-LT…

I don't think I can carry around anything bigger than 5", I would love to hear another opinion tho.

        • Ugh, mine started with the power button issue today. Then when I finally got it working I saw the Nexus 6P deal. It was meant to be…

      • I can second the comment about battery life on the Nexus 6 being rubbish. Have been using the Nexus 6 myself for the past 4 months. For the first month battery average was about 14 hours a day before it went flat, for the next month it dropped down to 13 hours. For the last 6 weeks, I get barely 12 hours before needing a top up. This is from regular use (25% phone calls, emails, SMS), 25% Web browsing (chrome, FB, instagram etc) , 25% games (boom beach, Star Wars, 25% standby). However, if U use video streaming via 4g or play graphic intensive games regularly, the battery will drain in half that time. Luckily it has rapid charging, so don't forget to carry your rapid charger to top up the battery when needed!

Has it got 6.0 yet? Doze should help battery life.

      • Love the Doze, young Jedi do you?

  • Damn. I got the S5 for $397 for my Ma. But this would have been better, even if the only difference was the lack of bloatware.

    • She wouldn't mind the size of this?

      • She might. She wanted bigger than her current phone… but that's an iPhone 4S. So the Nexus 6 might be overkill. Although she was asking if she could use the S5 in place of her iPad as well, which she probably can't, but with the Nexus 6…

    • I bought S5 for $322 after Amex cashback and HN discount coupon. I believe that it was a much better deal than this one.

      • Damn, and if I'd paid $75 less I'd agree!

Thanks nocure! Was hoping someone would mention it. Didn't really want to post this deal as a CR rep.

      • i placed order at 12.30pm. Still waiting for the confirmation email from cashrewards….

        • Hi there wyu. You may not be aware, but the terms on the CR website state that tracking emails can take up to 7 days to receive :)

Got mine second hand for $250. Battery is average, and camera is quite terrible in low light. Really great in all other fields. Spend the bit extra and get the 6p :)

  • Was about to pull the trigger but the lack of expandable memory is such a killer (likewise the S6). I travel a lot and really cant really on online storage :( Can anyone recommend a simialar priced/specced phone with expandable memory?

Other than the older Snapdragon 801 (still plenty fast, unless you're paying the most taxing games on it), the Xperia Z3 is a fantastic option for $525 new http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Unlocked-Sony-Xperia-Z3-D6653-4G-…

I would personally pick the HTC One M8 over that though. You lose a gig of RAM and a bunch of camera quality (which considering the Nexus 6, you probably don't care about, but gain a less fragile, but still stunning design and way better speakers, plus it's only $408 new here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HTC-ONE-M8-32GB-4G-LTE-GREY-100-U…

Let's explore the differences, shall we?

      • Great breakdown of information, ver appreciated! I've also heard a lot of great things about the HTC so that's cemented my choice. Thanks.

        • No problem, I love helping out with phones. The M8 is fantastic, hope you enjoy. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

      • its actually $348 with the coupon i love this phone so getting again!

        • The Nexus 6? $348 is a steal!

        • @deanylev:

          Sorry the one m8

        • @Draco: Holy crap that's cheap! The M8 is a gorgeous piece of hardware, and I think still holds up as an amazing phone, especially for that price.

        • @deanylev:

My thoughts exactly and you can flash to Google play edition and get Android 6.0 what's to loose

        • @Draco: Exactly. What a great phone. Tempted to grab one myself.

        • @Draco: HTC hasn't been successful in breaking Samsung/ Apple markets for years despite all high specs claims. I won't consider it with such a high regard.

        • @virhlpool: It's not their product that's at fault though, it's their marketing. The M8 is a beloved phone.

      • +2

Nexus 6 major panels issue. Is this just the pinking you are referring to? If so I thought this was basically only visible when screen light is set to very low levels (levels in fact so low that most other phones can't be set to)

Also you kinda disregard the processor and RAM in order to reach the conclusion that HTC M8 is the best choice. Any decent phone really wants to have minimum 3GB of RAM nowadays. It's OK saying that a taxing game is the only thing that will slow it down but a culmination of apps running can also easily eat up 2GB.

Personally I'd take the 6 over those phones you mentioned but that's just my opinion.

        • Not just the pinking, and the pinking occurs at low levels, but levels that hundreds of OLED and LCD phones alike can achieve these days. 1 or 2 nits is no longer a special feature - most all flagships can do it. The panel also has some colour issues, has very low brightness and a couple others associated with older generation Samsung OLED panels, like terrible burn-in.

The Snapdragon 805 is really not too different to the 801 for what I assume jimjams is going to do. Daily performance with the 801 @ 1080p and the 805 @ 1440p is going to be identical, while very resource taxing mobile games are going to be similar too - something I assume jimjams doesn't play.

With 3GB of RAM my Z2 can keep 8-12 apps ready to go, extremely overkill for most - including myself, a power user. With proper RAM management, something the Sense Android overlay is very good at, 2GB of RAM is plenty for the majority of people, leaving me baffled why phones are coming with 4GB of RAM, when all that's need is good RAM management. Android doesn't 'eat' RAM, so the phone wouldn't slow down, as a mobile OS, it'll just close background processes it deems unnecessary.

You know what? So would I! I'm a power user, Android tinkerer at heart. I love a big gorgeous OLED panel, loud bassy speakers, lots of ROM and modding support (something that Nexus' beat everything else in) and I'm the type of person who would sand down the Nexus 6's metal rim and re-anodize it and stick a Dbrand skin on the back. I love improving things myself, and can live with quirks. It's just the Nexus 6 is very much not for everyone, and I assume jimjams is not one of those types.

As luck would have it, I currently own all three phones and don't agree with some of your points.
        Here's my review…

        Screen - Tie - Nexus 6 and Xperia Z3.
I don't know what major issues the Nexus 6 screen has but I love mine. Colours are great and visually, it looks like a high quality panel. The resolution is excellent and I love the screen size.

The Xperia Z3 too has a very nice screen but I wouldn't say it is significantly better than the Nexus.

        Processor - Nexus 6
No surprise since it is the Snapdragon 805 but as mentioned, the 801 is still very capable and still exceeds the needs of most users.

        RAM - Tie - Nexus 6 and Xperia Z3.
Both has 3GB - very responsive performance.

        Rear Camera - Nexus 6.
This was a surprise for me. Some reviews say the Z3 has an excellent camera and using it to take pictures of the family swimming today, I was very disappointed about the quality of the picture taken. While the background looked great and sharp, faces looked slightly fuzzy and blurred.
I needed to take photos of an item to put on Ebay tonight and guess what phone I used - Nexus 6.
I'm sorry but the HTC M8 has a rubbish camera (rubbish "ultra pixel" bs they spin). No surprise they ditched the Ultra pixel camera in the M9.

Front Camera - No idea. Don't take selfies.

Battery life - Tie, all three.
All three have good battery life, no complaints. All seem very similar.

        Design - HTC M8.
Beautiful metal design and solidly constructed yet still light enough in the hand.
        Deanylev made these comments:
Metal Rim w/ Awful Slippery Plastic Back vs Full Metal Body w/ Glass Back Panel vs Full Metal Body
The Nexus and Z3 both have slippery backs but it's not a huge issue.
The Nexus is slightly chunky as it supports Wireless charging (not sure if the Z3 does, google it) but still looks great.
On a side note, the Z3 screen is a fingerprint magnet. I'm constantly wiping it. Didn't have this issue with the HTC or the Nexus.
The Z3 feels extremely light and for it's specs, that's impressive. I'm not so impressed with the glass back though which feels a bit flimsy. One thing Apple got right was ditching the glass back after the iPhone 4.

        Speakers - Nexus 6.
Nexus 6 balanced the loudest sound with reasonable quality. The Z3 may have slightly "sharper" sound but it wasn't loud enough for my liking. HTC similar concerns but quality was the worst of the three.

        User Interface - Nexus 6.
Ahh, pure, stock, unbloated Android with the latest 6.0 release. Still waiting for 6.0 on the Z3 and M8.
Z3 is filled with bloat ware and the M8 has the silly SenseUI which I don't like. Reminds me of MACS back in the 90s.

Xperia Z3 and HTC one M8 both have expandable memory which is a bit bonus.

It definitely comes down to the Z3 or the Nexus 6 being the best of the trio. The M8 feels old and very much like a dressed up M7. If the M9 was included in this, then it would be a close contender.

I'm still deciding which one I'll keep or sell but I like that the Z3 has PS4 remote play.

        • +1

I don't know what major issues the Nexus 6 screen has but I love mine. Colours are great and visually, it looks like a high quality panel. The resolution is excellent and I love the screen size.

Not going to argue with you. I've only played with a Nexus 6 in store for a minute or two, and the screen looked gorgeous. Those issues are all things I've heard or read, very hard to judge a panel from playing with it for a bit.

The Xperia Z3 too has a very nice screen but I wouldn't say it is significantly better than the Nexus.

Never said significantly better. Just picked the best with bold.

the 801 is still very capable and still exceeds the needs of most users.

The 805 @ 1440p and 801 @ 1080p have mostly identical performance. It's just that obviously the 805 will outperform it at least a bit, so I just picked it as it is the most logical choice.

Both has 3GB - very responsive performance.

Remember. It's not about responsiveness. It's about how many apps the phones can keep in memory. But yep, they both do a great job, so a tie.

I was very disappointed about the quality of the picture taken [with the Z3].
I needed to take photos of an item to put on Ebay tonight… and used - [the] Nexus 6.
I'm sorry but the HTC M8 has a rubbish camera (rubbish "ultra pixel" bs they spin). No surprise they ditched the Ultra pixel camera in the M9.

All personal opinion. My Z2 camera kicks ass, but I know the Z3 has some issues. I definitely don't know about fuzziness or blur, the sheer resolution of the camera makes that very unlikely. If it was in low light then sure, but otherwise doesn't seem too likely. If you watch a review (try LinusTechTips'), you'll see how horrendous the 6's camera is especially in low light, where it's outperformed by an iPhone 4 (yep, a 5 year old phone with a 5MP shooter).

Front Camera - No idea. Don't take selfies.

Neither, just watch too many reviews :3

Battery life - Tie, all three.
All three have good battery life, no complaints. All seem very similar.

Not true. I've seen many issues with the 6's battery, and the M8 is good, but the Z3 takes the cake. 48h of usage with 5h of screen on time is normal with it.

The Nexus and Z3 both have slippery backs but it's not a huge issue.

Yes, but why give the Nexus 6 points when it uses plastic. It's expected for glass to be slippery but it feels much more premium and expensive, while plastic can easily be made grippy.

HTC similar concerns but quality was the worst of the three.

Really? Every review I've heard has crowned the M8 the greatest. You own the phones, so not gonna argue.

Still waiting for 6.0 on the Z3 and M8.
Z3 is filled with bloat ware and the M8 has the silly SenseUI which I don't like.

You can get 6.0 on the Z3 right now. It's great, a stock, responsive build of 6.0 with Sony's tweaks and camera app built in.

I'm still deciding which one I'll keep or sell but I like that the Z3 has PS4 remote play.

Remote play can be installed on any phone with this ported APK http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/ps4-remot…

        • @deanylev:

"Those issues are all things I've heard or read, very hard to judge a panel from playing with it for a bit."

I stopped reading there. Shouldn't be be dissing a phone becuase of something you've "read" somewhere.

        • @zeggie: Are you kidding me? So you just shouldn't trust reviews? So the reputable places like AnandTech, and the hundreds of posts I've seen on Reddit about it are all fake? Yeah, sure.

        • @deanylev:

Generally if you are going to copy someone else's point of view or opinion you should reference it (cause a quick scan of the anandtech review doesnt mention display issues) - especially if you've only played with the phone "for a bit" and claim there are MAJOR issues (in capitals and bold text) in a public forum.

        • +1

@zeggie: So… I should reference every article, video, reddit post, and friend? I'm sorry I sure don't remember that being a necessity here.

The Nexus 6 does have MAJOR issues that I've seen with my own eyes in professionally done videos like Erica Griffin's. All I was trying to do was help the guy choose a phone, he could care less about my sources.

        • @deanylev:

I've owned 2 and used countless others, with my own eyes in real life (not youtube), and I haven't encountered the issue that person claims they had.

I'm surprised you're shocked that you were asked to back up your claim of MAJOR issues, when as far as I can see 3 people have posted saying they own or use the phone (not youtube) and have no experience with what you claim.

        • +1

@zeggie: Well golly, I guess countless tech blogs, Redditors, YouTubers and friends were lying, and I should rather take the word of a couple Ozbargainers.

Just because you didn't notice them, doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm not shocked to back up my claims, it's just the person I was helping out didn't care enough, and judging by the 13 upvotes, neither did anyone else.

        • @deanylev:

          Thanks for replying.

As of today, 6.0 is not available on my local Aus stock Z3. Maybe on international models?

At the end of the day, the Z3 had outdated specs when it was released. It is so close to the Z2 and I can't understand how Sony could call it an all new model.
The processor is outdated, the S5 packed the same processor when it was released Q1 2014 as the Z3 which was released Q4 2014.

HTCs are very concerning, I've had a HTC One m7 before that had to be sent back to have serious faults fixed under warranty. Same applies to my M8. I've owned a lot of phones and I've never had to send back anything but HTC.

        • @Alister: Yeah it's a beta that Sony provides, but very smooth and updated constantly.

That's very true. It should have used the Snapdragon 805.

And true, every person I know with an HTC phone has had to send it back for repairs at one point. Very concerning.

      • Im not sure how much different between HTC M8 and M8S.

I own M8S, trust me, M8S is a piece of junk. The only good thing on this junk is the front speaker. The camera never takes good quality picture.

        • Different cameras and SoCs between M8 and M8S.

      • The seller notes for the linked HTC One M8 seem unusual. "We guarantee this phone to be 100% genuine and has never been used by an end consumer. All our phones leave our fulfillment centre in pristine and as new condition with absolutely no sign of wear. This is as new and pristine condition but not brand new unit."

  • +1

    Great phone.

    Vanilla android
    Massive screen
    Fast CPU
    Great speakers

Never had an issue with the battery life to be honest since MM

    • +1

MM is magic for battery life.

    • Can I ask what kind of battery life you're getting? Also, what do you think of the camera?

      • Camera seems fine to me? If the photo needs to be a keeper I use my DSLR…

Battery life lasts all day at work, 2 hrs on the train.

Stock Android is soooo much better than any other companies version. No bloat and FAST.

        • +1

Thanks for the reply. Sick of waiting for Samsung firmware updates

        • @metro1288:

Same :) That's why I jumped ship from Note phones (as much as I like them) to a Nexus

  • +1

Heart jumped a beat; thought it was White Nexus 6P

  • Although superseded by a newer model, this still is a great phone.

At almost 6 inches, this is for phablets lovers like me.

  • Damnnnn i bought lg g4 this noon .. should have wait .. 😢😢😢😢

  • Holy..thought it was the 6P

  • anyone find a good iphone 6 deal? aussie stock & brand new

  • +2

Would love this phone, but the size is just ridiculous for average size hand..

  • don't worry about cigars. Smoking is bad regardless.

    nice deal though!

  • Great deal!
What would this place be without the tightarse!

  • Would you guys recommend this phone over the 5X (not the 6P - not interested in this one) for a "first-time" Android user (currently using an iPhone and a Telstra Buzz phone for Google Play purchases)?

    • 5X has a better camera and is much easier to handle with one hand.

  • How does this compare with the Galaxy S5?

    • +1

Kicks the S5's ass, in all but a removable battery, expandable storage, and water resistance. But it has a bigger battery, more storage, and basic splash resistance.

      • But then, at $322 S5 is a greater deal than Nexus 6 at this price.

        • Yeah virhlpool, I got mine for $322 but I like idea of a large phablet running stock android.

      • Thanks deany for the input..

  • Was about to get the G4 but now not so sure. I like the G4's size, camera, expandable memory and replaceable battery but the nexus has stock android, and a better price.

  • +1

is mobileciti a safe place to shop?

    • +5

      Hi roland

just letting you know we are in business since 1999, we had Mobileciti ebay store since 2003 over 80k positive feedback, had physical store in Parramatta NSW, also you are covered by ebay/paypal buyer protection.

    • +2

I'd say yes based on my experience. The shop in Parra. It has been around for as long as I can remember.

    • +2

Hugely safe from my experience. Bought a fair few from them (including a 6P)

    • Fair question… I bought my N6 from them online and picked up in store.

  • It's a great phone with great battery, my GSAM stats since Oct/15 is showing about 1d11hours standby, 5h23m SOT per charge. That's with GPS/bluetooth off, wifi on, Telstra 4G, one hour call per day, MM 6.0 (Chroma). Hope this helps.

    • Wow that's great battery life. 6.0 does wonders.

  • What happens if the screen has a dead pixel? Do you have to deal with the store or does Google handle the exchange?

    • +1

You can deal Motorola Warranty or contact our store/Online team.

  • I put an order through earlier in the day when the phone was at $554.80. Any chance I could get the difference refunded? Already sent a messages on eBay but rep seems more active here.

  • Great price but the battery is a dog

  • TA is awesome!!

  • This thing is HUUUUUGE.

Bigger than the Galaxy Note 3. ANd heavier. Without multitasking software like Samsung's Multi Window, nor any S Pen-like features.

  • -1

    I wouldn't buy of these guys again, these two claims are crap;

    100% Australian Stock
    Local Motorola Warranty

    • +2

      Really? You know that because…

      • because the last time they had a nexus 5 deal, i purchased it, couldnt get it fixed in australia without making 50 calls, and it showed up on the motorola warranty system as stock from NZ.

        • +1

          Hi eXtremist

are you refer to LG Nexus 5? Just letting you know AU/NZ are similar spec, I remember with your case we had bit issue with IMEI tracking sorry about this, however we did help you resolved thought local LG service center. Let us know if you still have any outstanding issue.

    • +2

I had an issue with an older Motorola phone that I bought from them. Still under warranty took it back to the shop. They had Motorola check it out and ended up giving a new phone to me. So the claims that you claim are crap are a big negative from me. I would buy again based on this experience (and I did).

    • +1

I'm 3 phones down from these guys. Good prices, good service and good support. Would recommend

  • Any good deals on the Nexus 9?

  • this or 6P?

    • +1

If you can afford 6P, go 6P. 6P is way better.

  • Checked this phone at JB, TOO BIG and heavy in my jeans pocket, ended up LG G3 $339 local stock from wireless1 deal someone posted here, to my surprise, it is a bundle packed with a made in korea view window case for free! couldn't be bother with hardly normal S5, too painful to find stock now.

  • I bought a Nexus 6p when they first came out, had it for a few weeks and then sold it and got the Nexus 6.
Motorola honestly builds a better phone than Huawei.
Look up nexus 6p bend test on youtube - cheap Huawei build quality.

I never liked Motorola until a bought a Moto G 2nd gen as temporary phone. It was $250 new at the time and I was wowed about the build quality and the specs of the device considering the price.

I've also had a Note 5 and that too wiped the floor with the 6p.
