bought it $12 plus $9 shipment this morning :'(

    • What have you done that for?

    • +1

You can return it and buy this one.

    • +2

      ya dun goofed

    • I did the same thing :(
Plus I got the aceme bag from HVN.
So if I got this instead I would have save $9 shipping cost as well :(

Yeah just a heads up for people thinking of putting a DSLR onto this…Please at lease tie some sort of weight to it before you let go of the whole structure (which I do not suggest you do) lol.

  • Does anyone know how tall this thing is when fully folded? Might be good for traveling if small enough.

    • "Only 40cm in height at minimum length, the tripod can be extended to a huge 125cm for optimal shooting conditions."

Generally that means 40cm all folded. Width/diameter isn't listed, but I guess it'd be around 60mm.

  • It's a bit weird. If you click on the link in the picture, it actually lists the price as $31.63.
However if you add to cart from the link you've listed, you can add the tripod to your cart for $9 as listed.

Let's just hope it's not a price error

    • +1

Yeah, this happened recently with a completely different item on their hot deals page https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/197085#comment-2803376 and online chat support told me to click add to cart direct from there so I did and bought it at the lower price no problem. I'm guess it's a common issue with their website product listings.

  • I must admit, that I have an Inca i3150 bought from Officeworks for like $15-$20 (can't remember exactly) a couple of years ago and it's flimsy but for occasional use with a handycam seems to be OK. I am interested in another cheap trip and wonder if this slightly different model would be any better/different.

  • $9! Tripod for hiking expeditions sorted!

    Would this hold a 1dx?

    • +8

      Would this hold a 1dx?

Sure. It's a tripod, all cameras will fit on it.

A $9 tripod would be perfect accessory for that >$10,000 camera.

      • Thanks, I'll buy one right away!

    • How about a D4 :P

I think the legs will start bending or the lock mechanism will start slipping with those weights.

However I have a rx100 and it should suffice for that.

Does anyone know if its got a QR Plate or not? (quick release plate)

    • +4

No. I just went to the store and checked this deal. The camera mount and plate is fixed on the tripod. I didn't buy it, since the quality of the tripod did not look very solid.

      • Thanks for that:-)

      • The box claims it does have a QR plate according to the photo http://imgur.com/gallery/n79q3NX from this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/198065#comment-2819385

        • The only thing I can see is a spring loaded button on top to aid in releasing it faster as you unscrew! But I may have missed something

        • @justhooked: Please confirm if/when you can. I think it is a pretty useful feature and somewhat poor to be missing, thanks.

        • @samlor: just taken it apart and it is just one piece
So not quick release as above the spring loaded button must aid in some way as you unscrew the camera ,other may want to comment

        • +1

@samlor @justhooked I just got one and it has a Quick release plate, not quick release shoe. Therefore it isn't a simple lever to remove the shoe. If you fully unscrew the screw which adjusts the plate to put it on a 90 degree angle, you can slide off the plate. Hope this helps.

        • @mittymittmatt: Err… thanks for responding but I'm not quite understanding it. My Inca i3150 has a small "plate" that quickly locks onto/releases from the tripod with a lever http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/77509/31190/535705.jpg and it has a standard screw to mount onto the bottom of a camera. Does this tripod offer effectively the same feature or not? Sorry to be thick. I might just go and try to see one for myself, thanks.

I went to inspect for myself and unlike the i3150 and despite what it claims on the box, this model definitely has no quick release plate for detaching the camera without unscrewing however the box middle photo correctly depicts how the plate can be rotated up to 90° for portrait orientation and that conveniently exposes the locking screw knob for easy access. Good enough for me at that bargain price. I couldn't help myself and bought one from Wiley Park where there were approx. 9 left afterwards around 14:00 today. It is as flimsy as my i3150 but seemed a bit better/stiffer likely from being new/unused whereas my i3250 has gotten a bit loose even with only light occasional use over a couple of years, though not drastic/inconvenient. Still works OK for my needs.

  • Thanks - already have a pretty compact Manfrotto, but have grabbed one of these for pickup anyway - could be good for mounting flashes on etc also.

  • Would this hold a mirrorless? i.e. an omd em5 with a olympus prime lens?

    • The Olympus mirrorless whilst much more compact still weighs a bit. I'd suggest spending a little more than $9 for a 1k+ combo. This might be good for p&s cameras

      • Thanks!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Would the plate flip to 90 degrees for portrait shots?

  • -1

can this hold my 1K iphone?

    • +1

Yes, but likely to be blown away outside. 1K bye bye. Great ain't it?

  • +4

Just got it price-matched at Domayne.
Lightweight, a bit flimsy, not exactly precision engineered but for $9 should hold up smaller cameras just fine.
Took a photo of the side of the box with all the info on it.

    • Please confirm if it has a QR plate

      • +1

        No QR plate.

Thanks just pick my order up just what I needed for my camping trip to Africa in a few weeks only .55kgs as I can only take 20kgs for 4 weeks

  • +1

I went specifically to get this, the price tag were 29.95$ and there was no other signs. I double checked with HarveyNorman.com and it was 9$ ! it is really light weight (0.55 KG) with a bag, the maximum height is 125cm and it can take up to 2.5 kg of load.

  • +1

There's a stack of them in the Adelaide City Cross Harvey Norman!

    • the Proam PA3150 is just a rebadge of the Inca i3150 hehe

  • Got one today. This is a very flimsy tripod. I would only use light digital cameras and mirrorless bodies on this. Forget putting anything heavier on it like a DSLR.

    • Or use it as a flash mount for off-camera flash positioning :)

  • I wouldnt have this one, looks too flimsy. I did buy a cheap Inca tripod though, Officeworks some 3 years ago. Looks like Inca is still making it http://www.inca.net.au/tripods.html, its the i351 model. Works a treat for my Pentax DSLRs. I have a lightweight Manfrotto for small cameras.
