  • Got it for 59 from catch last year, works great

Was about to pull the trigger but it says that charging cable not included?

  • +5

    Are these USB C PD?

    • +4

Yes. All Apple USB-C chargers support USB-PD.

  • $149 on Apple.com.au - Why so cheap :/

    • +10

      why sell expensive

    • +2

Apple are nuts even for apple standards to charge $149 for a charger lol!

Even $69 is a ripoff for an apple charger

These should be $30-40 max imo

      • +5

To be fair that is a 140 watt charger not a 60 watt one. ~$60 is fair.

      • Lenovo sells a 140W GAN charger (Legion) in China for around $40. However it's USA plug only, and prices on aliexpress are quite high currently.

        • +3

Which isn't relevant as it doesn't fit our power points, doesn't even include GST and is higher priced than this deal on aliexpress.

          • +2

@OzzyBrak: Also I'd be wary of quality of Lenovo vs Apple. Apple packs a lot of filters and circuitry in their chargers.

  • Cheap way to get 69
    Ups

    • +1

Yes but won’t be any faster than a 30W charger.

      • Why so?

        • +6

Every device has a max charge rate they can accept.
Maximum charge wattage for iphone 16 pro is 30W wired and 25W wireless. A bit less for iphone 16 and 15 i believe.

  • Are these GaN Chargers

    • +11

Yes it's GaN. Also extremely well made, arguably over engineered.
Shame it's only one port & no PPS.

      • +1

        Thanks for the insight

    • -5

No, It's not GaN. Apple 70W charger is GaN, but not 140W ones. But on the other hand, it's very efficient, about 88%~90% compare to GaN's around 95%.
But bear in mind, lots of GaN charger are not well designed, they draw almost 1W during stand by, compare to apple's 0.03w to 0.1w. So overall, 3rd party's GaN charger might not be better.

      • +2

Are you sure A2452 is not GaN?
Here a teardown that shows photos of the GaN FETs, though admittedly I haven't opened one myself.

thank for provide the link, seems I got wrong info. but this 140w charger is so heavy and huge compare to other gan one and it become really warm when charging. made me believe that article claims its still silicone based.

          • @Cool7: From that article, it was mentioned there are two GaNFETs in the 140W charger and well known brand components are used.

28V 5A max, you want the charger to have proper safety measures. Some of the cheap 3rd party chargers use insulation tapes inside a charger (which is just a cheap way out to cut cost on proper safety design).

If Apple would go through all that trouble to design and make the charger that way, are those compact chargers really safe?

This and many other sites claim it is GaN

    • Whats the benefit of that?

Will work to charge my laptop / Steam deck / iPad etc?

  • +4

One thing I like about Apple chargers is the replaceable plug, which is pretty handy.

Or you can use one of these:

  • wow got mine for $88 a few weeks ago. I got the MBP 16 M1 and I kinda need this exact one for fast charge

  • +3

These work to power a Nintendo Switch dock, unlike the old 87W Apple USB-C charger, for anyone wondering.

  • -1

What was the usual price for this? How much is it reduced?

  • +1

can someone please recommend a cable for me to buy that suits my MacBook Pro (USB-C) - im not sure I want to spend $75 just for a USBC cable. :D lol XD

    • The $75 cable is for USB C to MagSafe 3, for fast charging the big MacBook.
