Zyron Powerpod 140W Gan Travel Charger with Figure-8 and Travel Adapters - $108.75 Delivered @ Zyron Tech

WELCOME25

I've been looking for a Gan travel charger for upcoming travel and have been peeping the latest deals with nothing quite hitting the spot.

My requirements are:

  • Has PD 3.1 and high enough wattage for future proofing
  • Has a figure 8 output for use with a cable to use with travel adapter or has inbuilt travel adapters
  • Has at least one USB-A port
  • Relatively lightweight - I was looking at the Ugreen 100W but it came in at over 500grams

I'm also planning to pick up this Male-to-Female figure 8 cable from Ikea that I saw on another post to extend the travel adapters.

The Zyron 140W appears to tick all those boxes but at $129 (through Amazon), it seemed a little steep, so I messaged the rep if there was any wiggle room.

Lo and behold I get a message back and check their site to see a 15% discount on the unit. This can be stacked with the Welcome25 discount code for $108.75 w/ free standard delivery

I think I'd prefer if this deal was extended to Amazon due to the ease of dealing with returns through their platform, so rep if you're reading this, please consider it!

Anyway, leaving it to OzB to decide if it's a deal or not.

I'm not affiliated with the vendor, I'm just looking for sick a Gan charger, so I'm also open to other suggestions.

When I was looking for a travel charger a few years back, having an extension cord was very important as some powerpoints won't hold the heavy brick plugged in. My pick at the time was SlimQ 100W although they do have other options. You can choose to use it with or without extension cord.

    • I have come across these and the extension is ideal for the scenario you've stated, but the cable itself seems proprietary so you would have to replace with the vendor.

I'd much prefer the universal figure 8 output, I've already got a handful of various lengths lying around

    • Would be good to see some more reviews on these. Very good discount atm

Help me out, are Zyron just Heymix quality with an Australian owner?

    • Apparently, they're from the same factory (in Vietnam?) that produces Anker/Belkin using the same GaN tech, so I'm guessing this confers some semblance of quality associated with those brands.

I thought heymix was made in California

        • My take is that if it's listed on AliExpress it's made in China. I see that Zyron isn't listed on AliExpress so I'm assuming it's not coming from China.

          • @PotsyMcGoon: Zyron could just be a branding or rebrand. But anyway, I have a Zyron charger and it works great. Hasn't turned off any ports so far when fast charging multiple ports. Unlike NOVOO.

            • @marshmall0w2: What do we think of Novoo I grabbed the 100w one and am worried I've bought a small firelighter.

              • @GenerallyClumsy: I mean yeah it really heats up but it hasn't started burning or anything. Mine just keeps shutting down the ports so there's that at least. Though it's shutting down even when I'm using a single port that I'm charging normally (9W) and not even fast charging.

      • Nice. What about ugreen?

        • Ugreen is excellent. It's like DJI vs GoPro, where GoPro here is Anker. You'd rather go for GoPro but DJI is good enough.

        • Ugreen is quite established and has a good reputation. I feel like they're due for an update in their current lineup but probably won't see it for a while so that's why this charger caught my eye

      • Interesting their deskpod and the 108w Belkin are super similar.

Yeah pretty sure they're Anker/Belkin adjacent - I have one of their older 100W PowerPod chargers and it's been fantastic the last 18 months often driving Mac or ROG Ally fully for days at a time, though on the downside their older models used that built in US style plug that then has a proprietary adapter for extensions.

Strongly considering getting one of these partly because of the figure 8 plug adapter and beefier specs.

I have this one from these guys and used for 2 weeks travel with teenagers and worked flawlessly.

  • I'm also planning to pick up this Male-to-Female figure 8 cable(ikea.com) from Ikea that I saw on another post to extend the travel adapters.

I have this item. The adaptors won't fit on a standard IEC extension cable. You can obviously get different IEC cables for each plug type and use the IEC adaptor that comes with this

    • meaning that the ikea cable wont work with the travel adapters included in the kit?

      • Nope, i checked by trying to plug the travel plugs into the IEC adaptor included and it won't fit

  • Zyron Tech Powerpod 67W, 3-Port USB-C GAN Travel Charger with AU/EU/UK Adapters, Case & 2m USB Cable $39.99 Delivered @ Zyron
I bought this 👆 eary last year and man it works flawlessly without any issues in charging apple devices, samsung devices and Xiaomi mobile. All charged without any issues.
Hence Zyron products are worth buying for!

  • I have one of these and it can't charge my laptop at 65W speeds, my laptop states it needs 20V 3.25A but when I plug my laptop into USB C1, Windows complains saying its only slow charging. Anyone else have the same issue?

    • I would plug it into C2/C3 as that actually supports 20V/3.25A

      Output USB-C1

      5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, 20V5A, 28V5A (140W Max) PPS: 5V-21V/5A (100W Max)

      Output USB-C2/C3

      5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, 20V/3.25A (65W Max) PPS: 5V-21V/3.25A (65W Max)

      • Yes I've actually tried all the USB-C ports. Same thing.

        • Does it say the same thing if that is the only thing plugged in? Don't have other stuff plugged into the charger even if not connected on the other end.

What laptop is it? Some devices have proprietary charging protocol specific to the brand like OPPO VOOC Flash Charge

          • @CodeXD: Yes, nothing else is plugged into the charger. I'm certain it is not the USB C cable either because i used the same cable that is used with the laptop charger that works.

          • @CodeXD: Oh sorry forgot to mention its a Dell Latitude 9520 so nothing crazy.
