1st Gen Motorola Moto E Now $114 from The Good Guys

180

Motorola has dropped the price on the 1st Gen Motorola Moto E to $114 (was $159).

Review: http://ausdroid.net/2014/08/05/motorola-moto-e-review/

The phone is dropping in price due to the imminent launch of the 2nd Gen Moto E which will have a larger screen, faster processor, 4G LTE, Front Facing camera and more storage. That said, $114 is still a bargain price for the Moto E.

  • beat me by 4 minutes! Decent phone!

  • Is it the dual SIM version?

    • Oops - maybe it is. My bad

    • Yes - from description in link:
"Dual SIM support gives you the option to use the network that makes sense for who you're calling and texting, or combine your work and personal devices into one."

  • Combine with click and collect "$10 Store Credit when you spend $70 & Pick Up." and it comes down to $104 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/185556).

    • …if you were going buy something else soon, as the store credit has a short expiry.

      • Sorry just to clarify, could I use the $10 credit in the same transaction for this phone ?

  • Serious question.
How does this compare to Galaxy S3 (4G) and tHL w8?

    • I think G S3 is more powerful and different class. Entry(2014) vs Mid Level (2012)
G S3 4G has 2Gb of ram, 13Mpixel Camera and removable battery + SD card

      • Hmm yea thought it would be a bit of a stretch. 8MP camera btw.
Maybe the $150 Elephone is closer in class haha.

  • No Flash and the battery is non removable..2nd generation is available

  • I took a look, but it would appear to be a downgrade from the $99 (in 2013!) Huawei G526, sadly.
    Review says camera is fixed-focus.

Looks good, though I'm holding out for deal on the 2nd gen model (or a BB Q10) when it becomes available in stores. The moto e 1st gen model has some pretty good features going for it, though it is quite old, which in todays smartphone market can make a huge difference.

  • This will most likely be $10 less in a few days without the need to muck around with a store credit.

Was looking to combine with a microwave I was looking at and suprise suprise prices has gone up in line with the credit.

      A mobile is a microwave…
Oh I get it - you want to be able to make a call while heating up last night's lasagna.
Even better - they put an LCD and camera on the front door and install Skype!

      • +1

I'll save my $198 and just place the phone onto of the lasagna and put it on speaker phone.

Should heat it, in about 10 mins

Garbage phones like this, being considered a bargain really shows how much we get ripped off in Australia. Import a phone from China and never look back.

    • -5

      Move to China then.

    • -2

Noname yumcha mobile phone from China. ok then.

      • +1

Ignorance at it's most funny. Xiaomi has become the third largest mobile phone manufacture globally. Yes, ahead of Motorola. So if anything, Motorola is the "noname" company.

Just because no one in your bubble has one doesn't make them low quality.

The Moto E has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor & will get the Lollipop 5.1 upgrade (or you can use alternative ROMs).

Lower end chinese phones use MediaTek processors & have less or no upgrade options.

          @monkymind:
Xiaomi also now almost exclusively use Qualcomm. Quad-cores too, not shitty dual-cores like this Motorola dinosaur has. Xiaomi release update every single Friday of the year (except Chinese New Year).

          The ignorance continues.

        • @PainToad:
What part of "lower end" chinese phones did you not understand?

You obviously don't own or intend to buy a Moto E - so why the pouty posts?

        • @monkymind:
Xiaomi Redmi 2 is "lower end". You're point is?

        • @PainToad:
OK - I'll buy one & try it out. Just point me to a major Australian retailer who has them @ $114.

My point is: This is a discussion on the 1st Gen Motorola Moto E Now $114 from The Good Guys post.

If you have a Xiaomi Bargain to share - you should post it in the New Deals.

"shows how much we get ripped off in Australia"
From the very start I made it clear Xiaomi wasn't available here. If you want local stock, sure go for this. If you want the best device for the price, look else where.

        • Is there any Xiaomi phones at this price point?

    • You might want to reconsider buying those cheap mobile phones directly from China.

"It’s not just irons that are being used as tiny trojan horses, either. Dashboard cameras, cell phones, and tea kettles have also been found inconspicuously outfitted with the malicious chips. They’re reportedly capable of latching on to any computer within 200 meters that’s attached to an unsecured WiFi network… like the ones in many hotels and coffee shops."

      • No. That's all I'm going to say to a post like that. No.

I have one of these. The dual SIM was very handy overseas. Globalgig for data and local Sim for calls.
Camera is OK but cannot zoom in to an area by pinching.

  • Was thinking of getting this phone for my elderly dad but am concerned screen and keyboard would be too small hence difficult to use, hopefully some dent EOFYS deals will be done on the 2nd gen.

  • Huawei Y550 is similar price, has 4G LTE, 4.5" screen, quad core, and front camera. The Moto E has slightly higher screen res, and water resistance. Depends on what you value more I guess.
