  • Are there any good deals for the HP stream 8? Thanks

  • Any deals on smart phones? A decent upgrade from a Nexus 4 (so pls dont suggest Moto G), probably not a Samsung too (not too fond of touchwiz)

    • /sub

    • G3, Moto X, Nexus 6.

      • What are these phones selling at, at the moment?

Just looked at Moto X, and appliances online had it at nearly $700, but a review on the Moto X website, said something about Australian buyers can get it for $549 outright…

  • Can anyone help me to find a good deal for 2TB portable hard drive?

      does it matter? global warranty

plus if youre stupid enough to buy an overpriced phone, why are you worried about cost

      • +1

It's for work so I get the GST back… Calling someone stupid for wanting to buy a certain phone is a bit rude don't you think?

        • its not rude if its the truth

      • does it matter? global warranty

iPhones do not have global warranty. They might fix it for you if the tech on that day decides they like you though.

        • +1

sounds like apple customers are not only dumb enough to buy their products

but also dont even know what theyre buying

        • @furythree: lol.

        • @furythree:

You're the one that asserted they had global warranty when they didn't - I knew that all along. I develop iOS apps for a living and my main phone is a Nexus but in the end I don't really need to justify myself to you anyway. I asked a question and your answer wasn't helpful in any sense so what was the point in you responding?

Been watching and thinking about the Dell "New XPS 13" - which I just saw was $200 cheaper on ebay then the dell site … now with 20% off that I would be sold.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-13-5th-Gen-Intel-Core-i7…

Only thing is I'd like the model higher then this with the intel wifi … do you guys know if they will swap or upgrade orders from ebay? OR if on the day I use on-line chat will they match the discount?

    • That top model from Dell that you;re chasing doesn't show as being in stock - http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-13-9343-laptop/pd?ref=PD_OC

Prices are the same on Dell site as their eBay store.

      • If you scroll down the page and look they have a banner with "Easter sale" and it shows a $2099 price - which I assume must be the 'mid' model discounted as other wise it would be the lower end one with a price increase? Somehow I saw this price first as I scrolled down quickly to assess if this is the model I was after.

Note: I wasn't sure how much to trust those 'in stock' stickers as they also only badge the end model as 'touch' even thoguh the top three models have the same touch screen.

        • The prices on eBay are exactly the same as the Dell website.

Im not sure about upgrading to the very top model (Intel wifi). Don't know whether they will allow that, but it's always good to have a crack.

About 2 weeks ago they increased the prices on all their models. The current $2299 model, used to be $2,099. And then a few days ago they added this new top model with the Intel Wifi and 5600U CPU. Even in the product description it still says $2099 which is wrong, so that may be the case with the banner as well.

The best time to buy it was probably at the beginning of the month. Where you could get the current $2299 model for approx ~1750

If you want the very top model, which really is hardly an upgrade from the other i7 (5500U). Then try to get the 20% off in chat. Otherwise use this code on Dell's website for 16% off : 7FKDL1Z6Z3GHS3
If you use chat, they give in to 17%.

          Good luck!

        • @Giteau: It was also very convenient that maybe 3 days ago, the had the $2299 model on eBay for $2099 still, AND it had a free tablet included! That would have been a deal and a half. :(

        • @Giteau: Thanks for the notes - I was not aware the prices on these had gone up and the noted price would be an older one.
I tried on-line chat, they don't offer any component change on these, you can't get it without windows and if I was buying it right now the best he could offer was 15% off… I then said about the ebay deal and he said - go for it… he can't match 20% off.

        • @Elijha:

They increased their price because they now offer next business day on site warranty vs depot which will be useful for most businesses. However, I'm returning my XPS 13 (i7 w/ qHD) due to horrible fan noise on the i7 models (google it), get the i5 with 1080p screen and you will not be disappointed. 6-7 hours (realistic) vs 10-11 hours on the 1080p

You should also be able to get 16% off online chat, although with the 20% it'll be still $100-200 more than their refurbished ones that show up in the outlet.

    • If i was buying, i'd get the cheaper model for $1800 -> $1440.

FHD on Windows 8.1 laptops is at this point a negative rather than a positive.
      Also i7 is not needed.

EDIT: Nvm that model doesn't even have touch. What an oversight from Dell…

  • Shame EB games dosnt have games on their Ebay store page :(

Do you think officeworks would accept a paypal and an ebay invoice as proof of price? Thinking of buying a phone click and collect, and taking the receipts to officeworks and asking them to beat it by 5%. Then if they can, buy the same product from them and returning the original.

    • Good luck

    • Ebay and auction sites are excluded.

Why on earth would you do this? To save maybe $5 after you do all the running around and that's if the seller lets you return the phone. What if they don't and you get stuck with two phones and have to sell one on ebay and you'll end up losing a hell of a lot more.

    • +1

You may be an ozbargainer but that is a shitty thing to do to a retailer. Hope you get stuck with two phones.

  • Any iPhone?

    • Kogan and EB Games have iPhones.

  • I think this makes the cheapest currently available GTX 970 - Gainward 3354 $487 - $97.4(20%) = $389.60 delivered, if they don't jack up the price during the sale. It would also be available for $391.50 for in-store pickup from MSY with their 10% off sale.

Any opinions on whether that is a good value taking into account the AUD exhange rate and that GTX 970 could be had for similar pricing on release late last year so it appears not to have dropped in price yet and what other products might be on the horizon?

i added the tv to cart this morning and when i went to look at the price, the price is the same, but there is a note stating the seller has revised the listing. cant see what is different. are there exclusions (the tv i want, says it is 20% off clearance)

      • They are already jacking up the prices. i was monitoring price of one fridge

Provide the link or it didn't happen. Of course you would have checked to see if it was on special for a limit time and looked at their website as well wouldn't you?

        • +4

There's enough individuals on here reporting price changes and providing links to show that increases are happening, why are you so fixated on every single person providing screenshots & links.

        • +1

There's enough individuals on here reporting price changes and providing links to show that increases are happening, why are you so fixated on every single person providing screenshots & links.

Because every single example that I have seen posted so far has been incorrect. People seem unable or unwilling to use the revision link on the ebay list, unable or unwilling to use google cache to check for limited time promotions and unable or unwilling to use common sense. In fact much of what has been posted has been deliberately misleading and malicious.

I can see it in your soul

My vision's cloudy, I'm filled with doubt
My soul is burning, a flame I can't put out
          And time is slippin' away

  • This may seem like a silly question but can someone please clarify something for me.

If I purchase up to 10 items from the same retailer it will add the items to my "cart" I then pay for those items as a total amount of all items. That total number is then discounted 20% when I go to Pay via PayPal?

This would give the potential to purchase 30 items instead of 3? Provided the total discount amount does not exceed $500 at a time?

    • +2

yes you get discounts for adding things in the cart. Essentially you get $500 discount from ebay and you can click checkout 3 times in total

      • Thanks Heaps!

Are these Dell products covered by Australian consumer warranty?

They're sold by Dell AUSTRALIA so what do you think?

I just purchased a Lenovo notebook from Lenovo Australia and it shipped direct from China, no-one would assume it only has a warranty in China.

    Air Cond in TGG for Fujitsu 3.5Kw is $997 - 20% EBAY -150 Cash Back = $647.60.
    Awesome.

    • +1

I am looking at buying this for my tenant and claim it as a tax deduction.

      • Invoice will probably show the full price too. Mine did when I bought a gopro with one of these ebay codes from TGG.

Whether you claim the expense at the full price when you do your tax however is up to you…

(note: the gopro wasn't a tax deduction, no dodgy tax deductions here)

        • Buy laptop, get discount, claim full price of laptop at TRS!

    • Capped at $500???

      • +1

Its the discount (you gotta spend like $2500)

        • Ah, i see. Thanks!

  • +1

I am just being paranoid. Is there any chance the following will happen:

    1. Let say on 29 Mar at 12 noon I buy something.
    2. I have to confirm "commit to buy"
    3. Then when paying, I enter the code to get 20% discount
    4. Oops the code doesn't work.

How does it work out then? Can I cancel the order? Will I get black listed or negative comment due to that?

    • EDIT: What PBG said.

    • +9

In step 2 instead of clicking "Buy It Now" use the "Add to cart" button . It's a relatively new feature they implemented.

In the cart checkout process you can add and validate a coupon code before committing to buy. Also, you can add multiple eBay items to your cart (from different sellers) and checkout with the coupon code which will apply to all orders in the cart.

      • +1

Thanks, Just about to ask the same thing.

      • +1

Thanks. Glad you tell me :)

      • ~This wont secure a cheaper price if they put it up before the promo though?

        • +1

No it won't. If prices move then so do those in your cart :(

        • @PBG: But it secures stock?

        • @yacman: I've no idea. Wouldn't expect so.

  • +1

Good news is that ebgames have started putting up games and accessories on their ebay page! Perfect timing.

    • Good prices for Grand Theft Auto V if the prices stay the same. No PC though :(

XB1 and PS4 are a good price @ DSE as well.

  • Something I had my eye on at Teds Cameras just went up by $10 overnight, expect mark-ups.

    • +2

I was keeping an eye on Ted's as well & can confirm that they have increased every item's price by $10.

      • +2

Yes. The price on their website stay the same but on ebay store increase by $10

    • same.

    • Kogan has upped their lenses too :(

  • Kogan have inflated their apple imac prices. The 27 inch me088x/a retails for 2884 on kogan and rrp at apple is 2449. The cheaper 27 inch is 2588 on kogan and rrp is 2199 at apple.
If the retailers are just going to inflate prices for these sales then the whole exercise is a waste of time. Also i am sure apple will be disappointed to see their product being sold at inflated prices above the rrp.

  • +3

Prices at Teds just went up, seriously, how do they get away with it? Can we report them? Having a sale after putting your prices up is so dodgy, I'm so sick of it.

    • +1

I'm pretty sure ebay knows whats going on. Ebay's throwing away money to increase traffic on their site, it's a shame that said money is going towards sellers instead of consumers. Plus they'd get more of that money back in paypal fees as the prices increase.

    • This town deserves a better class of criminal.

      • r u serious?

        • Relax, I know him IRL, it's a stupid joke.
