          @gore:
Ahh my fault I thought he was doing a Batman (Joker) quote.. and I screwed it up should have been "why so serious" .. but I guess that makes less sense as a response.

    • +3

I have reported Ted's to ebay. I urge everyone of us report these sneaky retailers.
If ebay gets enough complains may be they will do something.
      Do it QUICKLY, before Sunday

    • You could email ACCC (or get on their FB site), if they get enough complaints on a particular matter then they'll look into the legality of what's happening. That said, it's very likely something is written into the EULA (or terms & conditions) to absolve sellers (& other 3rd parties) of any liability over possible price changes.

      • best you can do is vote with your wallet and buy elsewhere

        • Agreed mate, totally agree.

  • +3

Everyone, if you know the retailers who increase their prices on ebay store, please report them. I did.
If ebay gets enough complains, maybe they will do something.
    Do it QUICKLY, before Sunday.

    • +5

they dont give a shit, the same thing happened the last 20% sale was on, there are still some savings to be had, i bought some hard drives 10% cheaper then anything i can find elsewhere.

    • +3

Yeah good luck reporting them to eBay.

eBay loves these big stores and is gonna stick up for them regardless.

This sale is just a marketing ploy to make people believe they are getting a good deal.

There might be some group deals which may be great offers though!

      • +1

From what I have read this may contravene the ACCC guidelines in relation to "Two Price comparison advertising". I would encourage all to read up and make their own judgment and report to the ACCC if they feel it is wrong. It may also be useful to take screenshots of current pricing and "adjusted pricing" if/when it occurs.

    • Most people don't care. And even we report nothing is gonna change eBay has done this many times and ignore complaints and it's the same old same like voting, makes no difference.

  • +1

PCCaseGear doesn't even bother updating their description

    -> On sale! $20 off, normally $599.

Listed as $623 (Gigabyte Brix i7)

    • Nah pccasegears ebay store just always is like $20-40 more expensive, even fans have a $10 markup

The free shipping is a good offset though

      • +2

I believe renlireb was referring to their bad math.

        • They take the info straight from their own web site so certain items (like clearance items) will show an "old" price. It's redundant on Ebay as they offer free shipping but have to raise their prices to cover it. It's not bad math, simply they don't intent to spend hours attempting to remove the "normal" price on clearance items, not to mention they've only just started this Ebay site.

        • +1

@Ebany: "Bad Math" being rhetoric. I think we all know what happened. They don't want to "waste" time editing descriptions and simply prefer their listings to look a little… umm, what's the word? lol

Can this double point combined together?

    • Yes, choose that or 2% Cash Rewards offer.

      • "Or" or "And"? :/ been reading a lot of "And" style comments. Maybe just shoot through the Qantas, then go back and load in from the cashrewards

        • can't hurt

  • Was going to check price of postage from TGG, and realised they now had pickup from store available! It's almost sad that we won't have the usual will-they / won't-they dance, followed by the outrage from the people who "lost" the bargain when they had to pay postage :P

Personally, I will try and buy a mobile phone, pending on how the price changes etc. Fingers crossed. Despite all the complaints about price hikes, there's always bargains to be had at these store wide ebay sales.

  • OK, so going to be on the look out for a tablet <10" and a new washing machine. Any tips on the washing machine front? Not even sure whether to get a top or front loader.

    • Bosch.

  • If I hit Buy it now today and pay on Sunday with the code, will it work? To secure the price.

    • +2

      no

    • -2

it worked for me actually. Last time eBay had a whole of eBay 20% off. Bought a bed frame friday, paid for it sunday with the code at checkout and voila! Good luck!

  • I don't suppose anyone found a good router for a good price? Seems that msy/umart is still cheaper (or at least the same) after the discount, but maybe I missed some good contenders.

  • Just to clarify, only the retailers listed are participating, not any seller listing under the 'Tech' category, correct?

    • Correct.

  • +2

    Is there anything worth getting?

    • +2

I guess it all depends on whether you've been looking for something in particular, or whether you were just waiting on a better price on an item. If yes, and item(s) end(s) up being cheaper after premiums applied and 20% (or 22%) taken off than elsewhere, then yes, it'll be worth getting. If no, in all likelihood, there is nothing worth getting. But it's 20% off, so you know you want to get something at least! lol

If you were looking for a high-end graphics card, large capacity SSD, or a NAS drive, for example, this definitely is the weekend to get it. PCCG prices are the lowest on certain items I have seen in a while (or rather, will be on Sunday). 6TB RED comes down to $317.46 by my calculations. Definitely time to stock up. My current cart value ready to check out: $2,479.14. Estimated savings over buying elsewhere: ~$350. Definitely a good deal to me!

Edit: Done and dusted! :D Thank You ebay! Looks like I'm $1,983.31 poorer already. People, it's a targeted offer, but check your ebay to see whether you got the 24h early access code. I have to admit, I do feel somewhat sorry for the regular folks. There's only 9 6TB REDs left, hurry!

      • I wanted some 6TB Red's! I only just bought a couple a few weeks ago but need a couple more.

Plus I need a PSU, Mobo, Ram, CPU, and GPU to fill my Corsair T380.

        • Seems like I'm the only one who's bought 6TB Reds so far, there are still 9 left. No early access for you? I need a few more things too. Well, tomorrow now.

        • @daerka: Need a mini itx and PSU 1st. Cosair design this beautiful case but make the PSU slot slightly to small to take their own product ….. wtf.

Also, re-installing Win7 on my main system. Don't want to touch the ebay site until I have my full level of protection back :)

      • 6TB Reds have been OzBargained :(

  • Any specific deal on Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router ?

  • Nikon d610 will be $1337.54 (inc 2% cashreward and $100 cashback) from good guys tomorrow. Cheap for local stock I believe.

  • IMPORTANT announcement: ebay has sent out targeted early access codes. It allows for one of your claims to be made 24 hours ahead of the official start. Just used mine. Check your ebay to see whether you've been targeted! Good luck! :)

IMPORTANT Edit: Don't get overexcited and completely forget about cashrewards!

    • +1

yeah i forgot, but im still happy with the price i payed.

  • +1

I'm surprised at Dell. I honestly didn't think they'd inflate their prices for this sale. I was wrong.

I had a U2913WM 29" ultra wide monitor bookmarked. Last night it was $549. This morning, $659.

Voting with my wallet. The greedy bastards aren't getting my money.

Have any of the listed retailers NOT put their prices up?

    • +1

A few hard drives and RAM kits at PC Case Gear haven't changed prices since the sale was first announced. Should it stay that way it will be cheaper than anything on staticice

      • PCCG won't change their prices.

        • This is their first rodeo. They'll wise up next time, so better snag some deals

        • They may not have changed their prices, but their eBay prices are hella expensive in t he first place.

        • @O15: It's to cover the free freight.

That said, I am after a new i7, PSU, memory, and GPU. I bought a Mobo I had my eye on but all the rest are only listed on their web site, not Ebay.

    • I have been looking at getting the XPS 15 and they have actually dropped the price on it by 20% so today I'll be taking another 20% off it. Maybe it was not intentional.

  • +2

PC case gear prices are still the same

Maybe because the employees are still in bed…

    hhahhaaa

    • They may not be aware (yet) that the VIP early access codes have been mailed out this morning.

      • yeah i just got mine 10 mins ago. Just browsing ebay now =)

        • +1

If you're in the market for a NUC, check out Kogan. Coming from Hong Kong, but their prices are hard to beat, particularly for the i5. $404.16 is an awesome price. Don't get hung up on that "last one" business, I believe Kogan has plenty stock, but they seem to be selling them one at a time. Probably to keep people from buying 4 or 5 at a time.

        • @daerka: Kogan's price structure might be easy on the eye but wait till you have a warranty issue, absolute nightmare.

        • @Ebany: Don't worry, the chances of encountering warranty issues have been factored into my decision. I honestly don't expect any, it's a risk, but I'm willing to take it. Don't trust Kogan, trust the product they're selling (I mean, in case you can trust the product).

        • @daerka: Very true.

        • @daerka: +1
CVIP24H code worked for me- even though I never saw the email.

Just bought the 'last' 5th gen i5 NUC from kogan, an hour later there is another 'last one' available- same listing.
          Great price though.

          Kogan: $518.16 -20% = $414.52 - 2% cashback = ~$405AU.
          PCCG: $581 -20% = $464.80 - 2% cashback = ~$455AU

'Normal' Computer shop price for i5 NUC 5th gen is ~$530 - $560. Import from Amazon works out to ~$520AU - $530AU

        • @pernie_a: Nice!

And yes, I doubt you'll be getting your hands on a Broadwell i5 NUC for that cheap any time soon after this is over.

      • I've been an eBay member for years and years, but I didn't get any code :( no idea how to become a VIP, do you have to buy/sell for a certain amount?

        • Not sure. I got one, my wife didn't. I was definitely more active in recent months.

        • Just try and use it.
I didnt get the email, but CVIP24H works for me.

        • @pernie_a: if it doesn't work, wouldn't I miss out on the discount and be committed to pay full price?

        • @amelyn:
No. Instead of committing to buy, simply add to cart and see if the code works. If it doesn't you can just remove the item from the cart.

        • @IceCreamBandit: yeah, didn't work. :( something about typing in the correct code…

        • @daerka: You'd think they would send it out to those who are not active enough to get them back to eBay.

Perhaps you where active without purchase, so get you to start spending again?

        • @plague69: I bought quite a bit of stuff, sold even more. Wouldn't surprise me if they just randomly selected a certain (small enough) percentage.

  • This crappy DGTEC tablet nice self-updating digital photo frame is $19, and ends up being about $20 after shipping and discount:

    • +1

My gosh, somebody bought 12 of them. Hope they're good at hacking.

  • Kogan's feedback comments from buyers on ebay is shocking!

    • +1

You should check out Dick's rating!

  • +2

Just received an email from ebay with a code allowing access to the 20% off starting today (e.g 24 hours prior to the sale starting)

    CVIP24H

not sure if its that targeted based on how generic it is

    • Just tried it but it's linked to another eBay account.

    • yay i bought what i wanted… bugger me if i know how i got VIP status for the early access code, but im not complaining

      • +1

        glad it could help…
might beat a few price increases before tomorrow ;)

    • +1

Got the same code, but you need to have received the email and/or for it to show up in your ebay. Non-VIPs can't use it. No idea what makes a VIP, maybe they've just sent it to a random selection? I'm not complaining, though. :)

    • +1

      CVIP24H

not sure if its that targeted based on how generic it is

How many times does it need to say your exclusive for you to realise it's for selected people only and if there was any doubt the large black text directly under the offer graphic states "*Max discount $500. Selected categories only. 1 transaction per person. The voucher is just for you and cannot be shared. Ends 07:59 (AEST) 29 March 15. Item cost only; excludes postage. See full T&Cs."

      • +2

yet many received it and it is no way a generic code…
if it saves someone a few bucks today so they don't need to wait till tomorrow, its win win..costs $0 to try it today for those with purchases in mind

and wouldn't be the first time a 'exclusive' discount code was sent to people that worked for more than just the target audience..

saved some $ for 'heathwithnoteeth' on his purchase,

        • +1

I never received the email with the early offer from eBay - I tried using the CVIP24H code but I get the following error message…

          • The redemption code can't be used for your purchase
          • This redemption code is linked to another eBay account

Oh well, only 1 more sleep :)

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-PS4-Dualshock-4-Wireless-Con…

~$61 shipped for a PS4 controller from Dick Smith, not too shabby.

    • except the 10% off that is currently applied will end tonight, to be replaced by the 20% deal so you have to take the 20% off the full price plus postage, not the already 10% off price.
Works out to be $67.94 shipped, assuming the full price doesn't change between now and then

  • Might get an Audioengine 2+ Speaker
$319 in ebay (20% tomorrow) to $255.2 free shipping
    $299 in PCCG + Shipping

  • -1

The retailers don't make enough on their normal days, need to be greedy jacking up prices to make big bucks on eBay donations

It might only work if it gets to A Current Affair to expose these dodgy practice.

I suggest not to buy anything so they learn their lesson.

They can go broke like I give a crap. Don't get conned to these sales is meaningless

    • -1

      I got conned gooood. :)

  • Got the early access code this morning and got an iPhone 6 16gb for $752 from Kogan delivered for a friend… I was waiting for them to up the price but it didn't happen… GREAT!

    • +1

Holy sh*t! Is that actually considered a bargain when shopping for Apple gear ………. or was it gold cause I did hear something about gold iPhones.

      • Mehhh cbf replying to your comment.
Over the whole 'how overpriced are iPhones' comments.

        • -2

          :D

      • Yeah the note 4 for ~$630 is looking like an absolute steal in comparison.

The iPhone's used to be a great choice from a performance point of view, but really in recent times Android phones are as fast or even faster now. Test's like this for instance show how the gap has decreased between the two platforms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV2X51kAVfc

        • +1

Steve Job's could certainly market a product, even if he was an absolute f'wit.

My favourite was always the "antenna issue" with the iPhone4 …… Apple said people were just holding it wrong. Or the camera issue with the iPhone 5, classic. Last great Apple was the Mac 2SE.

    • contemplating the 64gb IP6 for $844 now…with the 20% off code. But it's grey import stock - does it matter?

      • Only if you care about warranty. If you have issues with phone, expect to be weeks without a phone.

    • Whats the 'early access code' ?

  • Inspire 1: $500 off Kogan!
    Nexus 6 32GB $695.22 Kogan!

    • +6

I would go for Nexus 6 16Gb for $694 at the Good Guys for better warranty.

      • Note 4 for 630 even better deal

  • +1

How are people getting early access codes? Are they for people that haven't purchased recently?

    • How are people getting early access codes? Are they for people that haven't purchased recently?

Ask ebay because they are the only ones that can answer this question.

  • +1

Bought a fridge this morning, $500 genuine savings, cheapest i saw them is for $2400 on a good guy boxing day sale with 15% off, got it got $2100 from appliances online, gonna delivered in monday. Very happy was looking this fridge over an year now.

    • Good deal, I'll be having a look at fridges as well. Need a new dryer too.

  • Now time to look for a tv and some lenses. What else ? 2 more transactions left

  • crucial m550 512gb ssd comes down to around $217 delivered from kogan if i'm correct? that's pretty good right?

    • Cheapest on staticice is $279 (actually, no, it's Kogan at $257), excluding shipping, so yes, it's pretty good. I got the MX200 M.2 500GB for $248, which is a really good price as well.
