Have Kogan also marked up their prices during these sales previously? I actually have something I want but I've seen why people are so worried… :(

    • +4

Kogan has. Most of these retailers have hiked up their prices in the past during these sales.

    • +5

Kogan has been pretty good previously. They did 11in macbooks for $500, 13in for $750, iphone 5c for $400 and iphone 5s for $550 in previous deals.

      • Oh alright that sounds positive! I will be trying my luck then! Thanks

  • +1

While it'll generally be around normal price for most items, there'll be a couple of good deals popping up during the sale.

  • +12

Don't up vote the deal until that day I suggest. Nothing personal OP but like all others said be prepared for price hike.

  • +2

Dick Smith jacking their prices again, i bet.

    • +9

1 of the few times you can make a comment on here about Dick jacking things and not cop a ban!

      • -1

Why is it a ban worthy post? Excuse my newbiness.

  • +2

Ok the goodguys are running a tech sale at the moment and that ends on saturday so probably dont take much notice of the tech prices there at the moment.

  • +2

Hmm WD tv streaming for $139 at Officeworks ebay store. Less 20% makes it $111.40 delivered.
Good for those that want Netflix (and the rest of features I love from these lil black boxes).

Oh, and anywhere else is around $140/150 lately!

    Officeworks not included, I fail…

    • +14

That's when you just delete everything and say "thanks OP" :).

      • +1

Shhh! It was late at night and I was using it like a mental reminder to check the other stores :P

  • +5

Going to hold off on the + until we see how many many tricks these guys try on again

  • +2

    Such negative vibes….

  • Anyone know the redemption code?

    • I think it is this one:
      CTECH20

      • +23

PRICESUP25%ONTHE28TH doesn't seem to be active

  • +2

Whats the reason for the price hikes? I though ebay covers the cost of the 20% so retailers would still receive the full price. So shouldn't they be raking in the money from all the purchases instead of hiking the price up and not having any sales?

    • +6

      Greed mostly.

      • +2

but they would make more sales and get profit if they left the price as it is. people aren't even buying the items with the price hike are they?

        • +12

Some silly people will be blinded by the idea of a sale.

        • +2

They jack up the prices whilst still remaining a "bargain". So a $100 item should have been discounted to $80 but they'll jack up the price to $110 making the discounted price $88. Still a "bargain" but it is not as great as what it should be.

        • +4

@keyman: But then you look around and you see that someone else is selling that item for $70 and you realise you'd getting screwed.

        • +2

@Martijn: like all the upvoters that don't know the prices yet?

        • +1
    • Recently Ebay has been hurting in sales, one of the reasons they tried to shutdown Facebook sell/swap/trade groups. They put mark-ups on everything, just look at Paypal increases over the years.

  • +9

Meh. Looks like you'll be able to get something close to normal price now. For instance, DCS-933L is $129.95 on the DSE store, less 20% makes it still a crapload more that officeworks: $88.
Another fine example is Canon SX520 from Teds, $369. It can be found for around $250-280 elsewhere.

Most things can be found cheaper elsewhere: These aren't deals.

    • +6

Obviously not everything is going to be a deal, some will be over priced to begin with while some will put up their prices before the sale, but usually out of all those stores and all those items there very likely will be SOME actual bargains. Just need to wait and see.

  • Woohoo I needed a new fridge/freezer, was gonna just order one this morning, then voila ozbargain saves the day! Now to wait a couple of days…

    • +6

As per the above mentioned comment from jv: check prices now to see if you're getting a deal. Also, check other retailers. These folks aren't the cheapest to begin with.

      • I've not seen dell put up there prices before a sale, I bought an I3 laptop off Dell in one of the ebay sales for $300.

  • Hi guys - I'm after a fridge from Appliances Online… how do I tell if it's listed under the category "Home Appliances (#20710)" ?!

    • +3

Select the product, hover over the breadcrumbs in the top to see if that's the category, i think.

      • At the top of the relevant product page it shows…

Listed in category: Home Appliances>Refrigerators, Freezers>Refrigerators

        I trust that's #20710 :)

  • +10

Still waiting for another 20% off the whole Ebay store cod. That was an Ozbargain dream.

    • +1

I'm still affected by such an astonishing deal, I have made a grammatical error. *code

    • What, when did that happen?, bugger, missed it.

      • +1

last year. happened twice I believe. The first time it happened people were buying gift cards for 20% off and then cashing them in at full price to make a profit. But they don't allow that anymore

  • +2

If someone can list out which eBay retailer is doing this dodgy practice price hike before this sale, name and shame them.

    • +11

Probably a shorter list on who isn't doing the hike.

  • I am looking for canon speedlite 430ex ii, DWI is selling for $295 from there website, but in Ebay Store they selling for $304.

    • You can get them secondhand for around 200-250 on Gumtree or ebay

    • Got a 2nd hand one for $60 bucks on gumtree.

      • +1

        Wtf $60?

        • yeah, the guy got a higher model and advertised it for $100 neg. said yes to my offer instantly. Don't think he even cared about the money. lol

  • +2

What's the point of having sales if everyone just puts their prices up. I was hoping to get a cheap laptop and galaxy s5 for a good price but I just had a look around and it seems everyone has put their prices up. Kogan are wanting $590 for the s5, where its 509 on their website. Futu online had some laptops for $295, now they're $320

    • +3

It's to give the appearance that you're getting a good deal when you're really getting screwed over. You know, like the Liberal government.

  • Well, if the price doesn't get jacked up, might be able to grab a Z3 Compact tablet (4G) for $560.

  • +5

…& massive price hike day— eBbay's Big Donation to Retailers Day.

  • What is the possibility of scoring an ipad at 20% off. I have been tracking an auction that ends today, should I wait ?

    • -1

      should I wait

Ask me tomorrow and I'll have your answer. In the meantime the seer is out to lunch…….

Maybe next week, someone can tell you which horse is going to win the 5th at Flemington

      • +2

apparently the comedian is also out to lunch too…..

        • +2

          True.

I wonder those who voted it down did so because they have no sense of humour or they really think anyone can give the right advice.

          Oh well :)

        • +1

@RockyRaccoon: well it is true that no one can really know anything till the sale starts….

        • +2

@Forfiet: exactlly, and as the question is about a deal which ends today and we have no idea at what price the bidding will stop at, its not going to help SpaceNinja.

Looks like none of them, likewise can give SN any advice as to buy or not… :)

But it's OzB you win some and then sometimes not :)

      • +2

Have to agree with you there RockyRaccon.

As for SpaceNinja, you have to decide for yourself what you want to do. No one here is going to take the responsibility of giving you the wrong advice.

  • It seems popular items are likely to have price hikes from certain retailers based on previous deals. You can usually find some deals within the categories. In Sept/Oct last year I was able to get a Breville Food Processor for $200 pick up at my local Good Guys. Cheapest elsewhere has always been $240.

  • Galaxy note 4 is $788 right now at good guys. 20% off would be a steal. That's if they don't jack it up. It's meant to be that price till April 12

    • I bet it will sold out in 2 minutes from most stores.

      • Anything with heavy discounts which doesn't have an Apple label attached will be sold out in minutes.

        • Not sure what you mean

    • +1

Did they just jacked up their prices? I bought the Belkin Micro USB bundle for $15 from them just a few days ago..

    • This is one of the few occasions where buying from Telstra will be a good deal, as there are MANY fake Belkin products on eBay - particularly the car chargers.

  • Anyone had luck buying from eBay then using trs? If I do a pick up from good guys this could work in time for our trip and get us n new tablets.

What's the current recommendation for something smaller than a 10 inch tablet.

    • +1

If u buy from gg u get sent a proper tax invoice. I think it's same from all the major retailers with eBay presence

      • Yes. Must request tax invoice stating GST included. 95% of the time, you will need to request it after purchase. All stores with an ABN must provide on upon request

  • +1

Damn wish the Galaxy S6 was out!

  • +2

just a suggestion. Maybe OP has time to put some of the peoples price monitoring on the description then we check it out on the actual sale day.

    Something like.

Samsung note 4 32 GB. Kogan. $804. Sale date price $

We can see who the dodgy retailers are.

  • +1

Good deals on Sennheiser headphones from PC Case Gear as long as they don't raise the prices:
    PC 363D for $246.40
    HD 598 for $212.80

I have the PC 363D and they're great quality.
If you need the adapter to make it usable as a PS4 headset you're better off buying from their B&M store for $15.

  • I see Grand Theft Auto V for PC on Dick Smith's website has made a mysterious disappearance and is 'out of stock' as of about 4am this morning (but is readily available for pre order on their website). Was gonna be about the best price in Aus with the 20% off.

    • alot of items disappeared from the stores.
mainly items they can sell for full price easily

      • +1

The logic escapes me though, they ARE still getting full price are they not? It's just eBay foots the 20% difference. It's a bloody joke.

        • -3

You think eBay foots the whole 20%? Really?

        • -1

@plague69: Do you know the answer for sure or are you guessing?

        • -3

@eug: Do you? lol. Not allowed to make an educated guess?

I know for sure every month eBay reps have a meeting with 'large store' reps. The meeting I was told about was one of the previous 15% off's

        • @plague69:

Do you? lol. Not allowed to make an educated guess?

Your post is worded in an arrogant, condescending manner, like you were 100% confident that it was fact. That is why I asked - do you know for sure, or are you just guessing?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case. But if you don't know for sure, it's still just a guess.

        • @eug: Thats what I said. It's a guess… lol, chillax

        • @plague69:

          This statement is a guess?

You think eBay foots the whole 20%? Really?

  • Kogan have raised there prices before the sale!!!

    • Any proof of this?

      • Im pritty sure the Kogan agora 4g smart phones were $230 before the sale was announced

  • Looking for a universal remote for under $50, any recommendations. Have my eye on the Logitech Harmony 650 at the moment. Plus I just picked up a PS4 so perfect timing; hopefully there'll be some cheap games.

    • Logitech Harmony 650 will be $43.12 delivered after 20% discount. From this retailer. Provided the price doesn't change.

Unfortunately the 650 does not work with PS4 as like the PS3 it does not accept IR commands. Yet it is still a very good remote for all your other devices.

  • +5

Assuming current prices don't change & these items aren't excluded from the sale, TGG will have some good deals for Samsung devices, e.g.

    Samsung S 4 http://bit.ly/1GnTCIA $449 → $359.20 + $6.44 postage

    Samsung Note 4 http://bit.ly/1GnTZTB $788 → $630.40 + $6.44 postage

    Samsung Tab S 8.4 http://bit.ly/1GnUjl6 $407 → $325.60 + $6.44 postage

    • +1

Keep in mind that their tech sale ends on Saturday so it might change on Sunday.

      • I can see there is tech sale ending Saturday on TGG's main online site, but I don't think this applies to their ebay store.

The items I listed in my post above have these end of listing dates:

        • Samsung S 4: 05-Apr,12:36 AEST
        • Samsung Note 4: 31-Mar,15:36 AEDST
        • Samsung Tab S 8.4: 07-Apr,17:36 AEST
        • eBay pricing is the same as their in store and website pricing.

        • Hi Kusala, I didn't know eBay end listing dates are displayed. Where and how do I find them?

        • +1

          @Joe888:

If you watch an item & then view that item in your Watch List, you'll see the end of listing date.

By the way, the three items in my post above now display postage as $5 [not $6.44]

    • Samsung S 4 price has increased to $478, meaning discounted price will now be $382.40 + $5.00 postage

Prices of other items listed above haven't changed, except postage is now $5.00

  • Hi does this sale include Pc internal Hard drives?

  • Any chance we will see the updated 2015 MacBook Air?
