For a few dollars more, buy a 1L bottle of grey goose from Dans (on special at $65) buy the bottle from aliexpress and you get better vodka in the same bottle for approx same price plus you get 300ml more.

Or you could just buy a bottle of mishka

      • You are trolling, right ?
No way could anyone that has any idea of vodka, let alone the history of the goose, recommend it to anyone, period!
For that amount of money, try Titos, Absolut Elyx, Heavy Water, Russian Standard Imperia or Pravda if you can find it.

        • hyperbole

theres nothing wrong with grey goose

for cheap vodkas i like finlandia

stoli is next up, grey goose is above that

        • let alone the history of the goose

Don't know that one, what history?

        • +2

@mad__llama: it's popular, therefore it's not good anymore. Grey Goose was good before it was mainstream.

        • @brezzo:
Grey Goose didn't exist before it was mainstream (EDIT: the vodka didn't - Sid already had the rights to the name from his German wine days)

GG has always been about effective marketing with the brand and vision existing before the vodka did

that said, it is a reasonable french vodka

          @tonyjzx:
There is only one thing right with Grey Goose, it distinguishes the knowledge of the person that requests/declines it.
Grey Goose IS a marketing exercise in creating a bespoke/premium Vodka from scratch.
It is PURELY marketing, with punters that swear by it being their preferred drink, failing to pick it in blind tests, and if anything, rubbishing it and finding themselves surprised to do so when the results are divulged to them.
It's quality was mediocre to begin with and gone downhill since then.
Try a bottle of Ketel One of Belvedere in lieu.

FYI, Ultimat was the first and a genuine premium vodka.
Absolut has changed their formula and is inferior to what once was.
Smirnoff is NOT vodka, it's metholated spirits and watered down, hence made overseas and bottled in Australia upon the label.
Another one worth trying is Chopin Potato Vodka if you can find it.
          Luksusowa is good Polish vodka.
Stolichnaya, despite being diluted to maintain a price point, is still a reasonable drink.
Zytnia is rated by those that ignore lables for a reason.

Reward taste, not marketing with your hard earned coin and don't even bother with Crystal Head (overpriced and average at best).

        • @086:

A great post, cheers! Think I have some new vodkas to seek out :)

        • @086: best vodka I've ever had was one bought from a small town in Slovakia. can't remember the name and doubt it would be sold in australia. The label was bluey/silvery and had a picture of a rustic hut/village on it. smoothest vodka I've ever had.

    • worst vodka money can buy.

      • Close, I'd have to say Smirnoff holds that honour.
Worst 'premium' vodka money can buy is more apt.

    • happy to make my own for less then $2/l

This is not going to have Harrison Ford coming after me if I get this right? Because the man has just escaped a plain crash, and I don't think his heart can take the excitement.

    • +3

a "plain" crash? As opposed to a fancy crash? :)

I see what you did there OP, just be sure you don't skull it all at once.

I bought 3x 1L skulls $6ea, 5x smaller skulls $3ea and 2x small skull ashtrays $2ea, they were exactly the same as this at King Kong Sales near Carseldine in Brisbane while on holidays last week. They had heaps of stock too.

    • +1

carseldine! That's only 3 miles from house!

  • How do you know they were 'exactly' the same?, Maybe these one's are betterer.

    • Well, I do admit on closer inspection, it is slightly different.

Aliexpress aren't exactly renowned for sending items that are identical to the pictures so i'm tipping you've got the better deal.

    • In order that OzBargainers not face an untimely demise (like those poor, floaties-deprived, crystal-crafting Atlanteans), here's hoping that these skulls are just ordinary glass and not actually real - leaded - crystal…

  • You can get these 1Ltr Skulls in Tassie at Shiploads. They're $4.50 each.

  • I saw these at the Reject Shop for $6.
