I would advise others to use DHL because most parcels from China Post come with packaging damage and some slight internal damage…
However, in this case the batteries cannot be shipped by air, so, it will most likely be rejected… ;-(

    • +1

I agree, I got mine shipped with DHL.
Some forums say Singapore post is much more organised than China Post, so it may be worthwhile spending those extra few dollars and selecting the Singapore Post option.

      • so most people are selecting DHL over Singapore?

        • +2

I selected DHL because I need mine before Christmas.
If you are willing to wait and don't want to pay the DHL fee then I would suggest using Singapore Post over the free China Post.

    Comes with full Windows 8

All win tablets <8" get "windows with Bing" for free.
Let us know how the battery life is on this :-)

I hope it is true 1280x800 and not faked like some other cheap win8 tablets.

    • Thought one of the rules was ram needed to be < 1GB. Makes me wonder if the licence is legit.

      • No, when it comes to RAM size doesn't matter.

  • so much mark up on this. These are $70 ish in shenzhen =.=

    • +1

      Shipped?

      • +1

        in shenzhen
only if you live in Shenzhen!
i have a similar tablet to this but the Teclast brand version, real nice IPS screen with true 1280x800 lcd, takes my 64GB microsd card no problems, very handy tablet especially if you get a BT keyboard too, note, stay away from the 1GB ram versions, might be cheap but you will regret it later!

  • $99 per chewie? Over priced…

  • +1

With the extra 1GB RAM, 16GB storage & 1" display makes it much better value over the HP Stream 7 & Pendo Pad 7.

Comes to ~$125.66AUD after current USD-AUD conversion & bank 3% intl transaction fee.

Is there usb port on it or we need otg cable?

    Just don't "punch it"…

  • +1

this looks really nice…. anyone know how long the battery lasts, screen quality etc

    • +1

No one knows yet as this model was only released in the last few days.

  • Wookie approved :P

  • +1

Comes with full Windows 8 (I would assume upgradeable to 8.1), not entirely sure if it comes with office.

Googled it. Comes with W8.1 installed & also includes 1yr Office 365 sub. Source

Android ROM is also in development. Hopefully its Lollipop instead of KitKat.

    • +2

Is there a link for any Android rom dev work?

      • Not currently, but I imagine if these are popular enough there will soon be threads popping up about stock/custom ROMs in the XDA & Whirlpool forums.

  • interesting.. better deal than the pendo 7 with windows?

    • +1

Most definitely! Worth the extra ~$35.

  • +1

Im going to watch this and look at the reviews when they come out.

    • +1

I'll have mine by next Friday hopefully so if there aren't any reviews by then i'd be happy to PM you about how it runs!

      • How quick was it shipped (ie. working tracking number)?

        • Seller is still processing it however I messaged them yesterday and got a response in about 15 minutes saying it will be shipped out soon. Not sure how long soon is.

        • @Forskin:
This is typical. Never trust them.

        • @PainToad:
Just an update seller has shipped the tablet. So far so good.

    • +2

mine is the same, except mine has an aluminium back, can't tell from photo here, ask me something if interested, short review, fast boot up <15s, smooth scrolling similar to nexus tablets, hd videos no problem, wifi/bt stable, OTG works fine, usb port is full usb spec as i installed a usb digital tv tuner and it works perfectly, battery life wifi browsing around 6-7 hours with little flash video, less with youtube etc, internal disk access is bit slow but considering it's emmc that's to be expected, most annoying thing? out of the box it was in Chinese, but just swipe on right, search for language setting page and change it from list
ps if you have fat fingers, you might want to get a BT mouse, unless you like poking at the screen 20 times just to close a window, where the X is probably 1X1mm!

      • can I stream steam games to this?

        • +1

Yes, hardware specs are more than capable. Just need a good network connection.

        • +4

cpu latency not too bad so streaming ok, speaking of video chat, front camera is useable but blocky but i figure for those who are "beauty challenged" this is a pro more than a con!

  • +1

Good price.. but will be interesting to see the build quality. I wasnt too impressed with the last two Chinese Windows tabs I bought..

    • +1

The Ainol? How much did you pay for it?

      • +1

The Ainol? How much did you pay for it?

        Somehow that sounds so wrong…

        • You should see that thread… It was 'Ainol' jokes all-around!

      • @scrimshaw - $160 AUD.. The WIFI sucks on the Ainol.. even after two driver upgrades - it would drop out or have packet issues. Everyone on the Ainol forum is screaming about the same issue unfortunately. My Voyo A1 Mini previous to this had problems with the touch screen and charger.
The Toshiba Encore ($249 from DSE on sale) works brilliantly though..

  • +1

Anyone know if this has a dedicated charge port like the 8" pendo or does it charge via usb?

    • no dedicated dc charge port, so it's usb charge

  • Very tempted… If it had a HDMI port….

    • +1

      MHL might offer similar connectivity.

      • Thanks! I was completely unaware of this technology, what a noob! Think I'll get one now… cheers :)!

        • +1

You're welcome. If you haven't already, I suggest you check to confirm that it is indeed available/implemented before buying if the feature is critical for you. It is quite likely to be included for a such new products but buying for delivery from overseas, return/refund isn't easy at the best of times let alone if it is not faulty. In other words, do your research and use my advice at your own risk as I am not liable for consequences. It would indeed be cool if it can do that and delivers on other advertised specification claims as I am also interested but hesitant until product reviews are available/published for this device. Feel free to take the plunge and let us all know :-)

      • Where does it say this has MHL?

  • Im very interested in the screen. how does it compare to the nexus?

  • Delivery time is up to 55 days so decided to leave it. Also not rapt with the details alibaba (or their payment gateway) collects for credit card verification - to me it appears excessive and potentially enough for identity fraud.

  • Anyone received theirs yet? Would love to see a review on YouTube.

    • don't think so, my order has not shipped yet

      • And you ordered on the 5th? Man they are dodgy.

      • Same here, ordered on the 5th and received an email today of a delay until 12th due to 'out of stock'…

        • Ordered mine on the 5th, haven't heard anything. Just checked and it hasn't shipped yet. Emailed them for eta.

        • @bluey47:
There's really no point emailing them. From my experience with Aliexpress sellers, they flat out lie continually.

        • Reply says
"we will send out soon ,then leave the tracking number here
my colleague needs a little time to test
          hope you can understand ".

Looks like Aliexpress is like ebay, its the actual sellers that respond so hopefully they don't all lie.

Bleeding edge technology if they are still "testing" it. ;-(

        • @bluey47:
Their not testing it. They simply don't have stock.

        • @PainToad: More like they're testing us.

        • @PainToad:
          They're* my bad.

          Edit: Actually both work?

        • +1

You guys are very quick to assume they are lying.
Its now shipped and I have my DHL tracking number that shows its on its way. I chose to believe they were testing it just like they said.

        • @bluey47: Have you received it yet? I ordered with DHL delivery too and yesterday my order was updated with a ChinaPost tracking number. I've send them a message questioning it but have not had a reply.

        • +1

          @ufohunter:
I got my tablet yesterday battery life is not that great. screen looks pretty good.

        • @aacheney: Thanks [@aacheney], do you mind me asking the date that you ordered?

        • +1

          @ufohunter:
          The fifth.

        • +1

I ordered on the 5th. DHL had it in Melbourne on Tuesday the 16th.
However I stupidly had it delivered to my Auspost Parcel locker which is very congested, so don't actually have it yet.

  • +1

Any opinions on this seller? DHL cheaper

    • Thanks for this link - I too would be interested in anyone's experience with the seller.
