    EVERYBODY!!!!
LET ME ASK YOU THIS? DID THEY ADVERTISE THIS?
FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, IT IS NO!
HOW CAN IT BE CHEATING OR BAIT & SWITCH (AS SOME PEOPLE ARE SAYING. UMM… I DON'T SEE THE SWITCH, AND ITS NOT REALLY A BAIT).

IF THEY WERE ADVERTISING THIS OR WHATEVER AND THERE WERE ONLY A FEW IN STOCK, THEN YES, I WOULD SAY ITS NOT A GREAT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. IF THEY ONLY SENT IT TO THEIR MAILING LIST, I THINK THAT IS OKAY TOO.

BUT PEOPLE- THERE IS NOTHING DODGY ABOUT THIS! IT WAS LIKE A "CLEARANCE SALE", APPARENTLY NO WARNING (FROM WHAT I CAN SEE) AND THE LUCKY PEOPLE GOT IT. JUST LIKE THOSE WHO GET LUCKY AND ARE IN A DEPARTMENT STORE AND FIND SOME CLEARANCE ITEMS.

TOUGH T**TIES TO THOSE THAT MISSED OUT, BUT DON'T START ACTING LIKE SPOILT KIDS

    • +1

      caps much?

    • +1

you left your caps lock on, it's on the left of the 'a' key

    • LOL well put!!

    • @Mick123
are u the owner of 1-day?

      • +1

i'm not the owner or any affiliation. i just don't like whingers, especially when it is not necessary.

        • +4

          stop whinging about whingers mick

    • +2

I hear 1-day.com.au is selling a new keyboard tomorrow for 99c but they only have 2 available. Hope you win one.

  • Great bargain for those that got it.

  • Probably 90% of the people clicking in were ozbargainers from this post lol.
So probably just all the ozbargainers making the traffic and site slow.

I first heard of the site from ecogamers chat like 2mins before 12. ahaha

    • Keep pulling these stats outa your ass…. roughly 1000 people online on Ozbargain and the PS3 has over 10000 views

  • I wonder how many of the people complaining they missed out are over-active ebay sellers :D

  • +1

Still its a bargain for some lucky one, even though thats like 6 people!

Cant blame the lottery for your numbers not coming up, all luck of the draw. I say good at least to have the opportunity.

  • -1

Just wait a few months guys, it will only get cheaper.

I must invent a time machine, go into the future buy heaps of ps3's for $100 each and bring them back to this time then sell it, I'd be a billionare.!

    Here goes….

    • you could just invent the ps4….also, they are now officially out of stock

      • +1

But then I'd have to market it sell it etc etc.. Too much trouble. Easier to buy something obsolete and sell it for more than it's worth.

Oh wait that's what apple does. NEW Iphone 3GS , NEW Ipod Nano with a CAMERA! wooo

        • instead of goin forward then back agen why not just buy ps2's and that way you only have to go back

          • @looseylu: U still have to come back.

Unless u wanna live in the past. So either way it would be the same amount of travel.

  • I'm over this and now thinking about other things, such as how to best weigh items that can't be hooked onto that Australia Post scale (which arrived today, woohoo). I figured that putting the items in a plastic bag and hooking the bag onto the scale works quite well.

    • -1

make sure you click the tare button! those plasttic bags weigh heaps! lol

  • Just beware that their shipping takes about a week to arrive from my experience.

  • Damn!! Kicking myself for missing out on this =O

    • +1

Don't worry … You are not missing out on anything …

  • why the email in order confirmation letter is [email protected]??

    • they seem to be a NZ company
      PO Box 5672
      Hamilton
      New Zealand

    • +1

After hearing about this and other successfull winners i wont be using the site how dodgy.

Any postive buyers who have received their goods ?

      from previous sales

besides the poster of this deal and the sock puppets defending the site

      • yeah i've a couple of things from them in the last month or so, i bought a multitool from them a few weeks back, it made it after a week or so… most of the stuff listed on there most days is crap though. lots of packs of socks and underwear lol.

        • I got a ipod shuffle for around $70 delivers (about a month ago) - took a good week to arrive, but all good

  • -2

reckon it was a scam! same as what's said already!!!

    • -2

How was it a scam, are u that dam thick.

Bought from this site many times!

  • +1

I got an Oakley Sunglass from them. That sale was pretty similar to this. Sold out in minutes. There is nothing dodgy about the site to mark this bargain as -ve. I am subscribed to their email and the email about this offer hit my mail box around 1151 hrs (I did not buy as I don't need it). Blame your connectivity/luck, if you have not got one… (not the poster)

  • Great baragin lol at all the whingers that missed out and stated whinging u are the ones that should be banned from ozbargain
U's need to learn what a bargain is

  • -1

negative because i missed out. boohoo!

  • +1

if you guys so keen to get a ps3 for under $400 why didnt you jump on this bargain for $385 with a free game which ended yesterday @ myer.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16482

    • I think it's the excitement of grabbing a "bargain" within a limited time that gets people sucked into buying it.

That myers bundle is actually cheap and you get it instantly, unlike 1 week wait for 1-day.com

  • -3

Meh… who cares about playstation anyway. It's just the same boring old format for many years now just given a spit and polish. I'll have my Wii over it any day.

    • +2

      lol wii, how embarrassing.

    • Wii is just a novelty console, you get tired of it. Real gamers use a PC, 360 or PS3.

      • +3

real gamers will play any console that they enjoy…be that the Wii or anything else. Saying gamers aren't going to use a Wii is a bunch of elitist nonsense.

      • -2

Real gamers need to get a real life. Wii is family or friends orientated and social. PS3 and Xbox are great if you have no friends, you can conquer your fantasy world all on your own. How fun.
        And Davo1111…you are a douche!

  • whinge whinge whinge. how many of these things u expect them to have at XX below cost?

  • you know what i find funny is that some of the people defending this are the exact same people who either voted -ve for previous deals or didn't bother to vote because they missed out.

  • +1

Damn I always miss the good bargains. They must of only had 10 units.

  • +1

I bet 80% of ozbargainers would of ebayed it anyways.

RAGE QUIT QQ NOW, more deals for legit customers in the future <3

  • Mildly off topic, but has anyone seen Batman Arkham Asylum on sale for anyhting below $100? Really want that game, but can't justify the money.

    • its an awesome game
we received it on friday. bought it off ebay, paid $70, brand new, sealed.
only thing is you have to wait for it to be posted, prob took about 7 days.

      • yeah I so wanted that game when I bought system from myers on weekend but damn it myers not stocking batman, oh well, I am sure it will come down in price soon (like 12 months :p)

        • Cheers guys :) Might ebay it as well, or check out playasia…though im not sure about our dollar at the moment.

  • Damn, that was the best deal.

  • -1

It appears that all the negative voters believe everything is about them, and since they weren't able to get what they wanted then it deserves a negative vote. Grow up already, this happens everywhere, first in first serve, that's life. You sound like such brats that you weren't able to buy a cheap gaming console, when there are people out there who are struggling to survive due to the recession.

    • +5

Actually i only voted this down due to the hypocrisy of the poster and some of the people defending this.

      • +1

  • Wow just like the $0.99 USB stick deal. See what I mean?….it's just baiting and it pisses people off. There's nothing good about a 'bargain' if people can't even get it. It's more like a lucky draw.

    • -3

so I guess we need to all start negative voting deals if they don't offer postage or aren't within driving distance? There was mention on the 1-day site that there was at least 30 units - that's pretty damn good….

  • +2

    Bait Advertising = Fail

  • Yeah they should totally just buy everyone who missed out a PS3 for free, just to make them happy, coz like, unhappy customers won't buy from them.

    EL OH EL

Wasn't advertised, its OBVIOUSLY below or at cost, and I'm sure they had more than 10 for sale…

Come on guys, did you really expect them to have enough for everyone at that price?

I paid $120 for my second PS3, through credit card rewards points. ZOMG WHY CAN'T EVERYONE GET ONE FOR $120! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Congrats to those who got one from this deal :) I bet even if they stated how many they had for sale, people would still whinge because they didn't get one.

    • +1

Granted these sites can be a lucky dip but you got to be in it to win it cause maybe next time you be lucky to get one.

And on sunday you would have got it for even cheaper and a free game via the myer bouns points deal. All you guys should have jumped at that deal had you wanted a ps3 for under $390 would have saved you hassle of this 30 second sale

  • i don't really care that i missed out (prob a good thing as i don't really have the coin).

for those that are defending the deal, if they only had one ps3 on offer, would it still be a good deal?

    • It would be a good deal to that one buyer. Not like there arent deals posted here where ppl list cheap consoles they saw at a single harvey norman or whatever.

And it's not worth arguing anyway since we know they had more than one so whats the point of bringing that up?

      • its a bit different when there is a one off at a store like harvey norman. HN are hardly going to advertise it as a sale then are they? and if they did, i'm guessing the many people that went to HN to purchase it, and found that they were all gone (despite them being there at store opening) would be pissed off, and rightly so.

the point (or question) is, what is a reasonable amount of stock that a store should have for any given sale item?

i'm not voting against the price of the item (indeed a bargain), i'm voting against the sale which was an exercise in bait advertising, and is indeed prohibited by The Trade Practices Act 1974 (SECT 56):
        Bait advertising

        (1) A corporation shall not, in trade or commerce, advertise for supply at a specified price, goods or services if there are reasonable grounds, of which the corporation is aware or ought reasonably to be aware, for believing that the corporation will not be able to offer for supply those goods or services at that price for a period that is, and in quantities that are, reasonable having regard to the nature of the market in which the corporation carries on business and the nature of the advertisement.

        (2) A corporation that has, in trade or commerce, advertised goods or services for supply at a specified price shall offer such goods or services for supply at that price for a period that is, and in quantities that are, reasonable having regard to the nature of the market in which the corporation carries on business and the nature of the advertisement.

        • well, due to the fact no-one knows how many units they had - it's probably going to be a bit hard - also, not sure how the Trade Practices Act or the ACCC is going to do much to a NZ company - but knock yourself out :D

          • @Mazley: yeah, i'm assembling my legal team as we speak… lol

NZ have very much the same legislation.

            • @johnnyonelove: I'm just pointing out the (further) lack of power the ACCC would have if this were dodgy - which I still don't think this is…does your legal team get free flights to NZ - I'm sure I could be convinced to join :P

        • geez… some people go to lengths!!!

ok, well guess what you would mean by the term "advertise". To my knowledge on this case, which is only from what I see on this board, there was no advertising in the sense that they promoted the product at the special price from before. So it wasnt really advertised. Unless some people claim the website itself is an ad (I don't follow that theory though).
Like I said before. Look at the 99c USB special that was on here a few days ago. Its one of the top rated deals here (even with a few negatives)! That was probably a non-advertised special too.

Like I said. If they had been advertising it for a lengthy time previous to the sale, then I consider it unethical business.

          • @mick123: google 'bait advertising', first thing that comes up. but you're right, this thread deserves no more time.

if they had not advertised it, then i retract everything. i thought it went out in their newsletter.

        • Both the clauses you stated state that
"in quantities that are, reasonable having regard to the nature of the market in which the corporation carries on business and the nature of the advertisement."

The nature of this site is that items go on sale for a maximum of 24 hours and are then removed. As such, it can reasonably be argued that it is not out of the question that they would have minimal stock. Nature of the market would also likely factor in the prices of the competition which again, would point towards them selling this possibly at a loss thus making large quantities of stock unrealistic.

Seriously for these sorts of sites this is nothing out of the ordinary at all.

  • 1-Day.com.au
The Myer deal was much better . I'd hate to try and get any sort of after sales care from these guys .
Selling anything that goes out of stock within 5 seconds is just free advertising and manipulating the system .

Ozbargain worthy ? not to me .

    • -1

I like the way you just assume that because it's mail order they have bad warranty service - I don't know if it's any good (never had to use it), but just assuming, like all the people assuming there was only 1 or 2 ps3's just sounds like sour grapes….though sour grapes do make nice wine…

  • -1

Or in this case ”whine” ;)

    • lol - nice

  • +2

Why do we need to post sites like these? COTD, 1day etc etc….

They always have deals and "specials", so nothing so bargain about it.

If you want to know about them subscribe to their mailing list.

  • Just got an email to tell me my order has been dispatched :)

    • your rubbing salt in these wounds rle02 !!

      • yeah my bad…
Was just a bit suprised. Thought they would take much longer seeing how many PS3's they had to dispatch…lol

        • got the shipping notice too
          can not wait :)

  • +1

I think it's a publicity stunt and free advertising! they could've sold a couple not losing a dough, given that the PS3 slim is rrp HKD$2399 from SonyStyle.com.hk, that converts to ~AUD$363, ohh, what a coincident! and remember that's Sony HK's rrp.

    http://www.sonystyle.com.hk/ss/product/ps3/cech_2012a.jsp

Yet, let us know if they deliver you an Oz version :P, their website never said!

    • Received mine this morning, Perfect Aussie Stock!

    • Just got my PS3 today.
Very poorly packed but managed to arrive in good condition.
Writing just to confirm that they shipped the Oz (or maybe NZ) version

  • +1

it's not a bargain if it doesn't apply to a substantial population, it's just a waste of time.

  • Given the price, I agree it's a bargain though there seems to be a disappointment at the amount of stock (which is understandable).

I'm keen to know how many they actually had in stock. An actual number.

    • they won't release that information - I tried - only got 'guestamation' to work on

  • anyone received theirs yet? should be here in next couple of days latest?

    • thought i'd mention i received both my ps3 and my wii last night. both are new, australian models as far as i can tell. played the wii last night. what a SCAM lol. better luck next time guys.
