[iOS] YouTube Premium Family Plan Monthly TRY₺209.99 (~A$9.35) @ YouTube App via Turgame Gift Card

5130

Hi OzBargainers!

Hope you are well and i promise this is not wirtten by ChatGPT (wink).

So, if you're a YouTube Premium user , you might've noticed things getting a little… sketchy lately. Like, one minute you're streaming without a care in the world, and the next, you’re about to pay $40 aud per month or lose all your Premium perks and don’t even want to think about downloading some random app from the dark side of the internet. Well, don't worry – I’ve got something that might just save you from the abyss!

Inspired by This post from RebeccaSkittles who helped me obain a Disney+ plan (I believe it still works albeit it says expired). The method also seems to work for YouTube Premium, so you might just save your membership from going the way of the dodo!

Also adding the following from the comment which is something I wasn’t aware:
@KangaDrew-
Shout outs to @PriceBeat who posted a huge thread of cheaper iOS apps back in Aug 2022 and @ISmellPennies who created the father of all guides in Oct 2022 (not forgetting to mention his Netflix guide of course).

How to Redeem

  • Create a Turkey Apple ID: When creating your Apple ID, ensure that your region is set to Turkey to ensure compatibility with this deal. For the smoothest experience, use an Apple device with Safari as your browser. If the creation process encounters errors, try again on another device. Problems may occur on other browsers for reasons unknown. Create your Turkey Apple ID at appleid.apple.com.

  • Once Registered, go to Settings - click your name on top - select Payment & Delivery or Subscription to make sure you can keep you main apple account signed in but using the new turkey apple ID to sign in for subscriptions and/or payment.

  • Purchase Apple Gift Cards: Visit turgame.com(https://turgame.com) to purchase Apple gift cards in Turkey. Please note that it may take up to 20 minutes for your gift card to appear after purchase. Additionally, you might not need to complete the verification process. Simply view your order, and if no action is required, check your banking app to confirm if you've been charged. If you have been charged, your card is on its way. If not, or if you encounter any issues, contact their support at support.turgame.com(support.turgame.com). I had a 20mins and a 3hours procceing time for two different transaction.

  • Once you got them go to Apple store click on the upper right corner then redeem gift card or code, enter your gift card code and redeem you Turkish lira credit

  • Open YouTube on your phone make sure you signin with the account you want to set up for family plan. click your profile icon "you" down the bottom right and then select youtube premium membership, then there is a line of blue word i remember saying sign up family plan and follow the promp to complete set up.

Important Notes:

  • No VPN is needed to access this deal. Simply create a Turkey Apple ID and purchase Apple gift cards from turgame.com to take advantage of these incredible savings.
  • When redeeming the gift card in the App Store, ensure that you have an address handy. You'll only need to log out of the iTunes and App Store Apple ID, not your main one. This allows you to switch between accounts without interrupting subscriptions or payments.
    Known Issues and Tips.
  • Differnt from Disney+, you can only set up monthly payment for YT Premium so make sure you check your account regularly for balance.
  • Heard the same method applies to India with a cheaper price ($5 per month) but i dont know a place to purchase India Itunes gift card.

Hope it helps and enjoy your subscription, and happy streaming and subscribe to PewDiePie!

Disclaimer: Please note that the effectiveness of the workaround methods may vary, and it's always a good idea to ensure you have sufficient funds in your account before attempting the subscription purchase. Prices mentioned are subject to change and may vary based on currency conversion rates. Please verify current prices before making a purchase.

I switched to this method after receiving an email to use a local payment method via India. Whilst this is slightly more expensive at least it guarentees a "local" payment option.

    • do you have to keep paying each month or does it automatically deduct from the balance?

      • +1

It deducts from the gift card balance.

      • +3

Deducts from balance. I loaded a few hundred
aussie on to my TRY Apple account to pay for YT and M365.

        • +13

Unless you have other things to spend the balance on, that's a bit too risky for me. Who knows if they'll find a way to shut down the loophole leaving you hundreds out of pocket.

          • +1

@dontpanic: It is a risk, they're not only blocking people paying with overseas credit cards, but they've also been detecting people who are predominantly watching outside their region and cancelling subscriptions.

          • @dontpanic: Microsoft 365 family subscriptions can be bought with the same method

    • I found the turkey price is no longer the cheapest one. If this method works, can we use it for cheaper country like argentina?

    • I got the same email for my Pakistan subscription. They are requiring local credit card now

    • +1

Indian Apple gift card is available from Amazon India.

  • -8

(profanity) Erdoğan, he banned Discord, so there are no more cheap Nitro plans.

    • -7

Yeah, literally brazil was the only one left (albeit still quite expensive), but then their Apple region requires some Brazilian tax bs or something like that. Let me know if you do find a way to get cheap nitro though.

      • +4

What’s the benefit of Discord nitro?

        • +13

Big swinging dick, baby (I think. I can't see any functional differences worth any money).

  • Would the new apple account be the family manager and would you need to invite before signing up?

    • +3

The Apple account is just used for the payment. You can use your existing Google account as the Family Manager. The email addresses don’t need to match. There should be no reason why you need to set up the family members beforehand.

      • +1

Can you explain this a bit more, I thought the family manager email needs to subscribe.

        • +18

You can create a Turkish Apple account with any email you like, let’s say [email protected]. You sign into the Apple App Store using your new Apple account. You add your Turkish gift card to the account. Then open the YouTube app and log in with whatever Google account you want to be your Family Manager. This could be the same email address as you used for the Apple account, but it could also be any other email address, let’s say [email protected]. You then go through the YouTube Premium sign up process, it should be in Turkish currency (as you are signed in to the App Store with a Turkish Apple account) and will get charged to your Turkish Apple account.

So you can just use your existing Google account as the family manager. Assuming you already have an Australian Apple account, you just need to create a new Turkish Apple account (with a different email address to your Australian Apple account).

          • +1

            @Hargain Bunter: Perfect, thank you

          • @Hargain Bunter: Any reports of getting your Google accounts banned? Manager and family accounts added?

            • @kunfushun: No reports of banning. They did cancel my YouTube Premium membership a few months ago when I was using a different payment method. But I signed up again with the same account using this payment method a few months ago and it should be more solid.

          • @Hargain Bunter: My circumstances may be similar to that of many folk here so I will be specific with my query.

I have an Indian YT family account that received the deportation email for 19 Dec unless I can show and add an Indian resident visa or MC. The Google family parent email is [email protected] (fake email so don't bother spamming). [email protected] is based in another country as an Apple ID and cannot be migrated to India for Apple ID purposes. So I set up another email, [email protected] (also fake) to be an Indian Apple ID loaded with Indian Apple gift cards. I was thinking to make this the new Google family head and migrate the family members there, but read somewhere the members may need to wait for a year before joining a new family. Somebody in another post made their equivalent of [email protected] a YT premium member (didn't specify whether family on individual) and added [email protected] as a member of the Google family administered by [email protected]; they explained the YT premium membership didn't share with the other family members.

What I am considering now based on your explanation above is to maintain my Google family account run by [email protected] as it is. Then I would log on to the Indian Appstore using [email protected] on 20 Dec (or earlier if I cancel) with an Indian giftcard balance loaded that would be used to purchase YT family membership as an IAP while the YT app is logged in with [email protected]. The payments would be made by GC using [email protected] whereas the beneficiary would be the Google family managed by [email protected].

Would the above solution be viable based on your current solution, assuming I understood your post correctly?

        • +2

Everyone in a family can share their subscriptions and purchases, so your Turkish account does not need to be the main family account. Also the Youtube account/email can be different to the Turkish one as well.
          Hope that helps

I'm currently paying $2.* via Pakistan but it's coming to an end next month thanks to an email. No way i'm paying $9/month, I'll just switch on adblock in my router for when i'm at home..

    • Adblock via a router??
      I didn't know this was a thing

      • +4

Most router adblocks are dns based and won't help for YouTube much

        • Well there goes that idea!

          • +1

@johnnytran: I just put Adblock on my laptop and that's only place I watch YT videos now. I have Indian Spotify which I use on the go, and that cost me about $30 for a year.

          • +2

            @johnnytran: Smartune next and revanced

          • +1

@johnnytran: TizenTube is the best for TVs imo.

You can load an open-source app of Tizen, and sideload TizenTube. It lets you load TizenTube instead of YouTube, which removes ads, enables speed increases, blocks in-video ads/sponsorship.

        • Agree, I got Asus + Merlin, can't remember if Diversion is currently installed (router level adblocker) but it won't block Youtube anyway as you say (and YouTube ads typically are hosted from the same source as the video).

  • +2

    Thanks OP for the efforts!

  • You can buy Indian App Store gift cards from Amazon India

    • I was thinking of going this route with my spare iPad. Do you know how much it would cost for the family plan if I setup an Indian apple account and buy the gift cards from Amazon india?

      • +1

        YouTube Premium Family (1 month)
        ₹ 389.00/month

        • Round $7. Not bad. Are buying Indian Apple cards as simple as signing in with my account on the Indian Amazon website or do I need to setup an Indian Amazon account also?

          • +3

@zubzub: I would vpn to India first to be safe but you just go to Amazon India and login with your normal Amazon account. Use Revolut card and all good

            • @rpb: Perfect. Thanks.

              • @zubzub: I’m interested if this works

                • +22

@HardQuiz: *** Using chatGPT for explanation so it’s easier for others to follow ***

It seems everything worked fine. I had an existing YouTube membership that was set to expire on December 14th. I canceled that and then signed up again using Apple as the payment method, funded by credit from an Indian Amazon gift card. The payment is now managed by Apple, using Indian Rupees, and the membership renews on December 22nd.

                  Steps I Followed:

                  1. Reset iPad to Factory Settings
                    • This ensured a clean start.
                  2. Update Apple Account to India Region
                    • I used an existing Apple account (not important to me) and changed the region to India using a random Indian address generator.
                  3. Set Up iPad with India Region
                    • During setup, I selected India as the region.
                  4. Purchase an Indian Apple Gift Card
                    • Logged into Amazon.in using my regular Amazon account.
                    • Bought a 500 Rupee Apple gift card for about $9 using my Revolut debit card without any issues.
                  5. Add Gift Card to App Store
                    • Redeemed the Apple gift card in the App Store to fund my account.
                  6. Sign into YouTube App
                    • Logged into the YouTube app with my primary Google account (no changes were made to my Google account).
                    • Canceled my existing YouTube membership set to expire on December 14th.
                    • Resubscribed using Apple as the payment method. It charged 389 Rupees for the family membership.

                  Final Notes:

                  • Membership now renews on December 22nd.
                  • No VPN was used at any point in the process.

Everything seems to be working smoothly. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Excuse the poor photo. Had to snap a shot with my phone - too lazy to sign into OzB on the iPad :P

                    @zubzub: Did this, cheers mate.

                  • +1

@zubzub: All sorted for me, thank you friend!

I didn't do a factory reset on my iPhone and it wouldn't let me create a new Apple India account.

Worked fine using my PC instead.

                  • +1

@zubzub: Nice write up, followed the steps and now I am subscribed using Apple Indian account on my old iPhone 13.

                  • +1

@zubzub: thanks finally found one method that works.

                  • @zubzub: i dont have an extra ios device. what should I change to try this on my mac?

                    • @toniteddy: If this is your primary Mac I wouldn’t do it. If it’s a spare Mac then the same process should work

                • @HardQuiz: definitely works, i did it just then.

            • @rpb: can you buy the annual plan instead of the monthly plan? at lease I won't worry for a year

              • @RichardF89: Not that I saw through the App Store. Happy for someone to work it out though

            • @rpb: Thanks, do you have transfer Revolut into rupees or is it the same card as you would here

        • +1

can I just buy an individual pan instead of family plan?

          • +1

            @RichardF89: Yes.

Do family members accounts also need to be newly created on can they join via VPN in Turkey?

I have no problem creating a family group under a new account but all my existing accounts seem to be flagged to Australia so I can't get them to join no matter what I do. Even with a VPN to the same country as the main family member.

    • New account only used to sign in for your apple main account subscription/payment, so you don't have to set up a new family account, just use your existing premium family account holder account on your ios YouTube apps and purchase your membership with turkey iTune payment method.

    • +1

I have moved between paying in India to Turkey with no issues. All my family members are normal Australian accounts.

    • I had an issue with this when I created my account a couple of years ago (not via this iTunes method), but I created new Gmail accounts via VPN for each family member and everything worked fine from there.

    • +1

the fix is to go to https://payments.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings for the main account sharer and expand "Payments profile for Google Pay" and check which country has been set for "Individual profile for YouTube". If it's Turkiye then add a fake Turkish payment profile for the user that's getting the country error when trying to join the sharing account. Once done they should be able to join without issues.

      • @FeZZa21 can you please share how to add a fake Trukish Payment profile for the user that's getting the country error? Thanks!

        • just search "random turkish address generator" on google

  • anyone successful with solutions for non-apple users?

    • +7

      Use Revanced

      For others Smarttube

      • +1

Any alternative to YouTube Music on iOS?

      • Thanks @seeknsearch - thats my rabbit hole for the weekend sorted

    • if youre not on ios, theres a lot easier (and cheaper) ways than this

      • +1

        Do share…

        • +3

Revanced on Android, uBlock Origin + Firefox on PC

          • @CHUNITHM Luminous: yep, the only reason im paying for premium are the times i watch stuff on my iphone.
at home, all my devices have ublock or revanced

            • @blurrrrrrrrr: No solutions for Chromecast though, right?

            • +2

@blurrrrrrrrr: Brave browser on iOS not only blocks youtube ads, but allows PiP and playing while phone is locked (by first using PiP, then locking phone, then pressing play again.

If you prefer to use safari for most browsing, you can easily long-press a YT link and “share to Brave” in one or 2 taps.

              • @eggboi: yes but a native youtube app is way better than using a browser on a phone.
                Browser good for PC

                • +1

@G-rig: each to their own. I'm not interested in any of the features the app offers beyond what I can do with Brave browser. Especially with any convoluted method of purchasing premium with turkish / indian etc workarounds.

                  • @eggboi: Yes everyone's use is different.
I got the shits too so uBlock Origin, revanced and smart tube will do .

I still listen to a fair amount of shit with the screen off an app on phone is a must not looking through a browser unless it's PC.

                    • +1

@G-rig: Not sure if you're android or iOS, but I did mention above that Brave browser on iOS allows playback with the screen locked. If iOS has that feature then I'm sure android can do it via some app.

                      • +1

@eggboi: Yeah no worries on android

          • @CHUNITHM Luminous: Does that work all the time or are there periods when it doesn't

          • @CHUNITHM Luminous: i use safari, is there an adblock that works on for YT? currently using adguard

          • @CHUNITHM Luminous: I tried Revanced and it works great but i believe it does not support casting anymore? With YouTube music, i could cast to my Sonos speakers :(

            • @ganjadeals: Why cast Revanced when you can use SmartTube directly on the TV instead?

              • @wisdomtooth: SmartTube works fine on TV for me. I cast my music from iOS to my Sonos speakers which are not connected to the TV in anyway. On the new version of Revanced, casting does not work and from what I've read on Reddit, quite a few people are facing this issue.

  • Has anyone tried moving to another country after the email ?

    • +10

I did. The biggest hurdle was getting a new visa.

  • +2

I'd wager they will eventually crack down on this as well, so enjoy it while you can!

    • +4

Perhaps but the EU is also cracking down on this anti-competitive pricing rubbish.

    • +1

Nah they cant, it’s subscribed from Apple payment platform, which Google needs to bind to the agreement. I can’t see any benefits for Apple to cooperate with Google to crack down on this and I love this
