***UPDATE 09/09/09 with scanned postcard****

For some reason I am unable to edit the URL field. So anyway, here's the scanned postcard: http://upload.ozbargain.com/2009/09/08/2440_myer_one5.pdf

So I got the PS3 for $499 bundled with Bond 007: Quantum of Solace. And I topped it off with the Sony PS3 blu-ray disc remote to meet the $500 per transaction requirement.

I know the other best deal people have gotten is $499 with Batman, and then selling off the game for around $70 on eBay. So that’s about $430 outright for the console.

And some say there were able to ‘return’ the game to EB for $110 credit. So that’s about $390 outright for the console.

So for Myer’s deal (using Myer Visa), it’s about $384 for the console outright (that’s -$115 in vouchers* + cheap game). Or if I chose to trade-in the game, which EB has quoted me for $17, that’ll be $367 for the console outright.

So it’s a great bargain if you’re using this promo in conjuction with the Myer Visa card.

•$500 = 1000 Myerone points + 5000 bonus points + 500 Myer Visa bonus Myerone points + 5000 bonus points for using Myer Visa = 11,500 Myerone points = $115 in voucher

Myer one 5th Birthday offer conditions:* Spend must be in one transaction, after savings and discounts. Offers available when you present your Myer one Card at any Myer store from 09/09/09 to 13/09/09. Offers do not apply to Myer Visa Card or Myer Card Shopping Credits or any other Bonus Shopping Credits offer unless specified. You can qualify for the Electrical and Furniture offers once per Membership only and the Myer Visa Card bonus offers once per Card Membership only. Exclusions apply.

***UPDATE 11/09/09****

JB-hifi quoted $26 for the Bond 007: Quantum of Solace. So that'll make the outright price for the console to be a nice $358 :)

  • Wow that's great news, think I should get a ps3 with that deal and I will get $60 gift voucher in return =D Hope they did not exclude that =P

    • Which is what I did an hour ago :)

Now time to hunt for game bargains …….

Too bad I don't have a myer visa card nor am I eligible to apply for one as a student. Anyway, could you explain on the part where you mention "returning" the games to EB? Would't I need a purchase receipt for that?

  • how much is the myer visa card ?

    • It's free for the first year. And when you apply, you get $30 credit.

      • Sorry, I couldn't find any information re: annual fee being waived for the first year. Is this a store only special? Cheers mate

        • My apologies. I think they got rid of the "1st year annual fee waiver" and replaced it with the $30 credit + vouchers.

  • keeps getting better :)

  • is the myer card (myer store credit card) same to myer visa card?

  • appranelty cost of card is $39 but the $30 credit they give you offsets it so its only $9 for the first year.

I havent got a MyerOne or MyerVisa, going to go tomorrow and try and get it all sorted in one day and one transaction….I could be getting a new Ps3 tomorrow. AWESEOME!!

  • The vouchers are only redeemable at Myer right?

So what are you guys planning to do with the $115 in vouchers? Splurge on another game or two?

While this is a fantastic pickup I'm conflicted on this. $115 is a lot, but when it comes to Myer vouchers, $115 doesn't really go very far. Everything at Myer just seems too overpriced to me. I don't need any new designer clothes or expensive beauty products, which would easily consume the vouchers. Anything in the games department will probably be at full RRP so I'd rather buy games elsewhere.

I guess I could sell the vouchers on ebay, but there'd have to be a discount premium on them so the net result wouldn't be worth much.

I really wish Myer was still part of westfarmer's group so that the vouchers could be used to pay the week's groceries. Or that I could just take the savings in cash =/

    • Yeah, it'll be part of the Myer one rewards gift cards.

I've always found that while Myer RRPs are pretty exxy, when they have sales (which is quite often) the prices are competitive against anyone else. I also quite frequently find random bargains at Myer in their clearance sections in various areas. For instance, the other week they had a further 25% off clearance items (i.e. anything on discount) in the hi-fi/TV section, so I picked up a display Sony HT (missing a remote and the box) for $225, down from $700! They also had random TVs that were way below cost after the 25% off offer, and the Guitar Hero WT band kit was $179 there a few weeks ago (down from $320 - I price matched at EB for that). I've also found a lot of clothing in the past in Myer where it was on clearance so 50% off the ticketed price etc.

So as long as you buy stuff on sale and not at full price (which is the point of this site), Myer can be very good value, and as far as I know Myer vouchers have a long period before expiry so you could just wait it out until the next sale.

BTW I think the OP forgot about the $39 Myer Visa card fee, so the saving is a little bit less than the above - still a good price though.

      • True, guess I should hold them several months until their (in)famous boxing day sale.

( … Hopefully I'd last that long and won't have the urge to splurge my 'extra' $115 lying around on designer crap like $50 brow wax. Then later wonder why I spent $500 yet all I got was James Bond and marginally less hair, when instead I could have had Batman. )

That extra fee used to be waived for the first year, but I guess they're having a new influx of applicants. A fair few from obzbargain no doubt ;)

  • woooot

i got myer to price match harvey norman

    they're giving me

any game to the value of $119 + slim for $499 + the extra vouchers i'm gonna get = cheapest slim eva!!!!

    • Holy crap! That's amazing! Where do you live? Could we have a receipt scan pretty please? =)

      • Don't need to.

Just quote a guy named Dave, I think he is the guy in charge of the gaming section in myers.

George street store in the city

        • Unfortunately I live in Melbourne =(. I went to Myer today and the guy refused me a price match without a receipt proving it has been done before. I have one day left. Would that still work, quoting someone from another state?
          Bravo though!

          • @lyl-Lychee: tell him if he doesn't believe it's been done before he can call the Dave guy in sydney lol!

also my receipt just says 499 with a game, doesn't say what game, but yeh i got to choose anything under $119

  • how many times can you take up the 5000 bonus point offer ?

is it one per card member ?

    • give myer a call lol!

passerby thanks for the heads up on this, i was able to get myer to price match jb $494 wrestle deal but as they couldnt give me the hdmi cable or bluray disk or the wrestling game i got them to give me $40 off for the hdmi, $20 off for the bluray, give me Bond for the wrestle game.

    So got for $522:
    $494 ps3 console
    -$40 hdmi
    -$20 bluray
    +bond
    +$44 resitance 2
    +$44 kilzone 2

i bought the games cause needed to go over the $500 value to get the $115 vouchers via points.

i think good deal but NOT avaliable at all myers cause i called around and not many willing to budge on price match cause they couldnt offer the bluray or hdmi.

    • Wow nice job mate great bargain
