'seems like AU is being offered old gear, again.

It may be OK as a cheap tab for kids… but not for serious use, IMO.
PS How much RAM does this tab have? How much of that is available to the user?

    • What do you mean by 'serious use'?

I've had this device for a while and it's handled everything I've thrown at it without any issues. It's quite a powerful device especially in the graphics department.

  • had this one when it was $99. can't download some of the games from google play. don't know what the problem is, since with other unbranded tablet I can play the game.

    • The processor is not compatible with the app. Not sure why HP chose Allwinner CPU as they have a closed source nature.

      • +1

I don't think that's the case. I've sideloaded a whole bunch of apps and games onto it which according to Play are incompatible and I've yet to experience any issues.

  • looks like a re-badged cheap China tablet, the name might be famous but the specs scream 'anonymous cheap tablet'!

  • Allwinner 31S - as found in lower end Pendos. The camera is worse than an afterthought, it'a an embarrassment and the four hour battery life is pretty tragic.

    • +1

Allwinner 31S - as found in lower end Pendos

Surely you mean the higher-end Pendos? This looks very similar to the latest 7" Pendo, which is quite decent. My 8yo loves it :-)

That and this HP are nowhere near the Nexus 7 of course. OK for the price, but nothing to get excited about.

      • I was lucky enough to grab a coles 8" with the cortex A9 and it isn't dead yet:-) The one gig of RAM speperate the HP and Pendo from the other cheapies tho. Officeworks have the same one for $79, so the $1 should be enough to get $3.95 off on price match/

I don't know what The Good Guys are thinking, but the HP 7 Plus is not the same as the HP 7 Slate.

  • The unit has 1GB of ram, for those wondering.

  • This is not a good price, been $79 @ OW For ages. And just for info the night sale took a whole $1 off from todays price.

  • What happened to the toilet tab?
Hp missed out on android doing its own os and tablet from palm now they are playing catch up.

  • +1

Battery life——Up to 4 hours wow!

  • I bought one of these for $99 at OW and while you can't install Instragram on it from Google Play as an exampld, 1mobile let me install it on my 7 Plus.
