  • Was this sale today? prob a little late but looks like a good deal

    • +1

      Starts tomorrow (4th)

      • Great thankyou.

  • Great price for a decent brand.

  • -2

Or you could buy it for $497 @ good guys here is link
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/159357

    • +1

Different model. I have already linked to that for you.

    • 50Hz and 100Hz..

  • Is it a national deal or just a state based deal ?

    • Appears to be national

  • 4k TV price war is coming SOON!!

    • same here.. waiting for 4k TVs to come down in price.. hoping for Dec..

  • We bought three 4k Hisense tvs recently and they were really bad. The latency on them was terrible totally unusable for interactive content (eg games, PC's etc..)

    • +1

Is this at 4k resolution? I think all 4k tv's have this problem atm because they run 4k @ 30hz

      • +1

its true that hdmi 1.4 can only do 30hz at 4kish but that is an issue with refresh this was latency in the connection.
Also the hisense did it at all resolutions even 720p was unusable

We replaced them with LG (god i can't believe im going to say this) The LG 4k was excellent. Still suffered from the jitter due to the limitations of HDMI but the latency was very good.

  • Is Hisense a good brand?

    • +2

      I've owned 2 of their TV's now…there won't be a 3rd :-) I've had both 720p & 1080p models.
I was initially coaxed by the 3 year in home replacement warranty, but when I had one die they showed up with a refurb. Not happy considering mine was only a couple of months old. My second one died just outside the 3 year warranty period.
      Each to their own though.

      • Agree

      • -6

You've never heard of extended warranty? Also I've had my hisense TV 5 years with no issues.

        • Go you ! Post January 2011 you're throwing your money away on an extended warranty. Check out the ACL or ACCC for further info.

      • I've had a Hisense LCD 42 inch 100hz for over 5 years and it has been used every single day, as a main tv, as well as moved across the country 3 times, NEVER missed a beat. Its still our main TV for everyday use, so its on approximately 10hrs per day, every day.

BOTH Samsung plasma's I've owned have died within 2-3 years of their life.

I would buy Hisense again, based on my experience, but NEVER another Samsung.

        • Agree.

I have the same 42" Hisense LCD that has been used similarly for the last 5 years, never missed a beat.

        • I had 12 hisense tvs in a lab which were pretty good. However, the 4k ones were lousy. So it really depends on the series of TV your talking about (like every other brand).

        • I paid $2500 for a samsung LCD which completely died after 4 years hardly used it approximately less than 1 hr a day and samsung asked for $1100 for the repair, wtf.
I also have a hisense bought it at $500, which has been using everyday for 3 years now with approximately 5 hrs on everyday, and still completely fine.

I agree that there is huge different in picture quality, but I personally will go for hisense simply because samsung doesn't worth. At the end any decent brand should last at least five to ten years regardless samsung or hisense.

    • +2

Not true. I have one in my office for a year now. No issues at all, runs almost 8 hours daily.

    • Well i suppose a Sense-ible answer from you is not going to happen :P

    • +1

I bought my hisense TV 5 years ago, absolutely no issues what so ever

    • you got give some ground by saying that, would you mind provide any?
it's not always "You Pay for What you get", I doubt thrice the price the TV would be trice as better and last thrice as longer.
Also, according to the $1300 sweet spot theory, if you pay $3900 for a "GRAND" TV 6 years ago (HD more likely) and it'll last for another 6 years; and me a poor man, paid $1300 for a brand new TV every 3 years, my 2nd TV would be twice as good in spec (FHD), and the 3rd one would be a 4K. you really pay for what you get - a 50" normal HD "stupid" TV for $4k.
BTW, I dont have a HiSense, a Sumsang and a Sharp.

    • +1

Oh I LIKE how you found something witty about the name, THAT IS clever! Now I have seen that connection between 'Hisense' and 'non-sense', that is the only evidence I needed, case closed! Thanks for saving me!

  • Any comments from users?

    • In a nut shell, a superior TV at Kogan price and you get 3 yrs warranty which something only Sharps offer.

  • Is this deal better than the $497 50 inch TV from the good guys? They both have the same RRP, yet this one costs 100$. Any benefit?

    • you wont get any benefit without reading comments above!

      • I know 50 hz vs 100 hz & the other comments… but is it worth the additional 100$? or will both TV look the same really? All I really will do is watch MKV movies & regular tv, not really fussed with sports..

        • +1

Unless you watch only Drama movies. Action movies will suffer on 50hz.

        • given the screen size, 100hz for extra $100 is worth it. Imagine if you use it for 5 years and you only pay $20 extra per year, you will get better watching experiences for the period of 5 years.

Mate bought one this morning, opened it up and it's only 50hz not 100. Exact same model TV as advertised. Be careful!

There is no mention of 100hz on the Harvey site or Hisense site. No idea why it was submitted with a title like that to the site.

    • -7

      He's 100% correct.

OP, you've got some explaining to do as even the link to TGG that you provided clearly states its a 50hz set only.

I checked all the links etc provided and cannot see any reference or even implication that it was ever a 100hz set, so why that was stated in your listing as a KEY FEATURE (which it is) without being 100% sure of it is a tad worrying. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but you've caused a major PITA for atleast the above OzB member. :-/

      • In my defence I used this reference for the Hz rating as I couldn't find it elsewhere

        http://www.harveynormancommercial.com.au/50-inch-127cm-full-…

      • +2

It's not OP's fault (it is HN's fault that they are misleading the customers) because TightBottom DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU and He/She is not benefiting from the deals.
It is your responsibility to check for the specs before purchase.

  • the link to TGG that you provided clearly states its a 50hz set only.

That was not a link to the product on sale but showing the link for the 50hz model that TRENT86 listed.

  • Mate bought one this morning, opened it up and it's only 50hz not 100. Exact same model TV as advertised. Be careful!

Get him to check model number. Is it 50k20P or the one linked above 50k370pg???

Your mate is not referring to the sticker on the back of the TV that says 240v 50/60hz I hope???

    • Well my mate's an idiot. He's got his PS4 plugged in and it's saying 1080p/50hz on the screen. Obviously because the PS4 can't physically output to 100Hz, it's just the screen making up frames.

      • Thanks for the clarification on that.

  • +1

Please note: this tv is definitely 100hz

At HN ATM to check. Hisense sticker on tv says 100hz amongst other features.

Updated link to show picture taken 5 minutes ago

    • How's the picture?

      • It was playing FTA and the picture looked very similar to the $2000 unit beside it also playing FTA same channel. Colours probably not as good as the expensive unit beside it but didn't have access to remote to tweak settings. Audio seemed ok as well for a border less tv.

    • Strange that there is nothing on the Hisense website to confirm it is 100hz (nothing to say if 50hz either).

French Hisense site states 100hz (google translation may help) - http://www.hisense.fr/K370-50

JB Hifi site has 55" version advertised as 100hz also - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…
But 50hz on the 40" version.
JB don't feature the 50" version online.
Maybe it's like the Panasonic entry level model where the 42" is 50hz, 50"/60" is 100hz.

    • I picked one up today and the box shows it as 100hz as well.

      • You should have picked up on of these while there. A stig beefeater BBQ

        http://www.harveynorman.com.au/beefeater-bugg-topgear-limite…

        • Good one.

      • We bought them but they don't run at 100hz. Its a bit misleading. No resolution actually runs at 100hz. When I rang them they gave some pappy excuse like thats the internal freq of the lcd but the inputs are only 30 to 60 hz (very low res for that).

  • I am using a Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500 which is pretty much at the end of its life as it does the ghosting effect and i need to wait upto 40 mins before it goes to normal. WOuld you guys recommend this tv I will only be using this for gaming (ps3 and ps4) and a bit of movies through my chromecast ?

  • Picked one up definitely 100HZ. Cheers OP

    • +1

No not really. no input support for 100hz on any resolution (check the last page of the manual).

      • Yeah I know realised when I got back home. Definitely gonna return it tomorrow. Gaming sucks on it

        • Sorry to see you got sucked into this too.
We had to return ours as well.

  • Not gonna lie but with this TV it's you get what you pay for. It's awful for gaming which is what I mainly use it for.
