LG 77-inch G4 4K OLED evo UHD Smart TV - $4981 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

690

Bought this yesterday, and the guy in the store was surprised the price had come down this much. So much so he made a comment about it.

Saving $3014 apparently from the regular retail price.

Not a huge fan of HN but a deal is a deal.

New TVs for 2025 are about to be announced/released I'd say.

Cheers.

All retailers are now roughly at this price, many with additional sweeteners. e.g. JB $4982, no sweetener. You can happily avoid the evil that is HN (surprised? lol, pull the other one).

    • +3

I had to spend my money there, because I had $credit from a TV bought there in 2021 which started to fail when the power supply went bad. Got offered a full credit to put to a new one and saw this deal.

      • +3

Just to confirm, they offered you a full credit for a ~3 year old TV that failed as part of ACL Warranty? Or you had Harvey Norman Product Care on the TV?

        • Product care

        • +1

ACL stipulates you’re entitled to a full refund or equivalent replacement (consumer’s choice). Eg you may not want a refund if you got a killer deal on the last tv and would prefer a like-for-like replacement. However, it’s likely the equiv spec tv is now cheaper. ACL also dictates they are not allowed to deduct any $ for depreciation / the % used of the expected life. Retailer can make you accept refund if there is legitimately no equivalent available (eg when plasma was phased out). No need to pay for “extended wty / product care / other bs” that is less than what your statutory rights already provide.

Caveat: sometimes accepting retailer’s offer of full value store credit + price matching another deal is acceptable, as it saves you time and they get the sale.

  • 83 inch?

    • 83inch is $2k more, 40% more…I'm sure it's nice but that sounds very hard to justify

  • +6

$4920 at Appliance Central with free shipping to metros..

    • Real deals in the comments.

Recently got the 83” Samsung S90D OLED for $4050…

    • umm really ?
      when and where?
best i can see is https://www.applianceswarehouse.com.au/product/samsung-83-s9…

      • That's and Factory 2nds too

      • +1

Well the deal originally was from OzB and Samsung, but I got HN to match the Samsung stacked deal.

        Reference https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/893385

It looks like the deal has expired now, but, I guess the reason for my post was that maybe don’t jump at this one unless you are desperate now

    • +3

      $4050 with no dolby vision

      • Not sure what the point of this comment is? The prices are hardly comparable for the 83” version in this thread ($6981) vs the $4050 I’ve mentioned. Dolby vision isn’t that good… thanks for your contribution

  • +1

Same price as the $4981 at Bing Lee & The Good Guys but they have promo if you combine with a G series sound bar extra $1000 off.

They only have one model by the looks of it
    https://www.binglee.com.au/products/g-series-420w-3-1ch-dolb…
So essentially only paying $98 for the sounds bar.

    • +1

      HN have the soundbar too.

      • +2

Ahh if that's the case, same same then.
Didn't realise as wasn't in the Ops post

  • +1

$4970 + $300 gift card @ video pro would be negotiating between stores for a better deal

    • +1

HN deal come with a $1000+ soundbar for an extra $100. Maybe useless to most but I'd say it's better than a $300 VP gift card.

      • ahh didn't know that, agree HN would be the better option

  • +4

I paid roughly $6400 for the 83" 6months ago during the EOFY sales.

Its a lot of extra money for the slightly extra size. But I am so glad I got it. Its such an excellent TV.

    • +1

6 inches may not sound like much but if you look at the increase in real estate it's more than 400 in² extra

      • -1

        6 inches extra.. hmmm…

  • +1

Yeah it’s a bargain when it’s $5k or less for an 83” Oled

  • For an extra $100 you can bundle it with the LG soundbar that pairs specifically with the G4.

Is there such a thing as a dumb OLED? I feel like all the "computational" power are just wasted energy when I have an apple tv that does it better and more efficiently

    • Don’t know if a dumb OLED as such. With that said, I’ve got an LG OLED with the Apple TV setup. It automatically loads to the Apple TV and that remote can control it all. Just accepted the basic features of the LG TV. Apple TV works perfectly.

The LG does have really good features if you ever need it. The quick access using numbers on the remote is a well planned feature.

    • +1

You can make it dumb. Don't connect it to the internet (update it first though) and it will automatically go to your last used HDMI.

      • It's more the power usage. If high nm router and PC chips are any useful of a bench mark, I wouldn't be surprised if 30-50+ watts are wasted on the inefficient chips using early 2010s tech.

        • LG alpha 11 uses a 7nm process.

          • @tp0: Really? That sounds decent

  • If you can access LG partners website it’s $4641 with the $50 first purchase bonus.

    • Showing $4419 on mine. Better priced than the C4

      • Wow! I find it strange they have different prices on the same website. Which business/program do you access it through? Mine’s Blue light card.

        • LG vip under one of the big 4 bank staff offer

  • $4,971.74 delivered with LG EDU account - should include delivery, basic install and removal of old TV too (at least it did when I bought from them in Nov)

  • Got the C4 83” during the 10% back in GC offer few months ago from Harvey.
Paid net $4590 for C4 83” (factoring in GC) - delivered.

Little difference in C4 or G4 gaming or normal tv viewing at home once you remove the demo videos.

    30% sports
    30% Netflix
    40% Gaming

    I have a G4 65” too .. can’t make out difference enough to be bothered .

    • +6

G4 is actually quite a bit better than the C4 in gaming because it doesn't suffer from any brightness reduction whereas the C4 goes dim, even dimmer than the B4. G4 is also nearly professionally calibrated, although C4 is fairly decent out of the box. Another difference is the C4 has a green tint at an angle, while the G4 has perfect viewing at any angle. You also get a 5 year warranty versus 1 year on the C4.

      • Brightness not an issue for me. The C4 is powerfully bright i have it at 50%

    • +3

I spent extra for the 83" G4 as the side of my TV is bang visable from my main hallway.

So having the gallary chassis makes a big difference for me. It helps keep the house looking clean and minimal.

      • So that's how you sold it to your wife. Nice one :P

  • +3

Just bought this yesterday from Bing Lee. They chucked in the G series soundbar (Which retails for $1,098) for no extra cost and knocked a few dollars off the TV and delivery.

    Paid just under $4,940 for the LG 77" G4 + LG SG10TY + Delivery.

    Really happy with that.

    Samsung 77” S90C OLED $2599 @ Costco

Saw this the other day but out of stock online, might try your luck by calling up your local Costco.

    • +1

Unfortunately, the 77-inch variant of the S90C in Australia is WOLED and not QD-OLED otherwise I would've jumped all over this Costco deal

  • If you aren't droppinh $5k on a TV you aren't keeping up with the Jonses.

    • imagine someone caring about something you don’t care about

      • -1

I imagine lots of things. It's fun.

  • +1

I have a 65” lg oled and recently picked up a 98” tcl c855. Also have the older 85” c825. The 825 is great, but the 855 takes it to a whole new level.

Don’t think there much point to oled any longer with mini led and countless dimming zones. The brightness is on another level without any perceivable blooming like on old or cheap sets. The bang for the buck.

Nice surprise the 855’s ability to make 60fps as clear as120 - great feature for gamers.

    Just one man’s perspective.
