Just got my ANZ FF cards for 50,000 and ANZ Platinum cards for another 50,000 .. Time to sign up to this one as well for another 40,000 …

For those wanting to skip most of the form and apply through net bank -
*Remember, you must apply through the links on this page to be eligible for this offer.

    Almost missed that.

With all these applications you're making under your credit report, wouldn't this be bad for your credit history?

      • +1

I don't need a credit rating.. I already have two home loans and one car loan (Home and investment property)..I'm 33 how many more loans do i want? :) By the time i need another loan i would have assets to put up against the borrowings.

use link and Apply in NetBank .. looks like this is an easier way around the applying via the link for existing members

Your credit report is important not just for taking out loans. A bad credit report could for example affect your ability to get a new mobile phone contract, utilities, and other applications. I would be a bit careful. Once you have a bad report, it can be difficult to change.

    • How did you double up on the ANZ deal?

      • i got a FF and a FF Platinum , its not the same card

        • +3

You'll be in for a bit of an unpleasant surprise when ANZ invokes the terms and conditions on that deal, I'm afraid :-( I'll be happy to be proven wrong of course, but I reckon you'll get 50K points in total, not 100K.

        • I did the same as you, although I already had the platinum, I got the standard and the black….now waiting for my 2 x 50k servings! And Ive already flogged the 2 qantas club passes on gumtree for $90 that come with the black card!

        • Agree, the T&C for the ANZ seems pretty clear that its for new customers only etc.
Once you had your first card, you were no longer a new customer.

          @muzzamo:

Applied for both at the same time so i was a new customer at the time for both.. ACCC time me thinks

Hmm not waiving the annual fee makes it a lot less attractive. Probably still decent value if you jump through the hoops.

Good deal, personally I'm happy to purchase QFF points at less than 0.5c a pop. Just remember to cancel it as soon as the points hit your balance!

What I hate about all these promos is that you don't get any reward if you're an existing customer :(

    • where does it say that?

All i could see was ^^ If you hold a qualifying Commonwealth Bank account or loan when you apply for an Awards, Gold Awards, Platinum or Diamond Awards account, we’ll discount your annual fee each year by $30.

    • cancel the cards and re apply when their is a promo. Thats exactly what I did with ANZ. I already have another 8 backup cards with other institutions that offer points to apply. This one is gold though…fee free!! Funny story I only cancelled my ANZ cards 2 weeks before this promo began. Came at a perfect time

Local flight segments usually cost $36 in taxes if paid by points. With 40K points, I can do 5 free flights to use up these points and pay $180 in taxes. Total card costs = $140+$180=$320. I can possibly squeeze in 3 flights for about $350. So I basically get 2 flight segments out of this deal.
I think I will stick to ANZ cards for a while.

    • Ive just signed up :) will update with more info when i get approved.

140,000 points in a month wow haha

    • I like it that you do the maths; and of course others' maths will be different…like individual's value if redeemed for business class or (for me) the value of a flight during school hols.

  • fine print…"An additional annual $10 Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct opt-in fee also applies."

    • but once we have the points card will be canned!

When will I be charged the annual fee?

You will be charged the full annual fee with the first statement and then refunded 50% of the fee as a statement credit within 60 days of activating your credit card.

Do I have to opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct?

You will be automatically opted-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct as your rewards program (an annual $10 opt-in fee applies).

When will I receive my bonus points?

It will take 90 days for the bonus points to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account provided that you are not in breach of the Conditions of Use for the Commonwealth Bank Platinum Awards Credit Card and your account remains open.

    Is this by invitation only?

According to T@C "Offer only applies to the recipient of an email from Qantas about the offer. To be eligible for this offer….etc"

    • yep.. i signed up and after a few days I called CBA for an update on my application, the rep asked if I received the email from Qantas and advised that I might not receive the points if i didn't receive the email. Suggested that I call qantas and ask if they could send me the email.
