      • Doesn't make it any better. It's misleading the consumer. Jack up the prices during a sale so that the discounted price is sometimes more than what it was prior. All retailers are guilty of this and it's dodgy to the core

        • yeah, doesn't make it better but this is a ebay deal, not a DSE or kogan deal

prolly not worth a +ve but not really worth a -ve

  • Im watching this one 281335683871 same price at their website. we will see if they jack up the price or not.

I suspect they will. and I will NEG !!!

  • -1

Why upvote these BS deals? Why my negative vote been revoke? This is bull shit …

  • not sure if mentioned in last 5 pages but good guys have the HTC ONE M8 for $830.00 after discount becomes $664 cheapest you will probably ever be able to get AUS stock for until they it becomes a run-out model next april-may when next one will probably get released

    • Its been mentioned, but I wouldn't jump the gun and say it'll be the cheapest price till next year. From what I've been reading HTC is losing money everyday, and may need to lower the price to entice buyers. :)

  • +1

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Eneloop-XX-LSD-1-2V-950mAh-NiMH-R…
this was $16.xx yesterday, now it is $26.98.

    dirty trick.

    • +1

Nothing tricky about it. Eneloops come and go on sale for a day or two regularly. Wait a while and it will be back under $20.

  • Boo, couldn't find the Wii U 8GB Skylanders bundle at The Good Guys, Supercheap Auto, Dick Smith, Appliances Online, Catch Of The Day or Kogan

    :(

  • +3

If you are going to neg the deal because of price increases, could you atleast wait till the deal is active first. Who knows some of those things could go down in price again, though it very unlikely. :P I'm leaving my neg in reserve till Sunday. xD

  • +6

Negs are necessary to highlight potential issues with a deal otherwise some people that refuse to read
1000 or more comments might not be aware of the issues

    • +3

      really depends
the person who neg this deal said

"The item I had my eye on exactly 2 days ago has gone from $955 to $999 to $1,013."

after discount the items is 800 odd bucks which is cheaper than 955 without the deal

sure it would have been nice to have 20% of 950 but 20% off 1013 is still a good deal

  • Wish I could neg this deal. I already voted. iPhone 5c (yellow) price on Kogan website is $549 + Delivery while iPhone 5c (Yellow) price on Kogan eBay site is $583 + delivery. It seems like no deal at all.

    • That is one example of Kogan's pricing. Not an indication of the deal as a whole.

    • +1

But you'll be getting 20% off that price* on their eBay store… which is much cheaper than their regular price. That's the bargain.

(*assumes this price and stock are around come Sunday!)

    • Apple iPhone 5C (32GB, White) UNLOCKED Kogan $624 'Buy it now' seems pretty good after 20% off.
      Can't seems to find any 5c 16gb.

  • Hopefully the massive discounts currently in the DC Shoes store will be maintained on Sunday.

  • Never shopped online with Dick Smith. Checked their ebay website for info on deliveries but couldn't find out if purchases are couriered (or posted?) to your home address and whether someone home has to sign for them?
    Thanks

    • I received stuff from them this week via courier. I had to sign for it.

  • Canon 600D on TGG was $670 with more than 10 in stock. Checked every day since this deal was announced, no change until today. This morning the price crept up to $697, i can deal with that, but now just checked again and suddenly there's no stock.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111327494172?ssPageName=STRK:MEWA…

    Negged.

    • I asked TGG about this sort of thing. Their reply - "our web team has advised us that our eBay Store is updated automatically every 3 hours, adjusting the available products and pricing accordingly."

      • good on them, sold 10 units under 3 hours.

      • I might of believed that statement if i hadn't of seen 'more than 10' suddenly turn into zero stock.

I did go into a TGG store today trying my luck at getting the 20% in store. Firstly not one staff member knew about the Ebay sunday deal, and secondly said the current $697 is a special price and no chance to bargain for less even though another staff member did say they would price match their own website. We'll see come Sunday.

        • Back in stock

  • +2

would down vote this deal, but I can't change my vote. Good guys removed Dyson vacuums, cooler and heater, PS4 and HTC M8. I presume they remove it because of this 20% off promotion.

    • Ask them on their FB page.

  • +3

Yeah the stores are removing most of the good deals + jacking up the prices on all the rest…

  • +4

Seems the redemption code is CBIGTREAT, according to the eBay facebook page, but it isn't active yet.

edit: and now they've edited their post. see http://imgur.com/D0H36F4

    • Nice find

    • Seriously how can their fb team £#@%up twice in a row by releasing the code early.

      • Marketing strategy?

    • This voucher code is not yet ready for use. Please try again later.

      • @nightshade well spotted! The error message is a good sign that it will work soon vs saying it is invalid. Good find!

PS. Still nothing to buy from DSE, TGG or Kogan. The few things i wanted are all overpriced now. Neg from me now.

    • Just ordered HTC One M8 with the code -it's definitely working.

  • Aaaand Kogan begins the mass-evacuation of products from their store. So it begins.

Screw all of this deal—what's the point when you can't get the stuff that's actually competitively priced after the discount?

    • +7

Why don't you wait until Sunday, then if your items are missing or severely higher in price, then you can complain.

Is it not ok for stores to update their inventory before a sale?

So many people going ape shit over nothing.

Just keep an eye on what you want, then if it's a great price tomorrow buy it.

You guys don't realise that they might be updating for several reasons, good, bad or neutral.

I've actually seen a few price drops on items since yesterday but I'm not mentioning them yet because they might change again (and are currently showing no stock, but I know there is).

When Dick Smith had their own 20% off eBay recently, stock disappeared and came back & the thing I noticed first was they removed the shipping price to update every item with Free Shipping - of course the OZbargain community was outraged while stock momentarily disappeared.

The other change they made was to show the coupon code underneath every item. Again everyone on here was going crazy in disgust, "oh sneaky / dodgy buggers have removed everything", "probably increasing their prices" etc etc this is outrageous call the ACCC!

When all they changed were actually good things!

Ffs people grab a violin and a box of tissues

      • +1

I personally think it's not Ok to update the inventory for a sale. When you call it 20% storewide … it should be storewide and not some products in the back. Otherwise just don't call it 20% @selected retailers … it's just not true and misleading.

Where does it end … call it 80% storewide (but just remove all the items you don't want to sell at that discount or whack up the prices before). The term SALE is misused and doesn't indicate a SALE anymore when this gets worse … (this is not a problem for us OZbargainers as we are comparing the prices … but lots of people will just jump when they hear the word SALE … )

        • +4

          Wombat, you're missing the point

        • 2 TV's I'm watching have both dropped approx $200 each since yesterday (and are now very competitively priced both in and outside of eBay deals) and are in stock with more than 10 each.

Is this kind of inventory update ok to you?

        • @apate: I am not sure if I miss the point. I am not talking about these adjustments in general. Lets assume they would now increase the price of any item 25% (so that it will be the same price as before when you apply 20% discount) … maybe leave one old PC Game a bit at the same price to make it a sale … Would you be happy with this inventory update? Would you still call it a store wide sale?

I know I am going to the extreme here … but where does this stop … can you adjust 50% of your inventory and still call it a 20% sale … or maybe 25% … or 75% … or a few items …

I don't think I am missing the point here.

@nismo: See above … I don't think this update has anything to do with the sale … (It is to stay competitive). I think it is not Ok to increase the prices to wipe out the discount … and still be allowed to call it a SALE. See comment of Dju … his item went up 130$ …

        • If you bothered to read all the comments you'd see some price have been going DOWN. Your comment is akin to Henny Penny just because a few prices on items you are watching is going up.

        • +1

I know that some prices are going down … and I am not questioning that there are good deals. Nevertheless … it's false advertising promoting 20off when it a lot of prices went up. (I would say it's the opposite and the majority went up … even when it's only maybe a bit … it's not 20% anymore … it's less and it should not be allowed to say 20% off … as it is not.

(I am from Germany … and this type of advertising would be illegal there …when you say 20% off storewide it needs to be 20% off storewide and not one price can be higher than before … otherwise it is not storewide anymore).

As mentioned … I am not doubting that there are good deals here (there are lots !!! I voted even positive.) … but it is just not 20% off all items … and that is the misleading part which I am questioning).

      • +3

Okay well you were right, sort of, I guess—Kogan finally put their stock back on their eBay page. Now the item I want is $130 more expensive.

  • Just got back from TGG and they confirmed that they still have 136 laptops across Victoria in stock.

But what do you know… click the link i posted this morning and it says " out of stock " my ass..

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-F550LD-XO290H-F550-15-6-Core…

    Shame on them…

    8:18PM: The laptop has reappeared.

    • +5

      So what's your point?

Aren't stores allowed to update inventory?

Or do they have to inform you & /or the OZbargain community first?

  • +1

Shame on you the Good Guys. No doubt your web team is watching this thread closely.

Jacking up prices and removing items certainly isn't in the spirit of this eBay deal!!!!

You really are the Bad Guys!

  • -1

Dick Smith 40 inch tv was 356 a few days ago, today 380, wtf…

    • +2

Well you're still saving over $50.

    • +6

      It was $399 last Sunday…

  • -4

Hi guys, does anyone know if Kogan selling everything 20% off or just what's on their ebay website?

    • +9

Well considering this promo is offered in partnership with eBay, what do you think?

      • +1

        Lol!

  • +1

Please, all, please do not buy on Sunday. Since they upset us, we should revenge on them by not buying!

  • Looking like stock appearing back in the TGG ebay store - yay! Do you really believe they are that dynamic in updating ebay listings, or do you think ebay told them to pull their socks up?!

    • Hard to say. At one stage they didn't have any listings at all, which was surprising. I've noticed price drops here and there as well, so I don't think it was in response to the discount.

      • -1

Same here. I've also noticed price drops and inventory updates, but this isn't in line with the conspiracies going around so we better keep quiet…

  • so where and when is the coupon code released?

    • +1

According to a post on eBay Australia's facebook page (which has since been removed), it's CBIGTREAT.

  • LG 32LB563B 32"(80cm) HD LED LCD TV NEW
The GG shows AU $337.00 now

    with 20%off , that's 269.6 awesome

    • -2

Although it sneakily doesn't mention on the listing what the pixels are, I looked it up and this IS NOT FULL HD. 720p screens just can't compete with full HD, worth spending that little bit extra for a much better screen resolution.

      • +1

720p on a 32" TV really isn't as bad as what you are making it out to be. As long as the TV isn't cheap rubbish.

It's actually still a very good picture, that most won't tell any difference from the recommended viewing distance.

Many would argue that 1080p on 32" (and smaller) is wasted on such a small screen.

This chart is a good reference http://s3.carltonbale.com/resolution_chart.html

        FYI
2 metres is approximately 6.5 feet.
3 metres is just under 10 feet.

      • +1

        lmao!

"sneakily does't mention the pixels are“??seriously?!

        what does HD mean?

      • Doesn't even say it's full hd…

  • +1

I just don't understand what they are doing with these prices. Have a look at the number of price revisions for DSE xbox one console - no kinect. Now "out of stock" but it looks like they change the prices a few times per day !?

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemRevisionDeta…

    • You would find the system is automated when they change it internally its reflected on their ebay and online pages.

Its a managed system which will auto update prices regardless of change at times when something changes internally.

Sometimes the price may not change but their software systems will still 'update' the price of the unit

  • +2

I was watching Moto G on DS store which was around $200 this week knowing it'll be around $180 with this weekend sale but now just checked the item and the price bas been changed to $238.
is this kind of practice against any standard regulation?

and with other members comment about similar price increase once this 20% off sale, it's actually xx% up sale.
this deal is worth a neg, which I rarely use.

    • Kogan have the 16GB Dual Sim Back but for $237 now.

    • +1

this deal is worth a neg, which I rarely use

you should put a calculator on that list too

  • +2

LG G2 32GB @Kogan for $368.80 after 20% discount seem to be very good price, still hesitating as I really wants the LG G3.

    • +1

I'm sitting on the fence as to whether I buy this myself.. my old Samsung GSII is struggling.

    • Me too. I want a G3, but the G2 price is very good atm.

  • I have a few questions.
How do you tell which items you will get the 20% off?
I am looking for a Samsung Galaxy phone. Prefer a S3, S4 or S5 full size with good GPS.
Please post a link for best price on Galaxy phone unlocked or optus network.
    Thank you
    Ron

  • Im looking at getting a rice cooker from the ebay good guys store…it says postage is $10, do they offer collection from store as well so I can save the $10 as I live 10 minutes away from one.

    • +1

When TGG had 30% off, I paid for shipping. I then phoned up the shop and was offered pickup, and they refunded my postage in cash. Not sure if they still permit this, but you can try your luck.

      • Had you specified a store?

      • Ok cool thanks for your help Make it so. I'll see if I can do that tomorrow when the sale is on!

  • If people think that due to this eBay sale all of a sudden they will be getting items below cost price on a mass scale then people are dreaming!

This sale is an eBay promo done to stimulate eBay sales (I guess online and Gumtree are getting to them) not to send companies broke LOL.

Search hard for what you want and you might get a really good deal all from the comfort of your chair at home…if not boo hoo.

    • +1

We can speculate all we want but no one knows for sure who is wearing the 20% discount, could be eBay, could be the retailer, or could be both. I think why people are getting upset if the retailer takes advantage of the demand from this sale by increasing their list price (as they commonly do in brick & mortar sale) OR if stock is pulled effectively given effect an exclusion list, when we know for sure that stock can be bought from the retailer brick and mortar store or their own website.

    • +4

done to stimulate eBay sales (I guess Gumtree are getting to them) not to send companies broke

you guess wrong. EBay own gumtree.

      • Yes, eBay own Gumtree but they don't take a cut of every sale there like they do on eBay.

        • The site still generates lots of money. And they control both markets.

  • +3

I tried to get them to change price to catalogue price but they said the price was an error:

  • +3

After several hours of looking the sellers items I can not find anything worth that I need ( or even just for the sake of owning them ) even after 20% discount :"( tears …

    • +3

The last deal 15% everything is a lot better.

  • +1

Well this is a sham, was eying of 55" Samsung tv on disk smiths, was 1399 on website as well as ebay long behold this morning ebay price up to $1592 dse website still $1399 given website also has 5% exra off it's better than the sunday 20% ebay deal such a shame they try and scam us

  • +3

Yep 15% off on the last deal was MUCH better as they didn't restrict it to certain large retailers who just jacked up all their prices or remove stock. I managed to snag a new Xbox One kinectless for $350, I'd be dreaming if Dick had deal like that this time

  • At what point do you have to enter the code?

Is it possible to buy tonight and pay with paypal on the morning and still get the 20%?

Before anyone asks, an item I'm watching is on special but apparently the special price ends today.

    • From Supercheap ? Their specials end today.

      • Yes supercheap.

Hoping I can buy at 11:58 and pay with discount at 12:01???

        • +1

The discount starts at 10:01am tomorrow morning dude..

        • How long can something sit in your 'basket' ?

        • I had something sitting in my basket for a week or so and completely forgot about it. I only remembered because of an email reminder saying it was almost ending. I ended up cancelling it because I didn't want it.

        • Oh that's right,

Well I hope to buy tonight and pay at 10am

        • I put it in my cart last. Ight and went to pay at 7am and it errorred out.

          Not happy jan!

        • -2

Serves you right for trying to be greedy. Blind Freddy could see it was never going to work.
