Great offer. Got $160 when we traveled through Changi in Dec'13.

  • perfect timing i can say ..
    just booked my tickets
    have printed this stuff ….

Also a quick question should i be able to get some vouchers from the travel agent ???

  • +1

if you go to terminal 2 then check out the vegetarian restaurant up on the 2nd level. awesome food.

    • +1

or you could go get a haircut at the hairdressers who offer extras

      • it's a win-win

  • -1

    I guess Scoot doesn't count?

    • "Who is eligible?

•Singapore Airlines and SilkAir customers whose point of origin, as stated in their e-ticket, is one of the following countries:
Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey or the United Kingdom."

    • Scoot being discount airline obviously…wife was stuck at Changi for 10hrs trasit to Syd, due to plane breakdown, all Scoot offered was a $25 voucher and nice hard carpeted floor and cold benches for 200 passengers to sleep on.

  • Do you guys get any vouchers from your travel agent when u travel ..
i was wondering if i should ask him to provide some to me

    • I suspect not….When i inquired with agent during my trip in Dec'13 and he advised that vouchers will be available at Changi Airport..

    • When you get to Changi Airport, ask at the information desk and show them your e-ticket. You will get a voucher for each ticket you or family/friends hold. And they can be combined to use. You can claim once only either on the outbound or inbound trip.

At least that's how it was when I travelled through Singapore in 2013.

    • Who uses a travel agent? I book all travel and accommodation online, much cheaper than travel agents.

  • Perhaps combine with the $1 stopover if you're heading to India or West Asia (assuming stopover is less than 24 hours).

  • Any idea on if it works for one way trips?

edit: looks like I found the answer to that question.

Customers must be on transit through Singapore, which means that Singapore is neither the point of origin nor the end destination in the e-ticket. For example, a passenger whose itinerary is "Sydney - Singapore - Hong Kong" would be eligible, but a passenger whose itinerary is "Sydney - Singapore - Sydney" would not be eligible.

So yes, it works. The offer is one per electronic ticket.

    • Actually it shouldn't work.

Yours would be Sydney - Singapore for a one way trip, and therefore it is the end destination for that ticket.

      • -1

One way trip with a stop over in Singapore - like the sydney to hong kong example

  • I know this is not $100 buy why so little votes and clicks compared to the tiger airlines offer?

    • +2

Probably, few people are transiting via Changi compared to people using domestic Tiger air.

      • Uhhh, yeah. Giving away $100 vouchers in Australia, on an Australian site is always going to get significantly more + votes than giving away $40 vouchers in another country!

  • Also you have to redeem on your outbound leg (from Australia), otherwise if you travel to certain countries and only redeem on your way back you would only get S$20, because that's another separate promotion.

    • I claimed this last year, it was one claim only either outbound or inbound on a single ticket. You get SGD$40 per ticket.

  • Claimed this last year on a family trip, the hardest part is finding the counter to claim the vouchers.

    • +1

Yep, had to ask a few staff before we found it.

Any dramas soon turned into a nice free bottle of gin to head home with.

  • -7

Anyone able to upload a itinerary/ticket email (names etc removed obviously) so that I can make use of this when in Singapore in a couple weeks on an air asia flight? Would be much appreciated

    • You need an arrival boarding pass on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir (connecting from one of the eligible countries), not just an itinerary.

      • They also link the e ticket number to the voucher ID and verify the passport, so it's not possible.

  • Hey ,
Do they look at your tickets
Or u can just show the offer and it will work ?

    • When I claimed this last year, they needed the eticket receipt/itinerary and connecting boarding pass. and they typed the ticket number into their computer (to prevent multiple claims, I presume).

  • So my family of 4 are travelling out to the UK through Changi, do we get $40 each in both directions? i.e. $160 outbound and $160 on the way back home?

    • Sounds like yes:

5.Multiple vouchers may be used for payment.

      and no:

4.A S$40 Changi Dollar Voucher may only be claimed once for each ticket issued, either inbound or outbound flight segment.

    • Only one voucher per ticket/booking (not per sector)

  • Do you think they'll just keep extending this offer indefinitely?

Also btw the voucher they issue now have a very short expiry like 2 months meaning you'd have to spend it almost instantly (impulse purchasing…). I was there about 2.5 weeks ago. Last year they were valid for a year so my family and I stacked multiple trips' worth of vouchers for an iPad!

Btw the counter is near Hard Rock Cafe and the giant Panasonic TV iirc.

    • There's separate counters in all three terminals.

      • Yeah I meant to say that was for T3.

  • +2

Please dont visit Singapore in light of recent disturbing events
    http://vidd.me/v/vyf

    • +1

makes the 'Where the bloody hell are you' ads look like a truely world class promotional campaign in comparison

    • What the hell…

  • not sure if this condition still applies but when I transited at Singapore twice two(?) years ago I could only redeem the voucher once. Apparently the voucher can only be redeemed once per year per passport, regardless of how many tickets bought.

    • I have done it twice in a 12month period, did it in Jun 13 and Dec 13 and it was the same passport.

  • Nice one for those traveling via Singapore. We got $120 last year and used it for food, toys and books. But this was before I understood cost of liquor in Australia! I will spend it now straight on duty free

  • +1

    This is a great deal.

We had a party of 3 so got $120. Bought my wife a blouse and handbag (both 50 % off) and my child a watch. Ended up only paying a couple of SGN dollars of loose change I had left in my pocket from our stay in Singapore.

  • Is this $40 per itinerary not per ticket? I.e. you get $40 for a SIA return or one way flight? Is this correct? Thanks

edit: I am transiting through Changi both legs.

  • I told my parents about this on their way back from Japan via Singapore and they managed to claim the full $40/passenger.

Their travels were from Adelaide-Sing(transitting)-Japan RETURN. They didn't know about it until they were on their way home on the return flight and they still got the full $40 not $20.

  • Tips:
    1. This is valid for flights from other countries not listed above - so if a family member is coming from (let's say) HKG, then they may be eligible (read terms and conditions) for a $20 voucher.
    2. To collect, go to the iShopChangi desk (Aus flights are mainly in T3)
    2. Present Passport, Boarding Pass AND printout of e-ticket for validation. You cannot get the vouchers unless you have all 3 documents AND you e-ticket meets the conditions.
    3. Vouchers are usually valid for 6 months to a year. So if you are taking multiple trips, STACK them. There is no limit to how many vouchers you can use at once (it's just like cash).

Over the past 4 months, we accumulated $200 of vouchers, used them last week for SGD $260 worth of purchases.

    1. Note that you can't use the vouchers on everything. Some stores are excluded: Eg. Convenience stores, Left Luggage and Lounge Access - from memory.

    2. 1 set of vouchers will be issued per itinerary. Either on the way out OR on the way back. If you've claimed once (ex Aus), you can't claim again on your transit back to Aus. However, if you bought your tix using FF points/cash and have 2 e-tickets (one way out, one way back), you can get a set of vouchers each way.
