Bosch IXO Vino Cordless Screwdriver $29 @ Bunnings Rockhampton

560

I just picked this up for my 4-year old son. I looked at it when it was $69 but $29 seems more reasonable for a pretty awesome toy. Who knows… I might even find some use for it myself.

This seems to be in store only. I bought mine at Bunnings in Rockhampton. They had about 6 of them when I was there and I assume they will be going fast.

    Are they variable speed?

      • +4

i feel you. we get this from time to time.

      • +24

        I don't understand your logic.

Why would anyone research something themselves when they can simply get a random stranger on the internet to do it for them?

      • +3

I can see your point but if this info is here then it does save others time to do the searthing.

        • -7

When does it stop then? I don't want every deal littered with the full specs of everything on sale.

        • +20

If you're annoyed about a question, don't answer. The people that do answer are actually quite happy to do so.

Very odd thing to get all grumbly about.

        • Settle Gretel

        • +1

You might not but other people might such as myself….

        • I do

        • +4

Then don't answer, ignore, move on. Posts obviously not for you.

Hard to believe but not everything in the internet caters to your tastes.

      • +4

Bleugh is just mad that in 3 years he hasn't posted a deal that got this many positive votes…

    • +8

Practical questions like dan76n's should not be discouraged just because Google exists. Its not as if answering is compulsory.

  • Any one can confirm if this deal available at Fountain Gate store in VIC?

    • -1

Call and find out. Then post on here for others

        • +24

          then why even ask…

        • Agree, there's a minute difference between itsandhu's post and agate's reply!

itsnandhu, you got schooled, take it in your strides.

        • -2

Pretty obvious why even if 15 'members' couldn't work it out for themselves. If someone got the deal then he'd have a precedent to ask for one himself. It's the basis of lots of deals on this site.

        • I actually did call the store… they don't have it in stock

Any one can confirm if this deal available at Fountain Gate?

Nope, it's still strange to ask.

        • -2

If you've never got a reply like that (not in stock, no deal available) and subsequently walked into the store to find an item not only available but also on sale then you've lived an awfully sheltered life. Sometimes you can tell from the phone demeanour that the person doesn't know and doesn't care, sometimes they're just too busy to do the hard yards for phone callers. We regularly see Ozbargainers posting conflicting advice from the same store on this site - just depends on who answers the query, their knowledge and their customer focus. Rare? Perhaps, but it happens so, no, the question was neither strange nor unreasonable in any way.

      Riiiiiing, riiiiiing.

Ello, this is mrs head how can I help?

Oh, hi, I'm calling about the ozbargain

      Which one sir?

I don't know, the screwdriver one

      Eh?

Hang on, I'll go call a random person or my mum I tell me the details

      Ok sir,

May I suggest to try bunnings though, this is your child's head teacher you're calling

      • screws gone loose mate?

        • He's poking fun at lazy people. Read the posts above and you'll understand

        • Except its not actually funny.. But that's subjective

        • +1

De-caffeinated, I'm just getting quite bemused at the total 'dumbness' and 'grabby grabby freebie' sense of entitlement here of late.

  • +1

got very first version, without torque setting..useless for me..have give it away

    • +2

I have the first version, used the living c..p out, of it still going strong, its slow enough to set torque by feel.

      • Bloody noisy gearbox though… the Sony battery in mine still going strong. The internal switch toggle can tarnish so need a little pressure to put it in full power.

Power tools for a 4 year old?

    • You can't fight "The Knack", so why try.

    • +9

      Well… yeah…
He has a toy Bosch drill/screwdriver already and was quite disappointed when he realised that it was just pretend. This one is real and he is quite capable using it. I just drilled 50 or so holes in a piece of wood and he fills them with screws.

    • Boys and their toys :)

    • Power tools for a 4 year old?

Why not? It's not as though it's plugged into electricity, and there's not a lot of damage he can do to himself …. or the pets ….. or his house with a screwdriver, and he'll grow up learning how to use it.

      • His sisters hair may be a different story though…

Teach him hair and spinning things don't mix

  • +2

Good deal, would be handy for small jobs

  • Anybody know if the tip is magnetic for screws? What a pain in the ass it is dropping screws when drilling up or sideways with tight access.

    • Its not magnetic. I have one of these. Its a pain in the ass.

      • +1

Unless it's made of aluminium it's pretty easy to make it magnetic.

      • Try buying from Club X next time

  • +2

YOu'll never her me complain about drilling up or sideways into tight access. In fact, all i'll be doing is smiling!

  • +1

    Hi all,

Bought mine a year or so ago (not the Vino) and they seem very solid. I hardly ever use my drill now and I don't have to switch bits on the drill for other job. It should last until the non-replaceable rechargeable battery runs out (3 to 5 years ???). I think that it is worth the $69….30% more power….mmmmmmmmmmmm

No speed setting or torque settings on mine (stops when the bit stuffs up, your wrist, or you stop it) and bits are not magnetic (should be able to be fixed with a strong magnet such as that from a Hard Drive. Good luck getting it out :p).

    • No such thing as non-replaceable, given enough patience. ;-p

  • +1

    THAT'S FALSE ADVERTISING!!!

Two women SMILING as you open a wine bottle with your power screwdriver???

They would probably be thinking 'What an idiot, he gets us both at the same time and his idea of romance is a screwdriver…'

    • Didn't see that until you pointed it out. What a strange photo to put on packaging?

      • +3

It comes with a corkscrew attachment for opening wine bottles.
        IXO "vino"

        • +1

Although maybe he has another attachment for it later

        • +1

          hehe

    • It depicts 2 women will be smiling at you when you open the cork for their pleasure.

      I cannot see false advertising

  • looks like a good deal. I bought a fairly similar one with variable speed a few years ago for around $100. still rocks now.

  • This ain't a toy, and defiantly not for a four year old! Maybe a ordinary screw driver, you might end up having holes everywhere or things not to expect, but for siure I wouldn't give my 4 year old this, for pure safely, than being sorry.

    • Surely you know by now that all 4 year olds are not the same. I was considering buying this for my 3.5 year old - he is more than capable of using it safely. He uses our Furi knives without problem (supervised of course) and has been using a normal screwdriver since before he was 2.

      • +4

Funny discussion, my two year old took mine and disassembled her easel. She's a bit of a terror.

        • +2

Let kids be kids I say. I want mine to have fun and enjoy themselves, not be confined to toys that are deemed safe by overreacting peers.

        • +1

Just watch them while they play with it. Keep it away when done. Adult supervision they call it.

        • Adult supervision they call it

So many parents have never heard of such a ridiculous concept. It's much easier to buy toys with round corners and let them be feral. What I can't work out is if you never let your kid touch a screwdriver then how the hell will they ever learn how to use one?

    • He will only use it under strict supervision of course. It is a father-son team toy. He could cook his own omelette when he was 3 years old. Cracking the eggs and frying it up and everything. The key words here are "under strict supervision".

  • It was $49 at Cannon Hill Bunnings. One left and original price was $64.95

  • i havea 7.2 volt one that has 10 torque settings , paid $65 5 years ago and used everyday , chanrged weekly

sadly i dont think they sell them anymore :(

    • Your 7.2V is not an IXO. It has much higher torque capability and it has variable speed trigger, if I am not wrong.

  • Possibly clearing stock for new model?

Bought one in case of Zombie Apocalypse

I just went to Bunnings Sunshine, Victoria and they have ten left. I showed them the photo with $29 and they said it was wrong.

They called Rockhampton and said they are $49 there.

Also told me that the photo could have been doctored.

I told them they can keep their screwdriver.

    • Haha, that is ridiculous. I can assure you that that photo is authentic and was taken on Sunday in Rockhampton, QLD.

      • They also told me the don't match prices on Ozbargain. I said it's one of their stores, not a competitor.

        Oh well.
