PITA to use but serve a purpose. I usually see them on hard rubbish collections.

    • I left mine on the nature strip, without the bag of course as it turned into dust. Someone took it the next day… at least it still works as a blower…

      • +2

The bag is definitely the weak point in this - don't expect it to last more than 2 uses. Everyone I know has the same issue with theirs.

That said, the blower function for the price is great. But, Bulky.

        • +1

I bought one last week. Saw the research. Have used mine 6 times and hasn't missed a step. Maybe they have upgraded the bag?

        • +2

I use an internal diy bag made from flyscreen net, which will last forever.

          • +2

@simb24: I actually bought a second bag and put the old one inside of it. This double wall construction has now survived long term with large sharp stones getting in as well (which is what killed the original bag)

            • @goodwillN1: Outstanding suggestion…

            • @goodwillN1: Actually, I preferred flyscreen as it will more robust withstand against sharp rocks. Additionally, I think that double bags will create more resistance to the air passing through and reducing suction as well as reducing battery lasting.

Pretty sure anything that needs blowing away is gonna get blown away fairly soon…

    • +2

Guess supply and demand is kicking in. We can thank Albert for the sale.

  • +2

    Normally $59

Anyone have any comments on the mulching specifically?

    • +11

All I can say is the bag will last you 6 times if you are lucky and it is not covered by Warranty. A replacement bag is $25 from my memory. I had 2 in hard rubbish collection in the past.

      • is it possible to jerry rig another bag to the unit?

      • Mine is still going strong after two years. I empty the bag after each use, which would fill it to 50% maybe.

        • +4

Same here. I’m sure the bag will fail at some point but for now my only issue is the hassle of carrying the extension cord weight during use. Would love a cordless version of this thing, I much prefer mulching leaves than blowing them around for manual collection

          • @andresampras: I found the same but got the Ryobi with battery. Still pretty heavy to be lugging around so you're not missing out on much

          • @andresampras: Agreed with this 100%.

Bag feels cheap but has held up over a dozen uses. That said, I empty it once it approaches three quarters full after previously blowing out a cheap Talon material bag, rendering the unit useless.

If there was a good AliExpress deal on replacement bags and an ability to retire the cord and run off a couple 18v Ozito batteries, it would be perfect.

        • I have had to restitch the bag, but I'm sure it will ultimately fail.

I only ever mulch leaf matter though. Sticks would probably tear it to pieces in seconds.

      • +1

Whilst this was true for me, with the included shoe lace that ties the bag to the output of the unit just not up to it, I then replaced it with a cable tie, and have gotten heaps of further use from the bag.

Come to think of it, there was a square plastic top the bag was attached to that clips into the unit yeah? I lost that plastic bit, but the cable tie around the hole of the bag directly to the unit works a treat

    • Mulching works well - Had a few pinecone things and it had no issues !

      • same, but i find it often clogs the blower output

    • Mulching works good. Eats up leaves into little confetti pieces.

    • My experience on the vaccum and mulch has been excellent. Purchased a fortnight ago

    • Despite the cheap bag, mine has held up surprisingly well over two seasons of mulching autumn leaves. It's actually a reasonably efficient mulcher and the shredded leaves take up a considerably smaller space in my green bin as a result. Suction is quite strong and it even hoovers and chops up plenty of small branches up to 10mm in diameter without spitting the dummy. Yet…

  • this is free delivery with onepass in Perth

  • The bag alone is worth around $30.
I have this. It's quite powerful and the vacuum is useful to me.
Worth lugging around a power cable

    • +4

The bag also breaks super easy. So make sure to keep your receipt to then replace. I got a aftermarket bag from amazon which is stronger.

      • Yes it does, that's the downfall

        • +2

If you get the homelite bag from bunnings special order it is much better. I use mine to vac the garden after hedging and it mulches the mock orange nicely.

          • @bym: How well does it fit with the ozito blower?

            • +1

@DeToxin: It's got a velcro belt so as long as that is tight it holds on.

          • @bym: Good tip, but it's more expensive than the blower/vac itself!

Surely someone has MacGyvered an AliExpress or Ebay equivalent?

            • @UncleRico: I failed to mention I got my blower/vac of marketplace as a freebie because the original owner hated how often the bag failed.

      • +4

Do you have a link to the Amazon bag?
        Thanks

      • Could you please share link for the bag please

      • Got a link to the bag you use?

  • Replacement bag is too expensive.. bought a cheap one from ebay and it ripped on the first use.. ane recombination for a bag?

Will this help me blow away the impending cyclone in Brisbane?

    • You could try nuke it

      • +1

Dutto has already called Trump to ask him to nuke the cyclone… unfortunately he didn't say please

    • +3

Please don't try that. It will split the cyclone into 2.

      • But they will be category 1 cyclones each, so it's a win.

        • so basically Dyson-strength cyclones, yeah?

  • +1

In stock plenty of stores in Vic and I can add to cart and get free delivery with Onepass

  • Unit is fine but bag breaks almost immediately. A small twig mulched will tear through it with ease.

  • I have this and the bag is of the worst quality and won't last more than a couple rounds! The blower function is pretty good as you can adjust speed levels. Good to blow debris off after lawnmowing.

  • I have the 36 volt one and it's incredibly useful every autumn, when I have a shitload of leaves blow in from nearby. The mulched up leaves sit better in the garden bed than unmulched, so I can use them for compost.

However, it's pretty gutless and gets clogged up very easily. I'd be tempted to try a corded one just to up the power.

    • I'd be willing to bet it's night and day between the battery/corded options

    • I'm considering the 36V vacuum/blower but your comment has me concerned. Is the 36V really weaker than its corded cousin?

I used to own a corded unit and found it gutless. The petrol model I currently have is completely in a different league but, sadly, has developed faults, hence me needing a replacement.

      • Reviews suggest that concerns over lack of grunt on the 2x18v model are well founded.

        www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-36v-2-x-18v-brushless-blower-v…

1.9 stars vs 4.1 for the linked 2400w corded model…

        • I went down to my local Bunnings to check out the Vac blower. Yeah, too unwieldy even without the battery installed.

I jumped on the 2x18V blower. Seems usable one-handed for much less money. Now I just need to find a vacuum to fill in the gap…

  • Just picked one up from Warringah mall, they have 4 left in stock, listed at 39 but scanned at 35.

  • I had one, the bag ripped so it become useless as a vacuum.

  • Bag is terrible, Vaccuum is okay.

    Blowing is pretty good

  • Any alternatives for the bag. I hear it is not durable at all.

  • As others already mentioned, the bag is 💩 it literally disintegrated after a year. On top of that I paid $29 a few years back in Bunnings. It looks to me that $35 is just the regular price?

  • +4

I have purchased this recently, I read they've actually changed the bag to a more durable one in recent times based on the feedback. I haven't had any issues with it and really rate it - just fill the bag , unzip over the green bin and go again!

    • +1

I got mine a couple months ago and we must have the same new bag with the zip function too.

    • +1

      Ditto

  • If this is the same one that was $15 years back (after that competition with Aldi and their blower) then I would have to say it's not worth it unless you have a tiny yard.

I tried using extension cords for the vacuum but the bag would fill far too quickly that it was a constant back and forwards.

As a blower I ended up getting a battery operated one and I find myself using it a heap more. Just have the battery charged and use as needed.

  • -4

$35 is the regular price. Actually I got it for $29 a few years back, so it looks like it went up.

    • +1

      https://pricehipster.com/product/FGFXeM3CFraAckASsU6JGQ~HJ1K…

was $59 until today according to pricehipster.

      • Had a look at the link… I definitely bought mine for $29 in Bunnings, late 2022 or early 2023. I don't see that in the price chart so wouldn't blindly believe pricehipster. I'm obviously wrong on the $35 being the regular price.

        • Well pricehipster only starts from April 2023.

  • Variable speed 160-270km/h and in QLD? Sure you're not looking at the weather forecast?

  • -2

Past Owner - these are junk.

Wouldn't pay $9 for it as it'll end up in the bin.

Just pay a bit more & get something cordless.

  • any promotions on Bunnings gift cards?

  • Strange the discount should come up … I have been looking for a wet/dry vacuum that can handle the leaves etc that get blown into my shed.. and one of these was suggested .

I already have a Karcher Wet/dry but it only has the skinny hose and blocks up all the time when vacuuming leaves .

There are Wet/Drys around with 60mm or more diameter hose that will handle leaves etc without blocking but they are significantly more expensive than the Karcher, so this leaf vacuum for $35 sounds like well worth trying.. and they have them in stock at a local Bunnings..

    • I wouldn't be using this on anything wet, personally.

  • +1

These are just annoying to use unless you got a tiny area. Literally used it like twice. I put it on market place for like $5 and still no takers. Definitely ditching it next council pickup.

    • If you're in SEQ I'll take it off your hands

      • Nah sorry

  • Does anyone know how long the cable is on this by default? Anything more then 1-2metres?

    • Around 20cm long.

    • Yeah it's tiny. You're gonna need an extension cable so factor that in.

    • Bought a 25M extension cord with sockets on reel.
      Open up ozito blower box.
      Tries to find the cord.
      Aaarrgghh… fook mi….

Gonna get return exchange it tmr.

  • My wife used to blow for free.

Might just get this for 35.

    • Light up that tiny candle pls Hun?

  • Blow jobs in the garden will never be the same.

  • Have been using this for many years. No issues with the machine and the bag if you dont mind 1) heavy and bulky and 2) using extension cord.

At this price, it is a bargain but am looking for battery power n light weighted which doesnt exist in tge market.

  • I bought one of these last year and was worried about the whole bag situation but they must have updated the bag or something as mines been going strong for a year with semi regular use.

  • I rarely use mine but for what i do, it's great, bag has survived a bit, although it has a few tiny pokes through.
I live a few doors away from the beach, so in summer it's somewhat common to have smashed bottles left around, it's been really useful
