Though this is 50Hz one, it's still a bargain.
Is it 50hz though? I don't trust retail spec sheets, the Sony site says it has Motionflow XR 200, is that Sony's way of saying it's 200hz? I can't see anywhere on the Sony site advising 50hz on this model. If this is 200hz then it's a bargain with wifi and smarts, looks the goods at this price. Shame about 2 x HDMI.
Yesterday I Went to Binglee to buy kids 32" TV for their room and they had one of these on display for $995. Excellent picture quality and it looks really good as it is slim and has very tiny bezel… it has built in WiFi.. one downside is only 2 hdmi ports…I was going to get one on spot but couldn't fit it in my car..last night I ordered one from tgg for $747…
dude make sure you claim the free bonus, it only applies to people that purchased by the 24th.

Thanks mate…I saw the offer on their website and tried to claim yesterday..it came back as not entitled even though I meet all the conditions… I have emailed promoteam for clarification…
FYI - This is an edge lit led panel.
Please elaborate
I checked that before. In relation to this deal, is it a positive thing? I'm asking because I was going to buy a Sammy tomorrow.

Good price but only 2 HDMI turned me off
Yeah true that bheart, it's very misleading that on the good guys website it says "1920 x 1080 Full HD Resolution. 4 x HDMI and 2 x USB inputs. 50Hz. 1 year warranty."
whats wrong with only 2 HDMI's.
uve be running 1 HDMI to ur INTEGRATED AMP hopefully which will then have 5 or 6 or as many HDMI's as u want…
Got one, but 1am on 25th. Missed the bonus.
yes, the 2 hdmi ports and limited connectivity plus no audio out may take the interest off.
It has some sort of audio output… not sure if that is what you are after
Digital Audio Output(s)

1 (Side/Hybrid w/HP)Headphone Out
1 (Side/Hybrid w/Audio Out)I just bought $99 soundbar from DS and use the headphone jack from the TV to connect the White and red connection to the sound bar. What type of connector is the Audio out and what type of cable do I need?

How does this tv compare to this one?
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/samsung-50-127cm-full-hd-led…
It seems like " The Good Guys " have made some errors regarding the specs a[[art from the 4-2 HDMI connections.
The stated 50 Hz. also looks to be mistaken too. When reading up about Sony's Motionflow XR 200 in other sites they seem to think that on this model the correct spec would be 100 Hz. ( I know it's confusing ).
See the Sony site here: http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-50w670a
http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/lcd-television/benefits/tv-picture…
Flowing movement with no blur
See the intricate twists and twirls of a dancer, or the sprinter burst out of the blocks, like you’re actually there. Motionflow XR makes fast-moving action appear smooth and natural so you can take it all in.
Also some good reading from enthusiasts here regarding some facts and myths.
I still could be wrong here and stand to be corrected, as there are so many different models numbers out there ( just to keep us on our toes and sometimes entertained in order to research the best deal for us ).
http://www.whathifi.com/forum/tvs-and-projectors/sony-motion…
And the confusing misleading specs re-Hz. refresh rate goes on……
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/samsung-50-127cm-full-hd-led…
Vibrant colours and fluid movement
Samsung High Definition LEDTVs features Clear Motion Rate to help minimise blur in fast-moving images, Wide Colour Enhancer for rich, vibrant colours, and a 50 Hz refresh rate.
Video
Picture Engine - HyperReal Engine Clear Motion Rate - 100
Features
Since Samsung's website claims the F5000 offers "A Clear Motion Rate (CMR) of 100," we forgive you for perhaps thinking it has a 100Hz refresh rate. In fact, this is a 50Hz TV and behaves exactly as we'd expect a 50Hz TV to behave in our tests. At least Samsung isn't alone among TV makers in creating fake specs like CMR.
http://www.cnet.com.au/samsung-ua50f5000-339345847.htm
Hz. aside, don't overlook the fact that this Samsung is not a Smart TV., if that's important to you.
??? Just a bit misleading from both Sony ( see above post ), and Dick Smith/Samsung.
I bought this yesterday before I saw the Good Guys catalogue for $900 at Harvey Norman. Will be going back tomorrow to get a refund of the difference
do they have to give u a refund?
I will try with their 7 day price policy where you find a cheaper local price within 7 days of purchase they refund the difference.
Have done it before without any issues
anyone seen reviews of this tv?
can't seem to find any online or even whirlpoolhi just posted this on the other thread but there is a whirlpool thread for same model/series. i posted:
"Definitely a good buy other than being 50hz & not playing all codecs hence needing a WDTV type device- is the Sony."There is a basic thread on whirlpool: eg a few owners of the series/model below-
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2116202
"I bought one just last week.
Yes they do – I can't get it to work with a connected USB hard drive to play media (the TV freezes) – but I have a DLNA-enabled router which sorts that out – it will work with a USB key though. I have read that this is the case with most TVs – not just this one.
I haven't used the USB HDD record function, so I can't comment on how that works, but it needs to be a dedicated drive – as it will be formatted to work with the TV.
The SMART TV features are the best I have ever seen on a TV – you get built-in Ten, Seven, SBS and ABC iView catch up. Youtube, Facebook etc. With the Samsung TVs you don't get anywhere near as many catch up services.
The TV is however a 50hz TV – so if you watch a lot of action stuff, it will not be as smooth, but if you don't, it'll be fine.
Just in case anyone wants to wall mount this, whilst it includes a fixed wall mount it is NOT VESA COMPATIBLE so you can't use any VESA mount with it. I didn't realise this until after I got it.
Other than that, I can't fault it. There was an issue whereby the TV would freeze if you'd try and play MKV files, but there was a software update on Wednesday that has fixed that. :)
Go forth and buy!"
I have the 42" version of this one and it's pretty good, sleek and sexy with the thin bezel, can plug a usb in and record tv to that.
The only thing with it is being smart, it doesnt respond immediately when you turn it on, takes a few seconds for the os to be ready.
About refresh rate, i think mine is 50Hz but it looks alright, played ps3 game on it and they look fine.
With this price it's a steal, mine costed more that this bigger one when I bought it.
How about gaming in this TV?
from whirlpool thread seems good: 'I recently purchased one of these for use as a pc/gaming monitor… the sony…. Im pretty impressed…… my only benchmark is a 3 year old sony 32" lcd… but this CREAMS it… its super contrasty.. and extremely detailed…. video and photo's look absolutely superb on it.. Highly recommended…"

Hmm ok thanks
Just wish it had at least 3 HDMI inputsyup my few years old samsung 6 series 100hz lcd has 4 hdmi and it seems over last few years average number of hdmi ports has gone down on all but the super high end! i also would be cautious of a non 100hz lcd/led tv fwiw
Can you get a 100hz good brand in 50" for under $1k?
I think u can just get a Samsung Series 6 LCD for just under $1k when on sale. That is what i've found the best cut-off is. Whatever Sammy sell as Series 6 usually has that better/enough spec without paying for stuff like 3D or sales material like 200hz which is a misnomer. I'll find link as i had shortlisted a sub $1k 100hz Samsung LCD but decided to switch to Pana S60 50" due to reviews and wanting movies HD tv shows and AFL! i'll find the link then update;
Samsung-ua50f6400 - Still goes around $1280+ but that is like the Panasonic ST60 50" which got today for $997. I'd look for similar love my Samsung Series 6 100hz!
find this model on sale in next fortnight or negotiate around $970-$995
http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/samsung-ua50f6400-series-…btw unrelated but my cuz bought same 50" sammy series 6 lcd led tv i mentioned below Samsung UA50F6400 Series 6 50 inch 127cm Smart Full HD 3D LED LCD TV- 100hz 4 x hdmi from the good guys today- $1098. cheers bb
Has anyone seen this in a catalogue at all? Please let us know if you do.
I saw this in the local newspaper (the Adviser)
Thanks.
Yesterday they this one and 47" 100hz version next to each other and I couldn't tell the difference between the two in picture quality as they had the same blueray input for both. Picture quality was stunning on both so I went for this one as it was 3" bigger and $250 cheaper… not an expert
That was my earlier the analysis I concluded in my earlier posts above that this model Sony is 100 Hz.
KDL50W670A is 50Hz.
Motionflow XR 200 is a measure of combined events per second
* for W670A series = 50 Hz + 100 backlight events + 50 interpolated frames.Other XR 200 models, but different series, will have different combos.
* for R550a series = 100Hz + 50 backlight events + 50 interpolated frames.Table of XR info here
http://imgur.com/SKVN71r.pngTaken from this Sony video
http://youtu.be/acFRnyQ2rEQ?t=4m38sOk., thanks for doing the correct research on this case, I stand corrected. There are so many different values for different models. I am glad that you found correct info from Sony here.
Hows this compare with this - http://www.binglee.com.au/lg-50ph6700-50-fhd-3d-plasma-tv ?
Plasma vs LED, 3D vs non
I am wanting to use this with a USB device for movies etc mostly.
not sure if trolling.
Now $746 at Harvey Norman - http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-home-theatre/tvs/tvs/sony-…
Just picked one up at HN. Plenty of people milling around this one in store!
I got one online for pickup from HN. also got in on 2 years interest free. I wonder if it will fit in the back of my civic. Does anybody know?
with the tv still in the box and the rear seats down in the 09 camry, i managed to 'tetris' the box with abit of room to spare.
saved myself the $100 delivery fee
I have the 42 inch version, paid $800 near 6 months ago… Wow has the price dropped…
Is it good?
You game on it?
I turned it on to set the channels, and it's been used maybe 2 times since. Not sure about how games go.
Ordered one last night and got it delivered a couple of hours ago.
Pretty impressed with it all so far. I've not got masses of experience TV-wise but the picture and sound both very good to my eyes and ears. Also got it straight on the home wifi and found that it integrates automatically with my Android devices so I can throw YouTube to it, play back music to it as a DLNA renderer etc. Almost like a cheap Chromecast. Looking forward to what else it's able to do - hopefully I can find a way to get a PLEX client on it, that'd be sweet. Also be handy if I could get it 'thinking' its in the UK so I could put BBC iPlayer on it. I'm sure there'll be a way, I know I was able to do it for a friend on her Samsung.
Lots of good old fashioned tinkering ahead! Quite the buy.
On another note.
Went into Harvey Norman Browns Plains this morning to look at a few things (was nearly going to impulse but this as my secondary tv is on the way out)
They had it listed for $896 and I questioned it. He said this is the price for a great TV.
I then went on to show him the price on there website and he accepted he was incorrect not before telling he has sold 10+ before I arrived at the $896 price tag with no questions asked.
Just goes to show alot of customers do not do there research online first and the employees have no idea what is being promoted on there website!
Harvey Norman appeared to price match online this morning, so staff could be forgiven for not being aware if it was changed on the morning of the biggest sale day of the year. Bargain hunters on the other hand should know better!
Anyone know if you can play movies off an external HDD for this TV?
Yes it can. DivX compatible so can play avi mp4 mkv
Thanks mate
Bought one today. Used $40 voucher from the recent game clearance sale fiasco. Very happy with the telly so far. Cheers OP.
Awesome TV. The Sony webcams are more than $100. Are any alternatives?
I am looking if I can use Microsoft studio webcams but doesn't look promising as it looks like Sony TVs require Sony webcams.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Skype-Webcam-CMU-BR100-CMUBR100-Came…
seems like theres independent ones for it, dunno how effective this is though
thanks mate,
I have seen this listing the other day… not a bad price…
Bought this TV today and very happy with it.
Thanks for posting this bargain! After testing out a 3D TV yesterday at JB with better half, I am going this morning to pick this one up this morning instead. Thanks for all the posts.
Great to hear a few people took advantage of the deal! (including a freind under my reccommendation)
Guys n gals who have brought it happen to have any tips on settings changes out of the box I could suggest from someone who knows a little more then myself :)
Not hat he is unhappy in fact he loves it but can't hurt to get more out of it!
Ok got mine this morning… very happy and miles better picture than my Panasonic plasma…
Not sure but I think tgg has $100 credit promotion today that may make this deal even sweeter…instructions to complete your registration.

Was going to get it it but didn't as I wanted 5 year warranty and they wanted close to $200 extra. I know people say don't buy extended warranty but if something goes wrong after one year it will be a s**t fight I guess
For this price you might as well just buy it and buy another one in a few years at $400 when it does eventually die
I bought this yesterday from goodguys at further discount $710, paid extra $99 for additional 2 yrs warranty. Good quality with the price, can't complain more. I tried with blu ray is awesome!
One thing I'm not sure what I did wrong, I watched channel 7 using foxtel the quality is good, but when I turn to Disney channel is not that perfect. Anyone knows if I need to do any extra settings?
Thanks
How you get it for $710?
Can you post a copy of your receipt, at that price I'm gonna have to buy one now
can you please post the receipt..?
I just noticed that Dick Smith are now at $747 and free delivery - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/sony-50-full-hd-smart-led-tv…
thanks. grabbed the last one from Helensvale
Anyone tested with gaming yet?
Also should I get the extended warranty? HN warranty was $159 for total of 5 years
How much is TGG & DSE?
I've bought it yesterday and claim the $100 Bonus offer at Wetherill Park, the store manager was really helpful. It's really a bargain even if it's on back order and with extra $100 store credit cant go wrong.
Qld stores don't offer the cash back ;(
It was just mentioned by snajper on previous comments and they only run it on some of the stores yesterday.
Product is now gone from Good Guys, must have sold out!
guy at good guys said they had 70 (WA) and sold all out
i bought one via dick smith though!

"What's more, it comes with a TV stand that can also function as a wall-mount bracket"
Anyone use the wall mount bracket?
I'm planning to wall mount mine this weekend because of the kids. Can someone please advise me the appropriate height from the floor to the bottom of the TV if you are sitting 3.5m away?
Anybody who bought this having a problem plating XViD's via DLNA on this tv? It seems to play mp4's, but wont recognise any avi's when browsing the server.
Haven't tested using a USB.
Anyone who just purchased this tv have dead pixel? I am wondering what the replacement policy is for dead pixel.
Is the price online only?
