Vaya Power Plans V2 from $16 until 31/12/2013 (Price Changes from 1/1/2014)

50

It's your last chance to sign up for the current high value Vaya mobile phone plans before they raise their prices again on January 1, 2014.
You have to activate your service and port over by December 31 for the current prices, and then you'll be entitled to it for 24 months.

Changes from January 1:
Power Plan $16 will have its data cut from 500MB to 300MB.
Plan $18 is unchanged ($650 calls, unlimited texts, 1.5GB)
Plan $37 will rise to $45
Plan $52 will rise to $57

Note: I don't know what days Australia Post and Vaya are closed for Christmas and the New Year so you may not make the December 31st deadline. In any way, the $18 plan is still a great option with 1.5GB of Optus 4G data (and the cheapest out of every MVNO out there). Live Connected are also raising their prices.

  • Do Vaya power plans have 4g? Edit: Just read the deal, seems like it does. So it's the same as the live connected Medium $20 but couple of dollars cheaper

They're all 4G plans. Basically the same as Live Connected but a little cheaper and Vaya has a call centre.
I'm on the grandfathered $11 deal.

        loving the $11 deal too!

        • $7 plan's still good for me!

I'm on the $29 Unlimited Plan with 4GB Data and $100 International call credit. Awesome

      • Basically the same as Live Connected but a little cheaper and Vaya has a call centre.

LC and Vaya are owned by the same company and have the same call centre.

        • Live Connected don't offer access to the call centre, only having support tickets on their website.

  • +1

wow the $18 plan is the same as my live connected plan but with 4g

    its not changing right?

so i can switch next year when i get a 4g phone!

  • +2

To me, this whole 'price rise' that LC and Vaya are about to undergo is a big storm in a teacup.

The $18 plan is the only one worth going on, and it's price isn't changing. So what's the problem?

That said, I'm still on the $11 plan :D

Just realised that you can upgrade the 2GB data of the 2nd highest plan to the 3GB of the highest plan by buying a
Power Plus $7 1GB bolt on. It will come to be $5-10 cheaper than buying the most expensive plan but you won't be getting unlimited calls.

If you decide to sign up you could PM me for my phone number to put in the referral box when you sign up and I could split the $20 referral bonus with you.

  • I'm on the $11 plan too but its only 3G.

  • +2

Seems so promising, until realizing that international calls are excluded from monthly credit :(.

Guess I stay on 3G with TPG for now

    • Me too - hope they don't kick us off the grandfathered $18 plan..

  • Does Vaya charge fee if you have provided direct deposit detail to them??

    • I think BPay has a $1 surcharge while credit card is free.

  • 11$ deal ftw!

  • 55 cent MMS charge even on the $52 plan?

    • get Whatsapp

    • +1

That's crazy when for $40 you can get unlimited on the Telstra network via Boost (no 4G though).

  • Be careful, they bill in 1mb blocks. So if you're in an area with patchy reception every 'data session' will use 1mb, even if you only used 1kb. This also happens if you check for emails, etc. Read the vaya whirlpool thread first.

    • this stung me on my first bill, about 1500% over actual usage

    • They fixed this issue since June.

      • Really? There are many, many complaints about Vaya and its billing practices detailed on Whirlpool.

        Buyer beware.

  • also the usage metre is usually 2 days behind. I have had occasions where its showing 200mb data used, then it jumps up to 1200mb within a few minutes. Its very unreliable

I just signed up to ozbargain after years of reading and following the helpful hint and great deals to warn people of this company. I have been with most providers over the years and this is by far the worst for shoddy bills and poor customer service. They also just took it upon themselves to start billing my credit card of these incorrect bills and I never signed up for a direct debit system (bpay). I used my card to make the initial payment and they retained these details. I had to cancel said credit card as they continued to bill me 3 months after i closed my account. They may offer you a cheap deal, but they might just make a "mistake" and try to get some money back. Their billing system is designed to be complicated to try and confuse. So be wary guys. If you get frustrated complaining monthly to near impossible to get through indian call centres this is not the company for you.

Is there any reseller that sells the Vaya SIMs so as to speed up the porting from a Telstra Plan to the Vaya Plan? I am going to Adelaide today and will be there till the 1st January and would like to get the plan changed on my friend's iPhone while I am down there as she is out of contract and still paying $60 a month for an iPhone 4S which she owns now and has not received any discount in the amount being paid even though she has paid off the phone.

    • No, you can only get Vaya SIMs from Vaya itself.

  • 2013 prices are still there.

I just missed out on LiveConnected so i'm signing up with Vaya now. Hopefully the data problem won't sting me too bad…

    • how has it been going? thinking of going with the $18 plan
