How anybody can even begin to contemplate spending $11,778 for two tickets to London is beyond my comprehension!
Even more so when you consider the great deals being offered by the likes of Singapore Airlines and Emirates right now.
e.g. two economy tickets with SingaporeAir for approx. $3,000 - a saving of $8,778 over this Qantas "great deal"! There are a lot of things you can do with nearly $9k apart from sipping a better class of champagne at 36,000 feet!

Same thing though with the Statesman vs the Commodore. Both get you from A to B, but one is more expensive than the other, with more space and comforts. Not everyone wants to squeeze into a confined space for 20 hours and not be able to lie back.

i normally fly 1st, however the recession has resulted in me cutting back on smaller things like this..
I've had the pleasure of flying business class on several airlines, QANTAS being one of them. My experience in business class with QANTAS was very very positive and I'd recommend it if you wanted to treat yourself. A positive mention to Emirates, Singapore Airlines as well.
Or if you own a business and need to go overseas, speak to your account cough tax expense cough
