Power Tools $10 at Kmart [NEW STUFF ADDED]

790

Various Performer brand power tools all $10, down from $20-$30
Saw an 900w 125mm angle grinder, 500w impact drill, vibrating sander and a jigsaw. Maybe others, seems like its clearance stock as Kmart has pulled the product details from their website.

I would have snapped a pic of them but thanks to Kogan cancelling my SG4 order I didn't have a phone to do it with. (well actually I saw these before the kogan deal was even posted, but since when do we let the truth stand in the way of a good bashing?)

Neither myself or Ozbargain accept any liability whatsover for any fingers lost operating these 'tools'. However if that does happen, send me a message and I will look out for a good deal on superglue.

edit:ok looks like I overstated the numbers on the angle grinder, its only a 500w
Uploaded new pictures

As well as power tools there's also a 36pc screwdriver set for $5 with socket type pieces, 9 piece ring spanner imperial set for 50c, and torch with 2x 6v battery for $6

Torch and batteries $6
Ring spanner set of 9 50c
36 piece auto screwdriver set w/ socket pieces

+1 for explaining why you have no suitable phone. Maybe good value for $10, not sure on quality though.

I've got one of those drills (can't remember if it was from Kmart or somewhere else). It cost $35 and it's been working fine for almost 10 years now. It's not trade quality, but it's handy to have around if you don't need to use it every day.

      • +1

I got one of those too, and in the last 10 years never has caused me any troubles. I never have used it :-)

        • Mine does get used. It's been used for many home handyman tasks, as well as automotive tasks.

But since when do we let the truth stand in the way of a good bashing?

He/she was making an excuse, which wasn't valid, but acknowledged that.

      • i know

but totally irrelevant to this post tho

Bought Impact drill and Jigsaw a while back. Drill is fairly good for small jobs. Works well on wood, won't do much on Metal. Jigsaw broke after first use on some fairly weak chipboard (blade broke first, switched blade then the whole thing kinda fell apart).

    • I bought the Jigsaw for the one hole I needed to make for a dog door. It worked fine. Yes, the blades broke, but I bought a pack from Bunnings and they were stronger.

I don't have this drill, but a similar Power Master from Big W, and it's lasted me a few years. The batteries don't hold heaps of charge, but it's plenty for small jobs around the house. At something like $40 with a massive amount of attachments, it has easily paid for itself.

    • I was to buy the impact drill for brick wall. Seems a NO NO?

      • +12

More chance of making a hole in brick if you threw it at the wall!!!

        • I have used this drill for many things in the ~10 years I've owned it. It has enough power to snap bits (confirmed). It has drilled many holes in brick and concrete walls.

      • +1

I got this impact drill a while back to drill a brick wall. I can't remember if it comes with a drill bit or not. I got a "Masonary drill bit" from bunnings.

        Works well!

I have used it on other misc work in the house, no issues with it.

      • +1

It's strong enough to do brick. Doesn't come with any drill bits.

    • This tools + accessories from Aldi, and you're ready for a convert of swear-words

    +ve because I had a chuckle!

this was a good deal when it was on. tools are damn good for the weekend jobs - cordless too.

  • Is there anything similar to a Dremel?
I have a really small job at home where a Dremel with the tiny little rotating saw attachment would be prefect, but that is all I need it for. If I could pick up one what would do the job for $10 (even if it breaks at the end) that would be good.

  • +1

These are some real crappy tools.

Only good… well not really good for much at all other then the occasional home tool user. Even then I would get something better. Generally a good drill will probably last you for ever.

  • +1

+1 for the deal and description combo price

  • Anyone know if they have a heat gun?

  • Ha ha

  • Were there any sanders please? Could someone confirm this price has been seen at other branches?

    • I have seen it at Armidale NSW, they have 500W belt sanders.

    • There's a vibrating sander mentioned in the description.

    • Bought their sander a year or two back. It was terrible. The drill at least worked like it was meant to.

Only a few power tools reduced to $20 at Broadway Sydney tonight.

  • Probably last about a week and then burn out the motor.

  • +1 for the kogan s4 debacle comment

  • all i saw at Dandenong Kmart was the sanders for $10
that said the Impact drill is only $20

  • +1

These impact drills are OK for trepanation jobs

  • How are thee compared to Bosch and the Japanese ryobi?

    • +6

"hi darl can you replace that floorboard on the deck" - the kmart drill

"hi darl can you build me a deck" - the bosch drill.

    • Japanese ryobi

      Do you mean Chinese Ryobi?

      • Founded December 16, 1943
        Headquarters Hiroshima-ken, Japan

  • Merrylands, NSW has around five sheet sanders and jigsaws left. The tags say $15 but they scan at $10

  • as usual you get what you paid for, my advice is to test before leaving store, bought 2 of those cordless Performer spotlights before, one ok the other no go, after opening it the red positive lead had come off pcb, 2 minutes later fixed with soldering iron

  • Didnt the commercial add have a samurai? Im sorry arnt samurai's from japan? Regardless all tools are made in china anyway.

  • North Rocks, NSW had stocks of the sheet sanders and angle grinders.

Few weeks back there were some of the single-speed 12v NiCD drills, and I bought one. It is crap…. far too slow 550rpm, and not even variable speed.

The bottom line is that they are cheap, but you will almost certainly hate yourself for buying one.

  • +1

Confirmed only the jigsaw and sander is discounted to $10. Others like the Impact drill ($20) are normal price.

  • +1 for the description!

  • I managed to get a Sheet Sander for $10 at Maitland about 12.30pm. They also had Angle Grinders, 12v Cordless Drills and Impact Drills displayed at $10. I didn't notice any Belt Sanders. Excellent post, OP.

Nothing at KMart Casula, NSW. All items mentioned in the deal being sold at RRP except the drill which was $20 (reduced from $35), but Aldi's RRP for 1200W drill is $25 (lot of stock left (in Carnes Hill, NSW).

    • Did you scan them? Could be that they're just not marked. Seems to be a nation wide clearout.

      • I scanned them and can confirm the non-clearance prices

      • Yes I did scan the hand grinder, which I was after.

    • Yep just went there tonight and can confirm this. Only the vibrating mouse sander thing and jigsaw is 10 bucks. Impact drill is 20 and there are other things for 35.

  • got the impact drill for 10 , as there was a yellow ticket for 500w impact drill for $10
drill scanned at 20, but told them about the ticket. mightve been a different drill, but i got it for $10 =]

  • Yeah, kmart Altona VIC, only the jigsaw on sale for 10 bucks, everything else is full price!

  • Bought one of the 18V Cordless drills, quickly returned due to battery not charging, offered a replacement and I politely declined…unfortunately is probably back on shelf and ready to be sold to someone else.
