Ozito Multi Function Tool at Bunnings Everywhere $29 (Was $75)

3470

Great price for a multi tool! Cut neat holes in plasterboard like a gentleman, instead of ripping it to shreds with a plasterboard saw.

Need to cut lots of pvc piping? Why waste energy with a hacksaw when you can use this? Save that energy to lift that beer at the end. Just make sure you leave it till the end - drinking and sawing don't go together.

Now that you've seen what happens to grouting when you don't wash your shower for months, use the grouting removal blade to hide your shame. Regain that lost confidence you so rightly deserve. You won't be embarrassed anymore when a friend comes over at night and uses your shower in the morning.

For some usage ideas, check out the video for The Renovator:

Video of it in action:

There's a pallet load right there.

As mentioned in the comments, there are two versions - one with 7 accessories, and one with 23 accessories. As you'd expect, the numbers are cheaply padded by counting the sanding pads individually. Nevertheless, more is better than less!

The 23-acessory box has a yellow sticker and also has the text "20+ accessories included" printed on the right side of the box. Photo here - http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/9075/18012/ozito-mft.jp…

This is a photo of all the accessories that come with the 23-accessory version.:

And this is what comes with the 7-piece version, thanks to deal88:

    +1 for great description.

    • +7

It should be in the user manual

      • +6
        • Mine came with more. While the description on the receipt says it has 7 accessories, there was a sticker on the box saying 23 accessories now included. It had 5 of each of the sanding pads, another saw like the one next to the allen key in the pic, and both a circular and triangular rough metal sanding attachments.

master1 you state "+1 for great description"

but you do not give a +1?

      • +20

        And still hasn't!
But I'll give you a +1 for raising concern about his lack of +1.

      • +2

Maybe master1 is somehow related to Masters - competitor of the Bunnings…

    • Still plenty of stock at Bunnings Watergardens (Melbourne)as of 24/08 at 3.00pm

  • +3

I have one of these. It's very good. Awesome price.

    • do the blades last a reasonable amount of time?

seems like a very good price

      • Yes, reasaonable. Depends what you are cutting of course.
With the blades it seems you get what you pay for. I've bought a few from ebay which have been good.

    • I had one of these. I didnt use it all that often but it died within the first 12 months. The small metal teeth that slot into the blade fell off one by one. Unfortunately I lost the receipt so couldnt return it under warranty. I now own a bosch and so far so good.

      • +3

I lost the receipt for my Ozito air pump too. It died in the 3rd year. I brought it in to Bunnings, the guy said just bring in a stat dec saying when I bought the pump and he'll give me a replacement. I did just that and walked out with the current model which was worth twice what I paid, with a new 3-year warranty.

        • I brought in a mitre saw that died in the 3rd year as well, after its second use. The staff gave me a replacement and said that it would only be covered for 4 months under warranty because that would have been exactly 3 years from the date of purchase. I asked why it wasn't covered for 3 years and she remarked and I quote "so you could do trade work and in 3 years time get another replacement".

        • +1

What product comes with a brand new warranty every time you get it replaced? It's unreasonable to expect a brand new warranty at each replacement especially when you're buying a bottom of the range power tool.

        • It's consumer law. Every new item comes with new warranty.

        • +1

Link? I'm with bunnings on that one. Indefinate warranty makes no sense to me.

        • What part of consumer law states that if you are given a replacement you get a full voluntary warranty again?

        • You're right - you don't get a brand new warranty. Warranty remains as starting from the original purchase date.

Some companies will grant an extra warranty (eg: 90 days from replacement) to cover you incase your original remaining warranty is <90 days.

There is a law around usable life - Statutory Guarantee, which covers you for warranty after the manufacturers warranty has expired. Eg: if you bought an expensive multitool, lets say you paid $1000, it would be expected to last 2 years, not one, which might be a standard warranty. - that said, bunnings is giving three years from original purchase date, and prettying no questions asked. I'd say that's very generous for your $29 investment.

This is an important thing to keep in mind for any expensive items you purchase. I say expensive, because it otherwise might not be worth your while. (Eg tv, fridge, washer, appliances etc. )

      • The small metal teeth that slot into the blade fell off one by one

The little lugs that hold the blade on? They fell off within the first 5 minutes with ours. Returned it and got the bosch.

        • +2

I bought one of these a while back. I read on another forum that the lugs can break off but only if you don't tighten the blade properly. With that in mind i tighten the blade well and i haven't had any issues with it.

  • +4

i had one of these….make sure you screw the lock nut on really right. The blades are held in by 4 TINY lugs which shear off very easily. These things vibrate a lot so unless its super tight the blade will work itself loose. I know the ryobi has like 8 lugs to hold the blade in.

$30 is pretty good though, i might grab another :S

    • why another? thety come with 3yr warranty so just replace for new

      • +25

        2 handed Multi-Functioning, obviously

        • +14

some might even call it multi-handed multi-tool multi-tasking

        • +1

          akimbo styles!

    • I wonder if that's covered by their 3-year warranty. My last Ozito warranty claim (a portable tyre inflator that blew out in the 3rd year) was great. I got a brand-new current-model (which cost double what I originally paid) as a replacement.

    • Yup mine lasted about 30min before the lugs were sheared off. Back it went.

  • +3

    Thanks OP

    This is a good deal.

And to the people saying THANK YOU

Please give + to OP as well

    • +3

I would hope people would at least come back and give a +1 after they have grabbed their bargain.

      • I won't be getting one, but I'm giving it a +1 just based on the deal!
If I didn't already have a better one (Makita) I'd probably grab it!

        • makita are really stingy with their warranties. only 12 months

      • -3

I would hope people would at least come back and give a +1 after they have grabbed their bargain.

This is how I normally work…

Once it is in my hands or I get shipping confirmation (for online deals) or more than a handful of people score the deal, I'll give a +1.

So I can give OP 2+

        • +8

Personally, i think the fact that there is a photo with a pallet load of this product. AND it has been confirmed at various stores, is worthy of a + now rather than later.

This is a good deal and an available deal, regardless if you grab one.

A bit different than the low stock and suspect internet deals.

        • -1

Please pm me if you want to sell your +

          Ummm…what???

          You buy peoples votes?

That must be a new OzB low…

On another note, finally managed to pick one up and give it a quick test - works great.

          Cheers OP :D

        • +1

Just tell me you're not selling your +s to Broden… It'll cost us twice as much to buy them back!!!

  • Good deal. i have the Bosch version and it is very useful, especially in plaster and using in wood like a chisel.
For PVC pipe, a hacksaw is usually quicker and easier.

    • +1

Likewise, I bought a Makita start of the year. I don't know why I didn't buy one years ago!!!

  • Do these come with a whole bunch of accessory blades like 'The Renovator'?

i already have a Bosch, but may be this is a cheap accessories deal?

        • Your reading my mind before I've even thought it!!!

        • but are they interchangeable?

        • yes

    • +1

I can confirm that there are two versions, one with approx 7 accessories as described by deal88 and one with 23 accessories as described by KeeperX. You can tell which version by the photo of the accessories on the back of the box or by a yellow sticker on the top right of the front stating it comes with 23 accessories although I saw some 23-accessory versions without the sticker. So better rely on the photo.

    • +2

This is Bunnings not Big W. Bunnings buys things by the pallet load.

    • +2

didn't think to reserve it with a phone call first eh?

      • I called a BigW once to reserve a product. They had one left. I asked them if the box was perfect as it was a present. Was told it was in "as new" condition. Drove 45 minutes to get it. Went to the counter and they handed me a smashed up box. I went nuts.

But that was BigW and this deal is Bunnings.

      • I wanted too, but then the staff may of ended up reserving it for themselves.

  • Thanks OP might get one of these and hack things around the house. Confirmed they are $29 at Bunnings Scoresby. Still have Bunnings cards from the yellow pages deal that was posted ages ago.

    • might be nation wide?

      • Yes, I'd say so.

  • +1

    Thank You!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to buy the Renovator for $90 at Woolies, yesterday.

    • Lucky you said about to, otherwise I would have had to neg you!!! ;)

  • Yeah the warranty would still apply. iy's a back to base manufacturer warranty.

  • Anyone wonder why these are reduced so heavily? Do these work as well as the more expensive ones with lots of attachments advertised on TV?

    • Probably because when this was first released it was riding on the wave of the "Renovator" advertising, now that the renovator is not being advertised as much there is perhaps less interest in the knockoffs.

Ive got one of these Ozito models that my wife gave me for my birthday about a year back, I used it last week for the first time to sand our front door and also to cut some timber from the bottom of the door where it had been sticking. Worked ok for that task.

I also think you can use blades from some other brands (either Bosch or Ryobi, I cant remember which).

      • The tool was around long before the renovator got into the action.

        • Yeah good point, but it was "the renovator" which really started pushing the advertising.

      • How long after purchase does Bunnings accept returns? I bought one of these about a month ago, full price. Wife suggested why not buy another at this price & return it with the old receipt. 50 clams back in my pocket! You could try the same…

        • one month should be fine. they don't actually mention any time limit in their returns policy. just double check the barcodes are the same i suppose

  • +1

Ok now I'm off to check the local Bunnings.
Dont "need" one but to cheap to pass up.

  • +2

Confirmed my local in WA has stock at $29…hopefully grab one after work.

    • +2

Why did someone neg this comment? Store info possibly useful, but not neg worthy.
      Hopefully just fat fingers.

    • Which one did you call?

      • +1

        Rockingham ;)

      • I bought from Edgewater, there was almost a full palette yesterday.

  • Might pick one up too! thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP

I'm gonna get one this arvo

    Gr8 find :)

  • Humm anyone checked in in Vic?

Today Herald Sun have Ozito twin blade + Multi Function tool for $98.

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_ozito-1200w-125m…

Did anyone bought both for $98 in Victoria?

    • Been interested to try a twin blade. But the cut depth is not great.

      Blade Size 125mm (5")

      Max. Cutting Capacity

      Timber: 28mm
      Steel: 2mm
      Other Metals: 3mm

      • Called local bunnings (Sunshine, VIC)

Both are on sale for $98

        Multi Function - $29
        Twin Blade - $69

        • Same at Vermont,VIC.

I only saw about 4 of each tho.

    • i bought just the multi tool

  • Confirmed heaps of stock in Brendale QLD.

  • Can anyone tell me if this is good for cutting down light holes as I have about 40 to install! We have the standard light batten in the ceiling right now so I can't use a hole saw as there is no fixture for the dril bit to lock into.

    • through the plaster you mean?

    • +2

If you're talking about putting holes in the ceiling (plaster) for downlights then you're much better off using a holesaw. the drill bit doesn't need to bite into timber, it's simply there as a guide to hold the saw in a central location. Make sure you know what size hole is required for the new lights and buy a suitably sized saw. As it's only plaster you don't have to go out and buy top of the range, but make sure you take a little time drilling/cutting carefully. There's nothing worse than having to patch an area where you're putting a hole!
edit: One last tip… Don't cut a hole where the roofs timber battens are!

      • The problem is that there is no guide for the drill bit as a hole already exists where the existing light batten is. I'll see how using a jab saw goes.

        • +1

Try holding, or even tape another small piece of plaster over the the area you need to drill into, then drill through that piece into and through the existing roof too! There's a lot greater chance of stuffing the hole up with a jigsaw or multi tool like these, especially if it's only a smallish hole for the lights!

  • +6

I'm going to pick one up tonight.

But multitools aren't very manly are they… I'll have to hide it right at the back of my tool cupboard. Behind something manly with lots of sharp edges and paint splatters.

    • And blood stains too… Not specifying where the blood comes from ;)

  • Mandurah WA has plenty priced at $75 on the large pricing board but
scanned at the lower price the guy said it was on for 2 days?

  • how is this deal compare to the Masters one?
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114255

    • +1

For a start, this is a corded tool. Masters' is cordless. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

  • +3

    Leelo Dallas. Multitool?

    • Never without my permission.

      (greatest movies ever :))

  • Lots of stock in Rocklea

  • Picked one up in Keysborough Vic. They also had the deal with twin blade combined for $98.
Has anyone got the drop saw for $99. Any good for a house reno??

    • Haven't had a look at it. But it should be, provided it can cut a 45 up to 140mm or so. Only real problem with a drop saw (not sliding) is the width they cut!
I'd take it a little easy with a cheap one. Make a few cuts, do some work, then a few more cuts. Don't try cutting everything up in the one hit!

      • Thanks Snoop, might do a bit more investigating first…

        • And don't discount picking up a decent second hand one.
I got a Mak drop saw for $40, bought a decent blade (another $40), and have used it for about 2 years now!
But like I said, my drop saw won't cut the 240mm I needed for the outside bench seats, stair treads, etc.

  • Thanks OP. I'll check my local Bunnings on the way home tonight.
