Ozito Multi Function Tool at Bunnings Everywhere $29 (Was $75)

3470

Great price for a multi tool! Cut neat holes in plasterboard like a gentleman, instead of ripping it to shreds with a plasterboard saw.

Need to cut lots of pvc piping? Why waste energy with a hacksaw when you can use this? Save that energy to lift that beer at the end. Just make sure you leave it till the end - drinking and sawing don't go together.

Now that you've seen what happens to grouting when you don't wash your shower for months, use the grouting removal blade to hide your shame. Regain that lost confidence you so rightly deserve. You won't be embarrassed anymore when a friend comes over at night and uses your shower in the morning.

For some usage ideas, check out the video for The Renovator:

There's a pallet load right there.

As mentioned in the comments, there are two versions - one with 7 accessories, and one with 23 accessories. As you'd expect, the numbers are cheaply padded by counting the sanding pads individually. Nevertheless, more is better than less!

The 23-acessory box has a yellow sticker and also has the text "20+ accessories included" printed on the right side of the box. Photo here - http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/9075/18012/ozito-mft.jp…

This is a photo of all the accessories that come with the 23-accessory version.:

  • i picked up two at my local bunnings.

they also had ozito twin blade saws for $69 ($97 on website) http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_ozito-1200w-125m…

looking at a couple of videos on youtube, the twin blade saw looks useful for cutting pipes etc, but i don't think i really need it

  • +1

Just bought 3 (2 as dad day gifts, 1 for me lol) at bunnings maddington (WA). They had at least 50 there. Lady said special is until 1st Sept or when they sell out. Had one on display, felt more solid than the bosch one next door and that was 149. proof will be in the pudding.

  • Can this cut concrete? I want to make a hole in the concrete driveway under a steel railing (on which it runs the remote gate)?

    • rotary hammer drill?

    • Long answer, I hope you're kidding? Short answer, NO!
Firstly we'd need to know what size hole? Length? Width? Depth of concrete? Any reo in there?
But basically the answer is still no!

    • NO. Either a rotary hammer drill or possibly a diamond blade on an angle grinder.
(Depending on job - though sounds like the diamond blade on an angle grinder is what you need)

      • +2

If asking can a multitool cut concrete….. Best not to wield an angle grinder. (To avoid the emergency room)

    • -2

This will be lucky to cut timber.

  • +1

Might be a noob question - Will this work for cutting laminate floorboards?

    • you will probably want a longer blade as in a saw.

    • +2

Yes. But it'd be time consuming. You'd be better of using a circular and/or drop saw if you're laying new boards and it's just straight cuts. This is great for finishing off, cutting corners, odd shapes, etc.
I had to cut and replace some existing hardwood floorboards out from a house I'm reno'ing. I made some long cuts with a circular saw down the lentgths, then used a multi tool to carefully cut right up to the next board. Like I said, they're great for the precision work!

    • +1

also useful for cutting door mouldings if you need to create a small gap for the floating floorboards to go under

      • Or in the case of the picture you're probably refering to, the door jamb!

        • I wish all my work areas were that clean and free from sawdust. Even the blade looks like it has never moved.

    • This is the tool would i would recommend for floorboards….

    • YES! For the fiddly bits, I used it for the doors etc. Invaluable. You will need a drop saw or similar though too, I grabbed a low-mid range ozito at the time. One with a bit of cut length.

    • Will this work for cutting laminate floorboards?

A jigsaw would be a lot easier, I think. Not the ideal tool, but as cheap as the multitool.
Jigsaw will also do the fiddly bits, as well as follow a pencil line well enough for a laminate floor.

Or do you want to trim the laminate after it is laid?

    • +1

I used a jigsaw to cut the boards initially (with the boards turned upside down so that the saw cuts from the top of the board, or your laminate will/could tear)

After I laid all of them down, I trimmed some of the ends of the boards with the multi tool to ensure that there was appropriate expansion room. There were only a couple of boards to trim so it wasn't too time consuming …

Definitely wouldn't use this to cut all of the boards though.

  • +2

Wanted one for donkey's. Now need something to build.

    Cheers'n thanks.

    • +7

Might be quite messy using this to cut up donkey's but you could certainly try.

      • +4

One of my childhood memories is of dad chopping up a dead donkey with a chainsaw on the farm… not as messy as you'd imagine…

        • He should have used a lithium-ion rechargeable chainsaw. Less kickback, less blood and flesh flying everywhere.

        • +3

          Less kickback,

The donkey not quite dead yet?

    • a donkey-shaped pinata you meant?

  • Oh damnit I was just at bunnings :(

This is what happens when you don't check ozbargain constantly…

  • +1

    Loads (palette) left at Lidcombe.

  • +1

    Handful left at bunnings alexandria

    • Yeah, I got one this morning, thanks.

  • +1

Just got one from binnings Altona.

Can confirm comes with 23 accessories and 3 year replacement warranty

    Thanks again OP

  • +2

Dont know what ill use it for but got one just in case.

  • Windsor Gardens (Adelaide) had a pallet, but marked at $75.

The fellow said that they would be marking them down to $29 tomorrow, but happily sold me one for $29.

Only 7 accessories, but mighty cheap for what it is.

Big thanks to the OP :-)

    • a sticker on my boxes say 23 accessories, but i haven't opened them. appears to be mostly sand paper - 15 sheets of varying grades of sand paper

  • Only a few left (5) in Keysborough Bunnings.

    • I think I got the last one. ;)
I was not sure if I needed one, but since there was only one left I figured that I'd grab it - they must be good if everyone else has brought one … right?

  • Just bought last two from Bunning @ Marion,SA

    • Lucky you, saved me a trip.

Though I must say I'm surprised they knew about the sale. They are usually oblivious to such things and often refuse to price match unless harassed for an explanation (after which they comply).

  • +1

Anyone knows the stock level at Rockdale NSW or Caringbah NSW? Going to one of these stores tonight, will report back after the trip.

    • Heaps (50+) at Caringbah NSW.

  • Just came back from Narrabean NSW, still have a few left that I could see.

  • Got mine, heaps of stock at Castle Hill (Sydney, NSW) store

  • +3

Finally got around to making an account just to +1 this.
I've used one of these before, and I recommend it.

  • I got one of these a year or so ago and it has been handy for those niche jobs where a hacksaw is a pain in the arse. Cutting a cm off the bottom of a door frame with one of these is a cinch compared to mucking around with other tools. If you use it more than a few times you'll need to spend 15 bucks on a good blade though as mine blunted pretty quick after a bit of jarrah. bargain for the price.

  • +1

so I just got back from Bunnings in Dandenong VIC.

The bunnings guy there said that the deal was running only for Fathers Day this weekend.

The other deal they were running was for the circular saw thing.

Apparently there are two multicutters in the mix - the older one with a few accessories and the newer one with 23 accessories. They only way to tell the difference is to look for a yellow roundish sticker on the top right of the box - where it says something about the accessories.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thax, i got one.

  • +1

Still about a dozen left at Armidale NSW

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one.

  • +1

Do I need one of those? No. Am I gonna buy one of those? Hell yeah!

    • +1

Yeah I don't need one either, but at this price it's damn hard not to buy one, because one day I'm sure I'll need it for something… Ah temptation…

  • Just got one from Oakleigh South. Only one left in the display at the front of the store, but still 5-6 on the shelf in the tools section.

  • Apparently a fair few left in Mentone, VIC. Just going from what my Mum told me after she got one!

    • stack of them by the left most register

  • Heaps left at the new Bunning's at Highpoint home maker centre in Vic.
    Thanks

  • +2

awesome post, ended up buying the multi tool($29) + twin cutter($69) + ozito rotary tool 183 piece kit($50) + ozito heat gun($10)

    • +1

you are now fully equipped and ready to cause some major damage

    • +2

Time to get revenge on that school bully ;)

    • Did you intend to only spend $29, but in fact came home $158.00 worse for wear?

Don't worry, I went there to spend $29 but spent ~$37! This plus 30xAA Narva alkaline batteries for $8 or something :)

      • i only went to grab the multi tool for $29, but the other tools were staring at me and i gave in

    • I have no problem going into a hardware store and spending a lot more than I intended to. What gets me is walking out realising that I've just spent more than 2 hours in the one bloody place… Then lining up for another 5 minutes for a snag!!!

      • The 5min snag can't be beat, quick, cheap and supporting a usually reasonable if not good cause

    • The ozito heat gun was $35 where I looked, was that some sort of localised special?

    • I couldn't find the Ozito heat gun for that price - which store was that at, if you don't mind me asking?

  • still plenty of in SA woodville

  • Thanks, i told my my dad and he bought one from Bunning's at Bankstown today, he said there were plenty instock at around 1pm

  • All OP posts should be like this! :)

  • dozen left at chatswood, asked $79, but scanned $29 at the end

  • Went to Noarlunga adelaide to get one.

Lady wasn't surprised when I asked, seemed like there were plenty left.

  • Thanks OP!

  • @rse! Bought one of these last weekend. Anyone know if Bunnings have a price refund policy etc?

    • +2

if you've already opened it, buy another one and refund using you old receipt

  • I bought one. It was a dud - the blade would slip when under load. Returned it and bought Ryobi cordless. Yes a lot more money but no regrets. Cordless is the way to go.

    • +1

Not sure how the blade could slip, it's held in place with tooth and slot setup. They can jam under a high load. But the only way it'd slip is if you hadn't tightened it properly or stripped the blades slots!
Ps. That happens with better brands like my Makita too!

      • It was a bit bizarre, it only happened under load, but the screw holding the blade would undo itself allowing the blade to slip out of the tooth arrangement. I had to get the Bunnings people to cut something to prove it before they refunded my money.

  • Just got the last one from Kingston, Brisbane Bunnings. Those live nearby who want one need to find it at another location.

  • Few left at Bunnings, Milperra NSW. Picked one just before closing yesterday, put it to work today morning and already it has paid for itself.

    Definitely a bargain at $29.

  • Just picked one up at Bentleigh (Melbourne) - there were about 5 left (not very prominently displayed, had to look around to find it). Tried it out on some bits and pieces in the garage and it seems to work well

  • I picked the multi tool & twin cutter … still plenty left at Melton Store..

  • There was a heap at Box Hill this morning. Over 100. Thank you to everyone who posted about the yellow sticker and the different numbers of accessories :) Thank you to the OP :)

So, should this be able to cut through small branches of trees? :)

  • Does anyone know when this deal ends?

  • +1

    Plenty at bunnings belconnen ACT

  • Trying to figure out exactly what the 23 piece model has opposed to the 7 piece set..

Mine did not have a yellow sticker on it but on the front of the box (right hand side) there are 3 features.

    1. 20+ accessories included
    2. Kit Box Included
    3. Sure Grip.

    On the back contents include:
    Multi Funtion Tool
    Side Handle
    Sanding Pad
    Straight Blade x 2
    Semi Circular Blade
    Grout Removing Disc
    Scraper
    Triangular Rasp
    P60 Grit Sanding Paper x 5
    P120 Grit Sanding Paper x 5
    P240 Grit Sanding Paper x 5
    Kit Box
    Hex Key
    Instruction Manual

Wondering if this is the same as the 23 piece model?

    Can someone confirm?

    Cheers guys

    • +1

      Yes is the same

    • Mine had the yellow "23 accessories" sticker and lists those three points like yours. The contents are the same.

  • None left at Victoria Point. Plenty at Capalaba.

  • Ozito have taken out a large advert in the Herald Sun today promoting this deal for father's day.

I suspect there should be lots of stock coming to meet the demand given that they've taken out major newspaper advertising.

There were plenty at Nunawading and more were being put out by staff today.

  • +1

Heaps at Preston (VIC) when I picked up mine today. As I went through the register the Bunnings guy himself said "Oh, that's that $29 multi function I paid $79 for not long ago"…score!

  • Got one from Fyshwick (Canberra area) store today. Had a sign up indicating the $29 price.

  • Heaps at Caroline Springs Vic store

  • Stacks at ballarat, Vic. Most have the 23 accessories sticker too.

  • Lidcombe, NSW had plenty. All with the 23 accessories sticker. When I was looking at it, an employee came over telling me about it.

  • I got the old tight arse special.

When i opened it, discovered It had been used - each attachment was scuffed and the housing was chipped. Probably packaged back up and returned for a refund after spending a weekend on someone else's reno.

Just a spot of bad luck for me.

  • +2

Got mine today at Umina NSW
Chatting to the dude at the checkout…he scans…hmmmm
    "That can't be right"
turning the box over….scratching his head….
    Checking the screen again
    ummmm "$29 bucks ?"
"I'm getting myself one too!" he says

  • Plenty at the Malaga (WA) store and the Ozito rep said that price is for only a week.

  • Quite a few left at the Randwick store, just be careful as some of them do not have the Yellow sticker.

  • So its only for sale this Weekend?

  • Thanks OP. Picked one up at Bunnings Botany just before closing today. They brought down the last 8 or so from the top shelves. Don't have any particular uses in mind just yet but seems like a good tool to have available.
