Workzone (Einhell) 5 Piece 18V Li-Ion Tool Kit $99 @ ALDI Chermside

100

These were originally $199 a month or so back.. (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94181)

Looks like they're clearning stock .. Down to $149 elsewhere too

They are a Rebranded Einhell kit, normally going for $300 with that badge..
I've only had quick look at the tools, they seem quite decent.but I'll reserve judgment for now

A fairly large pile left at chermside

For the price, I would not complain about battery life, durability, torque, reliability, etc… Good deal.

  • Hmm, gonna check my locals just in case they have this too…the batteries are finally dying in my 5+yo Ozito, this would make a timely replacement. :)

  • Just had a play it.

    Pro's

    • Drill has very decent torque for a cheapy. Doing my highly accurate, "attempt to stop the chuck from a standstill with my hand" test, in top gear (1150RPM no load) it nearly tore my skin off. That's a pass. I'd estimate its low gear torque in the 40+nm range using other drills as comparison..
*Aluminium sole-plates on the saw's are nice.
      *lasers!
      *appear to run smooth
    • seperate charging pads on bottom of batt. means you can sit the whole tool in the charger and leave it(drill and torch at least)

    Con's…

    • plastic fit and finish Pretty rough around the edges all round. esp the batt's. would be disapointing if not so cheap.
    • Batteries are stiff to get in and out most of the tools. Quite annoying, a rub of silicon spray might help on the guides. Youre suppossed to be able to push them back out with your thumb on the release. but the recip saw is the only one easy enough to do this on my batch
*Torch is a bit ordinary (brightness)
*My Circ saw seems to have a dicky batt contact (slightly bent). So I'll be taking it back! (for a swap)

I may add to this. if I can be arsed :p

  • The 3yr warranty is nice, i'm assuming its repair by replacement, although if theyre clearance items and end of line they may have problems fulfilling the warranty. That said, most of the (cheap) non-brand name tools only have a 12 month warranty, xu1 (Bunnings home brand) for instance.

Expect to get what you pay for though, as berger said don't complain about "battery life, durability, torque, reliability, etc" for 5 tools at $20 each with 2x li-ion batteries, its a good deal.

    • Well, Warranty/support is handled by Einhell according to the box, and warranty card.

They're still selling this at tool shops and whatnot (for stupid $$$) so I'm guessing they'll still support it on a tool by tool basis, or even repair for little while at least if it is EOL

  • I've been keeping an eye on these lately hoping they might go on a clearance :D here's hoping my stores come to the party (I think the last time I was there ~sat, they were $189).

  • Chermside still has about 7 boxes left

  • Anybody see somewhere in VIC with this price? $149 here still (which is still good)

  • bought the last one at aldi moonee ponds for $129 today.

couldnt let go for such a good range of tools.
