Thanks! Think with the tablet buys lately, I'm right till easter 2026.

My wife is pissed at me. I recon we are good until sept 2027 lololol.

      • I like your optimism.

  • +4

Thanks OP, moving into my own place next week so this helps me sort out the essentials!

  • +7

Those finish tabs are absolute shithouse - do not buy. Might as well just not use anything.

    • +1

Agreed. I said thisnkn the last deal and got downvoted. Makes sense.. lol

    • +1

Almost bought but saw this. Thanks

    • +2

What do you recommend that doesn't break the bank?

      • +2

Tbh…. this. Cheaper than any pod/tablet and you can add a little into the main compartment for pre-wash which works wonders.

        • +1

so you just put a little in the main compartment and thats that? dumb question i know, but i went 30 years without a dishwasher and now i have one

          • +1

@Kozhutki: Nah still add some to the powder/tablet compartment (though you can add less than the recommended amount), then sprinkle a little basically directly onto the door before closing it (or into the pre-wash compartment, some new dishwashers have it). See this for a more detailed explanation

            • @Mike Nolan: Do you use rinse aid with this?

              • @Gotchas: With the powder - Yep - just the Aldi one!

                • @Mike Nolan: Thanks. Ok might try the powder once I go through the years worth of tablets

              • @Gotchas: I use this wonderful Woollies powder without rinse aid and it's fine. Soft water, Sydney.

        • Agreed - was a tablet user for many years (finish et al) and recently switched to using this - I see absolutely no benefit from using the tablets. My dishes come out 100% clean every time, streak free and perfect.

I do use rinse aid also - so that may or maynot be needed.

          • +1

@iDroid: Same here. I use the Coles one, which works great too!

            • @angry-redbird: Yeah I use both - I think they're both manufactured in the same factory, they're almost exactly the same.

  • Decided to jump on the Finish Quantum 3pk one even though it cost a bit more, deliberately to get one without lemon fragrance.
The whole Fairy chemical thing left a literal bad taste in my mouth and read hints Finish lemon was going the same way …
Maybe not the cheapest it'll be at 17.4c/tab in the end, but don't have to buy an even more ridiculous quantity (waste less money if it's still crap) and the lemon variants seem to have saturated the shelves otherwise.

Use Shine (woolworths) 1kg powder for under $4.
    Da bomb

    • +2

Shine is surprisingly good. Better than other house brand (Aldi/Coles) powders, and low end Finish/Fairy tablets. Hope they don't change the formula to reduce cost.

    • I really need to get on the powder after watching the Technology Connections videos… but the tablets are just so easy.

      • +3

Bruh it's not that hard to pour a bit of powder into the compartment either lol

      • +3

it's just as easy doing the powder, and don't bother measuring, just do it by eye.

I've actually found the powder is easier because you don't need to touch the cleaner….sometimes the tablet can get sticky or leaking if you touch them whilst having slightly damp hands or spilling water near it, which is common given the nature of it's use

        • Tablets are a fad

      • +1

Tablets means only detergent for the main wash.
Powder means you can use half for prewash and half for main wash. This will mean better end results.

  • Thanks @hamza23

The fairy platinum plus tabs are $31 for 2x84 pack. Ended up getting these

  • Most likely these would have been manufactured in 2023 and are at the fag end of their efficiency in terms of cleaning, found out the hard way!

    • Last time family got concerned and checked morning fresh said the expiry period is 5 years and longer. Yeah we still feel defective overtime.

    • +7

      The what end now
