I was going to give you a +ve but then I saw the Beats by Dr Dre and I didn't want to ruin my reputation by voting for them.

Overpriced for what they are. Have turned into a fashion accessory

Beats did a good job of screwing their partner - takes two to tango I guess.

But fashion accessories hold their worth, beats simply don't…

        • I compared a friend's Dr Dre Beats ($500) headphone to my 4 year old Sony headphone. I have to say that Dr Dre Beats was not worth $500.

      • I would argue that Apple products are fashion accessories as well.

    • Don't know what's wrong with Dr dream?

Or ~AUD$300 delivered from B&H Photo Video for 16GB ($342 for 32GB). Took about a week for mine to arrive.

  • I was thinking who got beat by dr studio when seeing the title

  • Disappointing that 2nd gen is more expensive than 1st gen. I would have expected them to phase out 1st gen, and sell 2nd gen for the same price as 1st gen. That's how it normally works for most things. If they keep increasing the price for subsequent gens, 10th gen might be a $2000 tablet.

  • Is 2nd generation really that much more as first gen when it was first released? I remember it was hard to get 8gb model for around 300 when initially released.. You always pay early adopters tax for brand new tech, in a few months you'll find gen 2 considerably cheaper for sure. And I'm not suggesting anyone to wait, so don't neg me for that. :-P

    • I thought 16GB was $249 (US) or $299 (AU). This is the top model.

      The 8GB was $199 (US).

Top model for 2nd gen is 32GB for $354 which is a significant bump up. Yes I know 32GB is more than 16GB, but the nature of a refresh is that it comes with more stuff, which should be for the same money.

An iPhone $800 16GB phone might be a 32GB phone when the next one comes out, for that same price. That's how it's always done.

When a model of car is updated to a new generation, you get more equipment in it. Stuff that used to be optional features are now standard, but you pay the same price as before.

So the 32GB should be the replacement of the 16GB. If they're charging more for this, they will charge more for 3rd gen, and so on until the price rivals an iPad and people will buy iPads instead.

      • You can get a n7 2013 model for $240 US delivered on amazon for what its worth. You have to remember this tablet has some new features that the previous model didn't have such as 5 mp camera, chromecast and also you can plug it into the hdmi port to display on tv. imo they should have kept the camera off the tablet and sold it at $199 US still, but plenty wanted that feature, don't know why.

        • Like I said, most refreshes when it's electronics, cars, or what have you, come with new stuff, without increasing the price. You get more value.

If they kept increasing the price, some day they will cost $1000 or more.

        • If they kept increasing the price…

Your deduction comes from one single increase of price from one product, over one year of sample. It's like saying when comes the summer, "oh if the temperature kept on rising, it would be 100 degrees some day and we will be literally boiling"

If you look at the industry trend, tech products usually get cheaper over time, with some fluctuation.

          Except in this case.

Temps go up and down based on season. Prices of the same product don't go up, except when there are supply constraints. The new Nexus adds stuff that wasn't there before, but I didn't expect a price rise as a result of new stuff. Consistently when a new update comes out they don't do that. If they introduced a new model in the same range with more bells and whistles, sure, as long as there's an alternative that's the same price.

Who is to say v3 won't also come with a price rise?
