Going to get negged because looks like only 2 in stock but someone might be interested.

Got an email from Amazon.com advertising a special on the Harman Kardon AVR 154. Thought I would jump on Amazon.de just out of curiosity to see if the 230V equivalent was on sale and if it would ship to Australia and it turned out to be a yes to both (equivalent seems to be the Harman Kardon AVR 156). According to CamelCamelCamel has dropped from around 250Euro to 200Euro. Use 28degrees card to improve on conversion costs, I have just used the Amazon converter to get to $354.77AUD.

Has previously been posted for $399 but didn't rate very highly, will see how it goes this time.

Cheapest I can find locally at the moment is $399 but can't comment on the store at all.

Need to battle through the German translation of course but as far as I can tell it is 230V compatible and Australian compatible with the addition of an adaptor plug.

Will leave it to someone else to inevitably point out all the risks and disasters from purchasing overseas.

Not often that these sorts of items will ship to Australia so posted in case someone can get some value from it, good luck.

Not familiar with this particular item so will pass myself even though in the market for an AV receiver (I'm looking for 6 HDMI inputs as a start anyway, think this one only has 3).

For $399 locally, I'd stick with the Aussie stock. Keep our retailers in business.

On top of the $354, add $12-17 for a euro power adapter, or buy a power cable for $5~(depending if standard)

What about warranty? I'm happy to send it back to Sydney, not Europe.

    • Ok I'll bite with the obligatory response - I'm all for supporting Australian businesses and Australian jobs, but they need to come on board as well with the support for their customers.

Thought I would try and see what sort of reviews the shop doing $399 locally got (NAPF Electronics Summer Hill) - the only review I could find (good or bad) was this (no idea why the captcha is required to view the comment), so not off to a good start in my book.

Next cheapest was $499 then $599 so some 40% more.

Amazon has always given me great service on returns and faulty items and also gave me some significant cash-back when some items I purchased went on sale a day later. I've never had a cause to have complaint with them which is more than I can say with Dick Smith / Harvey Norman / MWave / etc. Forgotten about MSY and their returns approach already?

Secondly (and certainly not the fault of Australian businesses) - but need to get cheaper shipping out of Australia Post.

Happy for you to defend your deal you posted. As I do the same…

But I have an obligatory response too!

You mention Australia post, this amp for $399 at NAPF has free delivery.

Oh and I found this. It's only $349. Looks like they have 'come on board' with pricing. No mention of delivery from what I can see. But still, pricing is good.

Looks like these guys are going to have a lawsuit on their hands.

Microsoft will want to protect their Xbox One.

Not sure what the breach is…

      • Must be comparing the look of the HK amp… Which had this style for the last few years….

  • Great design and decent THD (<0.07% @ 60W). Plus for me.

  • Guys anyone has a great suggestion how to get stuff from
Amazon US of A sites and likewise. It seems they don't ship to Australia . ( i am newbie) :( - much appreciated

  • If you're in Syd, for $450 id suggest just going for the RX-V473 from Eastwood Hifi. Or $400 for water damaged boxes apparently.
