Yes a very good price but is it the genuine one from Google/LG? Compared it as well as I could to my genuine case and some bits looked slightly different or of less quality. Anyone know? It doesn't explicitly say anywhere if it's genuine or not

but is it the genuine one from Google/LG

Nope. Do a search on it in the search field, the results lists says it's a generic brand. So at $14, not a bargain.

      • oh I see. Yeah, looking at the pics it doesn't look to be well made. I suppose it's up to everyone individually but I have been very happy with my genuine case, I think it's worth the extra cost.

  • Its a knock off and looks pretty poorly made to me

  • Thanks for the helpful comments.

There are some useful threads on xda-developers.com Nexus 4 Accessories forum where the original and a fake/replica is shown together and there are several obvious differences; mostly to do with the fit and the functionality of the bumper buttons.

I haven't seen anyone on the trains with a Nexus 4, let alone one with a bumper.

I use a very slim case for minimal protection and minimal bulk.
A quicksand slim case is around 4GBP on eBay; something like $6.50 delivered!

  • The google play store now has the original bumper cases in stock. $20 + shipping though, so not exactly a deal.

  • Does teh Nexus 4 actually need a bumper case?
I thought these things were invented for the iphone4, to fix both antenna problem, and that it broke very easily.
Has nexus copied the Apple design problems? Or is this more for personalisation?

It's to protect the glass I think

      • yep it's for the glass, it's so when you sit it down on a surface it's the bumper touching the surface and not the glass. I think there have been some drop tests too and the bumper has helped.

And on top of the protection, it also feels quite nice :)

    • It's a slippery sucker. Some reports of it sliding off tables that are just slightly inclined.
A bumper will also provide protection while letting you show off the shiny back
