Meant to say the Aldi uses harden steel motor vs plastic on the Karcher. Big difference as the Karcher does get quite hot (not good sign for longevity).

I'd still go for a Karcher.. but as always with all brands, never go for the lower models. At least the mid range or higher.. it's a buy a good one and use for a few yrs, of buy one every 2 yrs.

    Just my 5cts worth..

  • Not sure why this Aldi high pressure cleaner would be worth more than 2 times as much as (arguably) the world's leading brand. Although the specs seem good, Karcher is known worldwide as the leader, and people often use the word "karcher" when they mean a high-pressure cleaner.
Andreu, I am not sure I fully agree; I bought my lowest-end Karcher ("Winner" model) at Bunnings 3 years ago when they were having promotions. The salesguy said they wanted to test how reliable the bottom model would be, so they switched it on before they went home, and let it run non-stop all night. Sure enough, it was still going fine in the morning. To me, that's reliability. No way I'd buy an Aldi brand for more than double the price.

Edit: I see now you are comparing to the K2.180, which is $110 (too many karcher deals - got confused). Still not convinced though…

Yeah, but not "Workzone". Just trying to say that reputation matters.

Aldi's pressure cleaner comes with 3 years warranty and has Supply volume: 450 L/h comparing to Karcher's 1 year warranty and Supply volume: 5.5 L/h, I know which one I'll buy.

        • might need to check that. 450L sounds alot if u r using the car wash nozzle.

Karcher may be the world's leading brand but since they switch their production to china their low end machines are rubbish. I spoke to an Authorised Karcher Repairer located in Preston Vic. and they said the high end machines are made in Germany and the ones to buy if u want a workhorse. The plastic motor ones are all made in china. This is why alot of people are now buying Gerni.

These are both (all) just kid's toys unfortunately

  • all wrong Stevo i'm sorry.

2 year warranty on Domestic Karcher machines. the motors are not made of plastic but the pumps are. this is because metal + water = rust = machine failure.

the karcher motor size is only 1.4kw compared with 2.2kw. so that makes the karcher much more efficient then the Aldi machine to make the same pressure.

Bunnings stock the karchers for a reason. its because they work well and don't give them to many issues. the Karcher dealer you spoke to in Preston was just trying to upsell you to a more expensive model.

    • cool!. Please to know it comes with 2yrs warranty :). BTW, Metal as in aluminium so rust is not an issue.

My trusty karcher (made in Germany) which had served me well for nearly 10yrs died on me so I took it to this authorised repairer. The Owner of the business wasn't trying to upsale me at all but simply giving me a frank opinion on the lower end models. For the cost of repairing my unit, I ended up buying the Karcher K2.18 model which was on sale at Masters for $99. No complaints so far but the motor does get much hotter and a bit louder than my old unit. I only use it to wash the car and it does the job. The reason I bought another Karcher was bcoz I can re-use my previous pressure hose/nozzles.
