  • Good deal for individual items. If you are looking for a set then Supercheap have compressor, hose and mechanical air tools for $230 until tomorrow. Comes out cheaper if you are buying a few air tools for mechanical work.

    • Is this the one?

      http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/2-5HP…

Have been looking for these for a long time. How does this set perform?

my intention is to DIY car maintenance, spraying paints for fence. Is this suitable for spraying hobby kits?

      • Yeah that's the one. Had a look today but didn't get one.

For home DIY I guess it's sufficient. Going to do Subaru major service which costs 3k if I get Subaru to do it. $900 parts and fluids, $80 tools so far. This would just make life easier.

        • What was holding off you to get it?
Is this kind of deal hard to come by?

        • By the way, website says none of the stores in Melb have any left for 'click and collect', but I went to Blackburn Supercheap and they had at least 4 sets. Might go get one tomorrow….

        • Wow… which major service is this and what Suby do you have? I don't think my Liberty B4 will cost that much for a major service, but then again, I wouldn't do it at Subaru either

      • +1

I have one, does the job for the Price… just note that "for the price"
It is junk but it does the job.

  • What kind of airflow rate would be needed for the painting of Fences/Cars?

  • 50% off all sca branded air tools and kits until tomorrow.
However the air hose at aldi is a good price

  • i am not a DIY person so i like to ask if the drill in the catalog good enough to drill holes in a brick wall ? i like to install some floating shelf. cheers !

    • +2

Probably better of getting a cheap electric drill. Anything decent can go through brick with hammer action and the right drill bits. With this one you need a compressor and hose as well. With electric one just plug in using an extension wire.

Air tools are usually used for mechanics, nail gun and spraying purposes.

  • Comrpessor appears to be this one, sold in the UK under Sealy brand…

    http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?gotonode=ViewProdu…

has some more detailed specs there

    • Wow, 220L/Min free air flow - sounds impressive! Much cheaper than the one my Dad bought that can only handle 180. It works but struggles with impact wrenches.

      • 220l is pump displacement, ie a calculated value. Free Air Delivery at the compressor outlet is how any reputable compressor is advertised these days in Oz. Count on at best 170 odd l/min fad, but likely less. OK for occasional use provided you don't overwork it.

  • The figure of 222L/min is the swept volume of the compressor cylinder, the actual free air flow will be far less. According to the Sealey link given by majord, the free air flow is 145L/min which sound more likely.

The air ratchet would have to be the most useless tool of all time. Get a rattle gun instead.

    • The air ratchet is useful if you want to tighten or loosen bolts without shearing them off!

      • +1

You need to pull out the compressor, unwind an extension power lead, run out the air hose, all for a tool that outputs less force than a regular ratchet.

I'll concede they do have their place, but I prefer a cordless drill for the small stuff (up to M12) and a rattle gun for M14+.

Mind you, I build trains for a living, and I torque up the M36 coupler bolts to 1800 nM!
